We are pleased to announce The CAPTRUST Scholarship! Applications are open as of September 1, 2022, with the scholarships being awarded for the Spring 2023 semester. We will select five students across the country to receive $1,000 each. At CAPTRUST, we believe it is essential to support our local communities and prepare developing professionals for success. Essay Submission In order to be considered for our scholarship, students must submit an essay response for each of the four categories outlined below. Responses must be 200 words or less, with a maximum of 800 words per submission. Personal Goals Accomplishments Career Goals Community Impact Microsoft Word and PDF file types are accepted. Academic Levels Considered Incoming freshman Freshman Sophomore Junior Senior All students are required to hold a current grade point average of 3.7 or higher. GPA: 3.00 Units Completed: 12 Minimum Units Enrolled: 12 Two awards of $500 Students from any major are eligible, but must be pursuing a career in education. A supplemental statement and one letter of recommendation are required.

GPA: 3.00 Units Completed: 24 Minimum Units Enrolled: 12 Student must be continuing at CRC in the fall semester. Applicant must major in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) subject and must be on track to complete 24-30 units by June 2022 and plan to graduate by June 2023. The money will be distributed in two equal installments. The recipient will receive $3,200 in Fall 2022 with proof of completion of the first 24 to 30 units and an additional $3,200 for books and tuition in Spring 2023 with proof of enrollment in the remaining units required for graduation with an A.A. or A.S. as verified by a counselor.

GPA: 2.00 Units Completed: 24 Minimum Units Enrolled: 6 Student who has completed 24 units and is continuing at CRC and enrolled in at least 6 units with demonstrated financial need. Those applicants with the greatest financial need will receive top priority in the selection process. Applicants must also meet the following criteria: • Student must be attending a California Community College and must have completed 24 or more “degree applicable” semester units (or the equivalent) at the time of the initial scholarship disbursement. • Student must be enrolled at least half time (6 or more units) at a California Community College during all terms in which the award remains active. • Student must have received a California College Promise Grant (formerly called the Board of Governor’s (BOG) Fee Waiver) (Student does not have to provide proof the selection committee will verify eligibility). • Scholarship will be paid in installments over two semesters. Scholarship recipients can receive up to $600 per semester for a total of $1,200 per year.

Soroptimist International of Sacramento South offers financial aid awards annually to qualified students: one award of $1000 and two awards of $500 each. These awards are available to woman who are head of household and who are in a program to upgrade and enhance their employment skills. The top winner’s application is forwarded to the Soroptimist Region, which offers additional awards of $5000 and $3000. Paper applications are not accepted, and it is important that the applicant include our Club #116503. All applicants will receive a reply.

