Awarded to deserving junior undergraduates enrolled as majors or minors (or intended) in the School of Hospitality Leadership. Through a recently establish partnership between DePaul University and the J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation, the DePaul University School of Hospitality Leadership is now accepting applications for the J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation Hospitality Scholarship. A total of 10 scholarships will be awarded with a value of $10,000 each. This scholarship is designed to assist in the retention and development of existing DePaul University hospitality students as they successfully work towards completing their undergraduate degree. It is reserved for junior undergraduate students enrolled as majors or minors (or intended) in the School of Hospitality Leadership. A junior is an enrolled student that has at least 96 credits and no more than 144 credits on their official DePaul University transcript. Priority is given to those students who are first in their family to attend college and who come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Additionally, scholarship recipients are chosen based on demonstrated financial need, academic performance, co-curricular student activity, such as belonging to hospitality clubs or holding club leadership positions, and having full or part time jobs in the hospitality industry. If awarded the scholarship, funds will be paid to the student in a $5000 installment during their junior year, and a second and final installment during their senior year, pending continued commitment to the School of Hospitality Leadership. About the Morris Bart, LLC Anti-Distracted Driving Scholarship As part of our goal to help students thrive as they move to college and reduce the number of injuries and deaths resulting from distracted driving, Morris Bart, LLC created the Anti-Distracted Driving Scholarship of $2,500. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), distracted driving in the United States results in nine deaths and more than 1,000 injuries every day. The winning applicant will submit a video of 90 seconds or less that helps encourage drivers to stay focused on the road. Scholarship for students who, reside or have resided in one of Chicagos financially depressed neighborhoods, and have been accepted to DePaul University as full-time freshmen. Student must rank in the top 50% of their graduating class, possess a strong motivation to succeed, and be committed to community service and assisting youth. Finalists must attend an interview in April. Award will meet the full need of the student by filling the gap after federal and state funds are utilized. The award may be applied toward tuition and room & board, will vary depending on the students need, and is renewable up to $40,000 over 4 years. Number of awards varies.

The Richard J. Meister Scholarship lies in the tradition of DePaul scholars who critically reflect on societal issues and problem solving methods to achieve societal goals and engage in service within the local and/or global community. The Irwin W. Steans Center for Community-based Service Learning at DePaul University invites current DePaul students to apply for the Richard J. Meister Scholarship. The Meister Scholarship is an award of $1,500 for DePaul University students for the 2021-2022 academic year. Applicants should have prior experience doing community-based work, assisting individuals served by community-based organizations, advocating for causes, or other experience that demonstrates commitment to civic engagement. All DePaul students are eligible, with a special consideration for students ages 25 and older.

Scholarship for incoming freshmen accepted to DePaul Universitys School of Accountancy. The following criteria are guidelines, not minimums. Student should have a minimum composite ACT of 27 or combined SAT of 1220, rank in the top 10% of their high school class, and present an outstanding record of involvement in campus and/or community activities. Finalist must attend an interview in February. The Ledger & Quill scholarships are for full-tuition, the Charles Melvoin & Eldred Strobel scholarships are for 1/2 tuition, and the Goss scholarships are for $2,000. Number of awards varies. The Institute for Daisaku Ikeda Studies in Education, through its Value-Creating Education scholarship, provides recognition and financial assistance to students enrolled in the Master of Education (MEd) program in Value-Creating Education for Global Citizenship who are in good academic standing. The scholarship, worth $15,000, covers full tuition for one academic year in the program. To qualify, applicants must: -Be a graduate student enrolled in the Master of Education (MEd) program in Value-Creating Education for Global Citizenship -Demonstrate good academic standing -Demonstrate financial need Additional consideration may be given to students from underrepresented populations or underrepresented geographic locations in the field of value-creating education or those who demonstrate an interest in or commitment to working with underrepresented populations. The EPISTEM Scholarship is funded through a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and is designed to provide financial, social and academic support to academically talented, low-income students (as evidenced by eligibility for a Pell grant) in order to increase their academic and career success. Known for his trademark fedora and his vast knowledge of Illinois politics, Carlos covered local and national news stories for both CLTV and WBEZ-FM. He died of cancer on January 17, 2010 at the age of 36. Carlos had been a student at DePaul during the mid-1990’s, writing for the The DePaulia student newspaper and working as a disc jockey for WRDP radio (now Radio DePaul) during his tenure. It is the hope of the Carlos Hernandez Meritorious Scholarship in Journalism committee that this scholarship fund will help younger generations of talented DePaul students fulfill their aspirations to enter the field of journalism.

