The P.E.O. STAR Scholarship was established in 2009 to provide scholarships for exceptional high school senior women to attend an accredited post-secondary educational institution in the U.S. or Canada in the next academic year. Scholarship This is a non-renewable $2,500 scholarship for graduating women in their final year of high school which must be used in the academic year following graduation or it will be forfeited. At the discretion of the recipient, funds may be paid directly to the recipient or to the accredited educational institution. Funds used for tuition and fees or required books and equipment are usually non-taxable for income tax purposes. Funds used for room and board might be reportable income for tax purposes. Recipients and their families will decide on the use of funds and will be responsible for any taxes incurred. Recipients and their families should seek professional tax guidance. The chapter will advise the applicant that she will be emailed instructions for logging into her online account to complete her portion of the application. Submission of the Chapter Recommendation Form must be made online, following the online instructions, between August 15 and October 15. The Student Profile, Student Activity Charts, original one-page essay, two references, an unofficial high school transcript (through the 11th grade/junior year) must be submitted online no later than 30 calendar days after the applicant has received a link with login information. You must be a first-year student with a 3.0 GPA. Park Foundation Scholarship. It is aimed at full-time single parents who are students with a clear financial need. Downer-Bennett Scholarship. You can receive from $200 to $1,000 of financial assistance if you have a good GPA and will complete at least 12 hours per semester. Live Your Dreams Award. You can receive from $3,000 to $10,000 assistance if you are a single parent who has been through poverty, domestic violence, drug, or alcohol abuse. You must have a financial need and belong to a Soroptimist International territory. Scholarships 4 Moms. You can receive $10,000 assistance to fund the school of your choice as a single mom by becoming a part of the foundation. Endowed and Named Scholars An endowed PCE Fund may be established in honor or memory of an individual or chapter. The funds are held in the P.E.O. Foundation. A one-time gift of USD $3,000 may be designated as a Named Grant in honor or memory of an individual or chapter.

The P.E.O. Scholar Awards was established in 1991 to provide substantial merit-based awards for women of the U.S. and Canada who are pursuing a doctoral-level degree at an accredited college or university. Overview The P.E.O. Scholar Awards are one-time, competitive, merit-based awards intended to recognize and encourage academic excellence and achievement by women in doctoral-level programs. These awards provide partial support for study and research. P.E.O. Scholars have demonstrated their ability to make significant contributions in their chosen field of study, having assumed leadership positions in university academics, scientific research, medicine, law, performing arts, international economics, history, literature, government, and other demanding fields. Awards are announced annually in the spring for the ensuing academic year. *The number of awards is determined each year in accordance with the funds available. * Eligibility Requirements A woman is eligible for nomination by a local chapter if she: Is a citizen or legal permanent resident of the U.S. or Canada at the time of her nomination At a minimum, has a bachelor’s degree Is within two years of her graduation date and has at least one full academic year of work remaining to complete her doctoral-level degree as measured from the time the first award payment is made (August 1). Those in a multiple-degree program (e.g., pursuing both an M.D. and a Ph.D.) must be within two years of completing the entire program from that date. Is enrolled in her program at an accredited U.S. or Canadian college or university. Studying abroad is permitted provided the student is enrolled in the U.S. or Canadian post-secondary institution. Is enrolled part-time at the time of nomination, provided she is enrolled full time during the year of the award Application Information Nominations of potential Scholars are accepted from P.E.O. chapters between August 20 and November 20 each year. Nominees then have 45 days after their nomination is approved to complete their application. Awards are announced in the spring of each year. UCF Global The Lewis Foundation Scholarship The Lewis Foundation Scholarship seeks to provide funding for students from the Commonwealth of The Bahamas for education and related expenses to study at UCF. The value of this scholarship is $25,000 and will cover all educational expenses for one academic year including tuition and fees at the resident rate, living expenses, and mandatory health insurance costs. These interdisciplinary awards provide multi-year support to the most qualified applicants to the institution. The mission of the Toni Jennings Exceptional Education Institute (TJEEI) is to facilitate the development of knowledge and skills necessary to provide educational and clinical services for children and adults with exceptional needs and their families through interdisciplinary research, practice, and partnerships. Research is needed on how the learning sciences- the scientific study of how people learn- can inform how technology is developed and used in school settings. TJEEI helps develop and implement learning resources utilizing technology to embody design principles from the learning sciences. Focusing on the development and implementation of innovations directly aligns with the UCF strategic plan of scale and excellence resulting in impact. The UCF Top 10 Knights Program is available to incoming freshman at the University of Central Florida. Criteria: Applicant must be enrolled at the university as a full-time student, in the College majoring in finance, management, real estate, marketing, or sales; or a student enrolled as a full-time undergraduate in another college and enrolled in the College’s Professional Sales Program. Applicant must be junior standing or above. Applicant must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Applicants must demonstrate financial need based upon guidelines set forth in the Free Application from Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The criteria for awarding the Scholarship will be consistent with the guidelines established by the University Office of Student Financial Assistance.

Must currently be enrolled as a high school or college/university student within the United States. Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (or the equivalent). Must be an American citizen, permanent resident, or hold a valid student visa. Must have designed an innovative project that makes a difference in the lives of others (This could be a website, series of blogs, an app, fundraising event, etc.) Must submit an essay describing the goal of the particular project and provide supporting documentation. The essay, idea, or creation must be the applicant’s original work. All submissions must be uploaded no later than 11:59 pm PST on the 20th of each month. The submission window closes starting the 21st and will reopen on the 1st at 8:00 a.m.

The Westinghouse First Generation Scholarship is designed to support first-generation students as defined by the Florida State grant for first-generation students. 1. The iconic Magna Carta was signed in 1215 in England as a way to make peace between an unpopular King and a group of barons. The charter promised the protection of church rights, protection for the barons from illegal imprisonment, access to swift justice, and limitations on feudal payments to the Crown. Even though its content was watered down over the years, the Magna Carta remains a significant document centuries following its inception because it stands for the notion that in a civilized society, no man or woman—not even a King or Queen— is exempt from the rule of law. The Magna Carta did not explicitly establish the right to a jury trial, but its clause that mentions “the lawful judgment of his peers” is often cited as an essential right as it relates to loss of liberty (like for example, arrest, prison or execution), and fundamental due process. It remains significant in our lives because it is the basis of the founding principles of our democracy and legal system and influenced the enlightenment of early American colonists during formation of the United States Constitution, which became the supreme law of the land in the new republic of the United States.