Before you apply, you MUST first apply for the Coronavirus, Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Emergency Grant. It provides $500 grants to students who have urgent needs related to the pandemic and it has a much simpler application. Only those who have been declined may apply for this fund. If you do not submit an application for the CARES Emergency Grant, your application will not be reviewed and will be returned to draft. The Los Rios Student Emergency Fund provides immediate financial assistance to Los Rios students involved in sudden and unexpected catastrophic or emergency situations. There are a variety of resources available to students in emergency situations. Must not be on academic probation of any kind. • Must be currently enrolled in at least 6 units at a Los Rios college AND have completed at least one semester with a minimum of 6 units. • Must not have more than 60 units without an explanation for the excess of units. • Other possible resources (such as insurance, financial aid or funding from other service organizations) must have been considered and have been found to be unavailable or insufficient. Must show evidence or address in questions, if applicable. • Must first apply for CARES emergency fund and have been declined • *A maximum of one award of up to $500 will be allowed to any one student during all combined enrollments at Los Rios colleges. * • A plan should be included in application that demonstrates that the student will be able to move successfully forward following an award. • Exceptions to these guidelines are rare and will be considered on a case by case basis. • If your emergency is that you have been laid off because of COVID-19, you must show proof that you have been denied unemployment or are ineligible to receive it. Typical emergency-situation expenses that may be covered include but are not limited to: • Safety related needs (i.e. changing a lock on a vehicle or home, relocating). • Replacement of essential personal belongings due to fire, natural disaster or theft (not covered by insurance or other agency). • Costs related to medical care (not covered by insurance or other agency). We would normally help with travel-related to sudden death or illness in the immediate family, but given the current danger posed by travel and the restrictions in place, we are not currently funding any travel expenses. The Student Emergency Fund provides grants of up to $1,000 to Los Rios students who are involved in sudden and unexpected emergencies that threaten their ability to continue their education. Awards for eligible students will be paid through BankMobile. It is highly recommended that you apply for the FAFSA or Dream Act Application before applying and set up a BankMobile account. If you do not have one, your award will be sent via check, but will take several weeks longer to arrive. Application opens on the first day of instruction for the semester and closes the last day of instruction before finals. To be eligible, students must: 1. Demonstrate exceptional need resulting from a sudden, unexpected emergency event 2. Be currently enrolled in at least six units at a Los Rios college (or at least five in summer) 3. Qualify as low-income by meeting the requirements to receive a California College Promise Grant (CCPG) or be projected to receive a California College Promise Grant for the upcoming term. 4. Earn at least a 2.0 grade point average at Los Rios or prior institution in one of the previous three-semester terms (or four-quarter terms) OR be a student who is receiving additional support or services through a community college’s Disabled Student Programs and Services. GPA: 3.00 Units Completed: 6 Minimum Units Enrolled: 6 1) Any transfer major (BA/BS); 2) submit a copy of your DD-214. 3) Provide a 1-page statement describing your intended transfer major and career goal. Include in the paragraph insightful value(s), personal gain(s), and/or “take-away(s)” from your military experience which added to the “quality of character” that you are today.

GPA: 2.50 Units Enrolled: 6 Units Completed: 24 1) Students must be continuing at ARC. 2) Must submit an essay (300-500 words) describing past and present community involvement, participation in ARC activities, and how the award will further the student’s education goals; 3) Two letters of recommendation required.

GPA: 3.00 Units Completed: 6 Minimum Units Enrolled: 6 Student must participate in at least one volunteer activity and provide a statement explaining volunteer experience.

GPA: 3.25 Units Completed: 18 Minimum Units Enrolled: 6 1) Student must be majoring in Computer Information Science and continuing at ARC in the fall semester. 2) Must have completed 18 units in CISP and/or CISW with a 3.25+ GPA; 3) Student must answer the following questions: “As a person from an underrepresented group in CIS, what barriers to equity in the classroom have you encountered and discuss methods that would increase access for you.”

GPA: 2.50 Units Completed: 6 Minimum Units Enrolled: 6 1) Must be transferring in the fall semester; 2) Student must describe in their application past and current participation in a college sanctioned athletic program; 3) Student must provide a letter from their ARC coach as proof that they are in an ARC Athletic program. This may be submitted online, as your only required letter of recommendation. 4) Financial need will be considered

GPA: 2.00 Units Completed: 6 Minimum Units Enrolled: 6 1) In order to apply for this scholarships, student must be continuing at ARC in the fall; 2) Student must have taken or be enrolled in a welding class offered by the ARC art department.

Majors include: Automotive Collision, Automotive Technology, Diesel Technology, Diesel/Clean Diesel, Electrician Trainee, Electronics Technology and Welding Technology.

GPA: 3.00 Units Completed: 9 Minimum Units Enrolled: 6 1) Completion of 9 units toward AA in Gerontology (may include required GE courses); 2) Submit online a one-page statement about education and career goals. Open to students majoring in Gerontology (Associate in Arts degrees).

GPA: 3.00 Units Completed: 6 Minimum Units Enrolled: 6 1) Must have completed Math 401 with a B or better; 2) Provide one additional letter of recommendation (2 letters total) this additional letter must be from an ARC faculty member. Student must be majoring in Design Technology, Math and Science-General majors and transferring in fall 2022.