The Community and Project Based Learning internship scholarship is awarded to part-time or full-time students in in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. This award is for both master’s level and undergraduate students. Students in a PhD cohort/track are not eligible to apply. Students performing their internship (paid or unpaid) at DePaul, for a DePaul department, are not eligible to apply. There are multiple scholarships per quarter. During the academic year, this scholarship supports a financial aid award. Students must be enrolled in a credit-bearing class associated with their internship. This scholarship is intended to support a 10 week, 10 hour/week department-sponsored internship with a domestic or international non-profit, non-governmental organization, or government entity. However, that timing can alter depending on circumstances. The internship, or a portion of the internship, must be project(s)-based and related to the student’s academic skills or interests, designed in collaboration with the internship site, for the benefit of the community or organization. The internship may contain other task-based components, but for this purpose, the student must focus upon the project-based nature of the work. This scholarship is competitive. Students must provide robust answers. Not all academic internships or clinical experiences are project-based and therefore, may not be considered for this award. Students must be in good academic and disciplinary standing and enrolled as part-time or full-time in the quarter in which the internship takes place. The College of Communication is hiring one additional graduate assistant for the Spring 2022 quarter to serve as a teaching assistant in CMNS 280 Introduction to Digital Skills with Dr. Sam Close. CSIS JOURNALISM BOOTCAMP – SUMMER 2022 The DePaul Journalism Program and the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), a bipartisan think tank, jointly offer a unique practicum experience through the CSIS Journalism Bootcamp in Summer 2022. We seek 10 talented students to represent DePaul in this program, which will involve an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. (July 16-23, 2022). Selected students will engage in a multimedia reporting project that investigates food waste issues and solutions, thereby gaining knowledge and skills in storytelling and explanatory journalism. During the week-long stay in D.C. students will have opportunities to interview world-renowned experts and interact with veteran journalists as well as top-level speakers on the subject matter. DePaul students will work with CSIS iDeas Lab mentors to produce a long-form story in multimedia (written text, audio, video, data visualization). Primarily, community engagement includes community-based service learning (CbSL). The Graduate Assistant is responsible for the logistics of the CbSL curriculum with a special emphasis on CbSL hour surveillance and reporting. Moreover, the Graduate Assistant works in conjunction with the Community Engagement Coordinator to fulfill program projects. Internships during the regular academic year must be credit bearing, though the amount of credit earned through the associated course is up to the student and their academic or internship advisor to determine. Associated courses may be formal internship courses, independent studies, or content courses, as appropriate to the student’s degree program. The Community Engagement Scholarship is awarded to part-time or full-time graduate (masters) students in in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. There are multiple scholarships per quarter. Students must be a master’s student in LAS. The internship must be for-credit, but the amount of credit and way in which that is approached (class, independent study, etc.) should be determined by the department/faculty sponsor and the student. This scholarship is intended to support a 10 week, 10 hour/week department-sponsored internship with a domestic or international non-profit, non-governmental organization, or government entity. The internship must be project(s)-based and related to the student’s academic skills or interests, designed in collaboration with the internship site, for the benefit of the community or organization. The award will support students attending a professional conference, completing project research for a capstone course, or studying abroad in pursuit of their educational endeavors. The applicant must have completed 24 quarter credit hours towards their MA, be in good academic standing within the program, and submit a completed proposal via the DePaul online scholarship application website. The MOL Graduate Education Award will be given via reimbursement for travel expenses. The American Studies Program at DePaul University sponsors the Richard deCordova Scholarship competition to honor and celebrate our late, beloved colleague, a founding member of the American Studies Program, and one of the Program’s most loyal supporters. In keeping with Richard deCordova’s teaching and scholarly interests, and with his own standards of excellence, essays or projects in U.S. American Studies or U. S. film or media studies, by currently enrolled DePaul undergraduates, are eligible for the scholarship. The Singer Research Fund 2017: “Reforming Religions: Jews, Christians and Evolving Modernity” departs on June 17, 2017 and returns on June 30, 2017. These dates will be solidified prior to final acceptance into the program. 