Scholarships at California State Polytechnic University-Pomona

The Sallie Mae Fund’s Completing the Dream Scholarship Program helps diverse students from historically underserved communities complete their post-secondary education. Students on-track to complete their degree or continuous education program who are facing financial challenges may apply to receive a one-time scholarship of up to $2,500 to help complete their post-secondary education program. Scholarship applications for AY 2022-23 are being accepted now through 5/31/23 or until all scholarship dollars have been awarded. By 2024, we’ll award nearly 800 Completing the Dream Scholarships totaling $1.95 million, to help students from underserved communities complete their dream of higher education. Qualifications Students must be enrolled at an accredited post-secondary institution or in a continuous education program Two-year Schools Four-year Schools Vocational/Technical Certificate/Certification Program Anticipated completion of postsecondary education program in AY 2022-2023 Have an unpaid school balance up to $2,500 Current cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or higher Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident with a valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 Be a candidate from an underserved community or a diverse candidate, which may mean diverse in: Gender Race Ability Ethnicity Demonstrated leadership Demonstrated good moral character in all aspects of life, including personal, professional, educational, in your community, and online presence

Scholarship Overview Dr. Hochstein has spent many years practicing as a plastic surgeon and welcomes the opportunity to give back to our next generation of physicians. Dr. Leonard Hochstein announces his college scholarship which is geared to university and high school students who are on the route to one day become medical doctors. Criteria To apply, you should be a current student at a university in the United States or high school student that will attend university and who is studying to become a medical doctor. We will award the scholarship based on an essay competition. One winner will be selected based on a creative essay of under 1000 words answering the following: “Describe an area of medicine that needs drastic improvement and how you would use your medical degree to improve upon that area.” Amount One time award of $1,000 Deadline The deadline to apply for the scholarship is December 15, 2022. Winner Announced The winner for the scholarship will be announced January 15, 2023.