This may qualify as your only required letter of recommendation. Open to Physical Science/Mathematics and Science-General majors. Student must be majoring in Physical Science/Mathematics or Science-General in the fall semester.

Must be a full time student pursuing a course of study in Culinary Arts/Restaurant Management with a financial need.

GPA: 2.80 Units Completed: 12 Minimum Units Enrolled: 6 1) Must submit online an essay on how the scholarship will help with educational goals; 2) One letter of recommendation must be submitted online that is related to your academic goals; 3) Applicant must have completed a minimum of 12 units toward their degree objective at American River College or any ARC Outreach Center. 4) Scholarship will not be based on financial need. 5) This scholarship is open to students continuing at ARC.

GPA: 3.0 Units Completed: 6 Minimum Units Enrolled: 12 Recipient is expected to demonstrate values consistent with those of the ARC baseball program, including grit, courage and teamwork. Student must be transferring to an accredited four-year institution in the fall.

GPA: 2.00 Units Completed: 6 Minimum Units Enrolled: 6 Open to all majors: 1) Must be a California Dream Act Applicant; 2) must submit an essay explaining challenges endured while attending college with limited or no aid. 3) Student will be verified as a Dream Act Applicant before scholarship is awarded.

GPA: 2.50 Units Completed: 6 Minimum Units Enrolled: 6 1) Preference will be given to a student who participates in college and community activities; 2) financial need will be considered. 3) Student must be majoring in Human Services and continuing at ARC in the fall.

GPA: 3.00 Units Completed: 24 Minimum Units Enrolled: 6 1) Student must be majoring in Culinary Arts/Hospitality Management and continuing at ARC in the fall semester; 2) The referred applicant will be a Veteran of the Armed Services

GPA: 3.00 Units Completed: 6 Minimum Units Enrolled: 6 1) Student must be majoring in Culinary Arts/Hospitality Management and continuing at ARC in the fall; 2) Participation in college and community activities preferred with goal to work in the food service industry; 3) Applicant must provide a brief online statement outlining aspirations and past experience in food related college & community activities.

GPA: 2.00 Units Completed: 6 Minimum Units Enrolled: 6 Open to students majoring in Engineering Technology, Geography/GIS, Mathematics and Science-General majors. Preference will be given to a Geography major.

GPA: 3.00 Units Completed: 6 Minimum Units Enrolled: 6 1) Preference given to a re-entry student who has returned to college after an absence; 2) Must submit online a statement, 500 words or less, explain what events occurred that made the student decide to return to college, what career goals their education will accomplish, and how the scholarship will benefit the student; 3) Must have a declared major in Fire Technology, Gerontology, Nursing & Allied Health, or Paramedic/EMT

GPA: 2.00 Units Completed: 6 Minimum Units Enrolled: 6 Student must be transferring to the University of California system in the fall semester of this year and provide proof by uploading acceptance letter. Preference will be given to a student with financial need. Student must be majoring in Theater – Theatre Arts Performance or Theatre Arts.

GPA: 3.00 Units Completed: 30 Minimum Units Enrolled: 6 1) Must have completed 30 units at ARC; 2) Must have completed or be currently enrolled in at least one honors section; 3) Must have submitted online a recommendation from a community or campus based service organization or the Phi Theta Kappa advisor; 4) Student must be transferring in Fall 2021

GPA: 3.00 Units Completed: 24 Minimum Units Enrolled: 6 Scholarship will be awarded to a deserving ARC student majoring in Fashion Design or Fashion Merchandising who has completed 24 units in fashion design and fashion merchandising with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and must be in financial need

GPA: 3.00 Units Completed: 6 Minimum Units Enrolled: 6 Must have taken Chemistry 400 and 401 and open to students pursuing an AS degree in General Sciences.

GPA: 2.50 Units Completed: 6 Minimum Units Enrolled: 6 1) Preference will be given to a student who participates in college/community activities; 2) financial need will be considered. 4) Student must be transferring in fall 2022.

GPA: 3.00 Units Completed: 6 Minimum Units Enrolled: 6 Preference given to student with participation in college and community activities; financial need considered. Open to students majoring in Human Services or Registered Nursing.

GPA: 3.50 Units Completed: 20 Minimum Units Enrolled: 6 Requires completion of Math 400, 401, 402 and have completed or be currently enrolled in Math 410 or 420. Student must be majoring in Mathematics or Physical Science/Mathematics majors.

GPA: 2.50 Units Completed: 6 Minimum Units Enrolled: 6 Requires recipient to attend a Rotary Club meeting to introduce the scholarship student to the members. Student must be continuing at ARC pursuing an AA or an AS degree in Computer Science, Funeral Services, Teacher education, Nursing or Apprenticeship majors.

GPA: 3.00 Units Completed: 6 Minimum Units Enrolled: 6 1) The Art Department Scholarship Committee will select the recipient, students to provide a portfolio of 7 to 10 original artworks (not slides or CD’s). 2) Supplemental Material: Students must provide an essay to the question “Why do you believe you deserve to be awarded this scholarship?” 3) Student must be majoring in Art, or Studio Art for transferring.

GPA: 2.50 Units Currently Enrolled: 6 Units Completed: 6 Must have participated in one semester of intercollegiate athletics at ARC.

GPA: 3.00 Units Completed: 6 Minimum Units Enrolled: 6 1) This is a merit based scholarship open to students majoring in nursing 2) Applicants must be studying pre-nursing, nursing or allied sciences; 3) Must have completed Chemistry 309 with a B or better at ARC; 4) Must have completed Biology 430, 431 and 440 or 442 with a B or better within two years of completing Chemistry 309 at ARC; 5) Students that have taken Chemistry 305 or 306 or both are excluded from this scholarship; 6) Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation from Chemistry 309, Biology, A&P or Microbiology instructors.

Assistance League Sierra Foothills’ SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM consists of a Community Service Scholarship and Advantage Scholarship. The Community Service Scholarships are awarded to high school seniors who are enrolled in El Dorado County schools and active in community service. The Advantage Scholarship are given to individuals who have overcome significant challenges (family, financial, medical, emotional, etc.) in their lives. Scholarship recipients may choose to attend a trade school, a community college, or a four-year college/university. The program began in 2014 with one scholarship award; we now have multiple scholarship awards annually. During the designated submission period, students begin their application process through the CALocalscholarships.org website. Assistance League receives and reviews the applications and then rates and prioritizes the candidates before making a final selection. Scholarship recipients are notified through their respective schools and given the scholarship during the schools’ award ceremonies. Since its inception seven years ago almost $24,000 has been award through the SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM to outstanding local graduates who have enriched and improved the lives of others or individuals in need of assistance.

One $500 scholarships for STEM student taking 6 or more units with a 3.0 or higher GPA at any Los Rios college. The Association for Women in Science champions the interests of women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics across all disciplines and employment sectors. The students selected for this scholarship will also get a free year of membership to AWIS and will be recognized and invited to attend their annual Awards Banquet.

Allan Kono was a practical joker who spread laughter wherever he went. He also had a great compassion for others and would always share his time and abilities. Must also describe a challenge that they have experienced in achieving their goals and how they have worked or are working to overcome that challenge.

GPA: 2.00 Units Completed: 6 Minimum Units Enrolled: 6 The Building Bridges in Community Scholarship is awarded to a student that exemplifies service to the Greater Sacramento community. Recipients should demonstrate their commitment to volunteerism, community service and/or civic engagement through their participation in and involvement with community-based organizations (e.g. faith-based organizations, non-profit organizations, etc.). Recipients are required to submit a short essay.

Student pursuing a teaching credential who has financial need and has the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Recipients must send a Thank You letter to the California Retired Teachers Association and attend the Los Rios awards ceremony/luncheon, as well as the CalRTA Scholarship Lunch.

(Real estate courses are those that are defined by the California Department of Real Estate as meeting pre-license education course requirements or as required by the institution for completion of a real estate certificate). Her tumultuous life was greatly influenced by the Civil Rights Movement, and the music she created served as its soundtrack. She famously said, “An artist’s duty…is to reflect the times.” With this scholarship, you are encouraged to do just that. How can your music make a greater impact? This scholarship is for students continuing at CRC in the fall semester and requires a video submission (YouTube link). In the video submission, students will perform music of their choice (2 to 5 minutes), as well as verbally express what they intend to do with their scholarship funds and how they might use music to transform their community now or in the future. Primary consideration is given to Black, Indigenous, People of Color, LGBTQIA+ vocalists and musicians. However, students of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. All styles of music are welcome. Winners of the scholarship are expected to take part in a public or virtual performance guided by the panel. There are two awards available.

Cybersecurity is an important industry that helps protect people as they use technology. In order for people to utilize technology to its full capacity and to create innovation in the field, cybersecurity must be prioritized. The Cybersecurity Scholarship will provide assistance with paying for industry certifications or for tuition. All undergraduate students pursuing a career in cybersecurity are eligible to apply. In your essay, write about why you are passionate about information security and how you are working to advance your skills in the field.

DESCRIPTION The McCaffery Education Scholarship is made available by people who understand the value of education. Open to any majors for degree or certification. This scholarship was created by the Sacramento Lodge #2 Order of Odd Fellows, which recognizes outstanding volunteerism and and academic goals.

Open to all full-time FLC students {12 units or more) in any course of study with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Community service experience preferred since the scholarship donor is primarily dedicated to raising funds and doing hands-on service work for charitable causes in the greater community. One letter of recommendation required.

Students must have received a CCC Board of Governor’s (BOG) fee waiver, and be making satisfactory progress toward a degree, but academic performance, such as grades or test scores, shall not be considered by the selection committee. The Soroptimist Live Your Dream: Education & Training Awards for Women program has been helping women around the world since 1972. This program provides cash grants to women who are working to better their lives through additional schooling and skills training.

Applicant must be an Aeronautics or Teacher Education major at SCC. Preference will be given to students who are active in areas such as sports, school or community clubs, or volunteerism.

Applicants must have completed two semesters of 12 units each at SCC and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicants must be continuing at SCC and working toward a four-year degree and have financial need. Students with evidence of initiative/leadership in the classroom or community and who are under age 30 will have preference.

Must be currently attending SCC and transferring by the end of the calendar year or graduating with an associate degree by the end of the calendar year and transferring to a four-year college.

SCC applicanst must have a keen interest in Business and be planning to complete a degree in this area of study. This award will be made on the basis of academic excellence with consideration for students with financial need.

Applicants must be majoring in English or Theatre Arts at SCC.

Applicant must be in the SCC nursing program and have a 3.0 GPA. Must submit two letters of recommendation. At least one must be from an SCC Nursing faculty member.

SCC students with a minimum 3.2 GPA must be transferring to a college or university in the fall to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Business and be involved in activities on and off campus. Preference given to students with financial need.

Applicant must be a math major with demonstrated financial need.

GPA: 3.00 Units Completed: 6 Minimum Units Enrolled: 12 Open to all full-time SCC students {12 units or more) in any course of study with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Community service experience preferred since the scholarship donor is primarily dedicated to raising funds and doing hands-on service work for charitable causes in the greater community.

Applicants must be students continuing at SCC in the fall semester. Applicants must be receiving the CA Promise fee waiver, must be residents of CA, must have completed 24 degree-applicable units at time of award disbursement. Priority will be given to those with greatest financial need. Scholarship will be paid in installments over two semesters. $600 will be awarded in the fall semester and $600 in the spring semester.

This scholarship supports students who have demonstrated a dedication to the Portuguese culture.

The Union-Tehama Scholarship is awarded to deserving low income students, who are active in the community and / or church, $1,000.00 to attend the college of their choice in the Los Rios College District or CSUS. Funds will be deposited at the school to be drawn upon for expenses and supplies. The Awardee will be chosen on GPA and income only. There will be only one scholarship chosen each year.