2017 is the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther’s “Disputation on the Power and Efficacy of Indulgences” and his posting of 95 thesis on the church door at Wittenburg Castle. Though not the first and certainly not the only radical reformation of Christianity, Luther’s action – situated at a particular time and place in history – had and has a profound effect on the history of Christianity and, indeed, word history since the 16th century. Professors Alexei Sivertsev and James Halstead will lead a study excursion to Germany to study religious reform in Judaism and Christianity. Based in Munich and Berlin, with overnights in German cities significant to the Luther celebration and the German Jewish experience, students will learn the history of the past 500 years of reform movements in Judaism and Christianity, consider the dynamics of reform The Singer Research fund is available for undergraduate Religious Studies majors in good academic standing who are not graduating in June 2017. If you are a graduating senior, you are not eligible for this trip. Preference will be given to those exhibiting financial need. Consideration may also be given to students majoring in Catholic Studies and Islamic World Studies and minors in Religious Studies, Catholic Studies and Islamic World Studies. The Arthur D. James Fellowship in Museum Studies at DePaul Art Museum provides an opportunity for a student in one of many related fields (including, but not limited to Anthropology, Art History, History, Museum Studies, Education, English, Studio Art, Philosophy, Critical Ethnic Studies, Latino Studies, Black Diaspora studies, Women and Gender Studies, Communications, etc.) to gain hands-on experience and pre-professional training in the practice of museum administration, collections management and care, exhibition development and implementation, community outreach, and/or museum education. All projects at DePaul Art Museum share a mission to enrich the university’s commitments to excellence, diversity, and social concerns. Additionally, DPAM is collaborating with departments in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences to develop a virtual exhibition focused on social justice and activist photographs from a local private collection. Dental Health at Nottingham Smiles is of paramount importance, something that is not simply limited to when problems emerge. More than a quarter of adults only see the dentist when there is a problem, which often means the chance to stop major issues before they emerge is lost. To help spread the word about good tooth care, we are introducing the Nottingham Smiles Scholarship Contest, where the entrant that best explains healthy teeth habits will win a £1000 scholarship for their future in education. Who Is Allowed to Enter? To enter, you need to be a student (no age limit). Please make sure to note your educational status in your email entry. What is Needed to Enter? To enter, simply write a 500 word article on the importance of good dental hygiene. Entrants will need to detail precisely why these habits are beneficial to a general audience. The Ron Culp Endowed Scholarship for Future Leaders in Public Relations supports deserving students interested in pursuing a career in public relations. The scholarship provides recognition and financial assistance to College of Communication public relations and advertising (PRAD) majors and minors in good academic standing, who have financial need, and intend to pursue a career in public relations. Special consideration will be given to first-generation students.

To provide recognition and financial assistance to continuing undergraduate students enrolled in the 2021-2022 academic year (as a sophomore, junior or senior) in the School of Accountancy and MIS. Consideration will be given to those who exhibit academic merit and financial need. Special consideration may also be given to a student with family members who were or are officers with the Chicago Police Department or teachers with the Chicago Public Schools.

Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be U.S. citizens/permanent residents, and demonstrate academic excellence, academic achievement, interest in Polish subjects or involvement in the Polish American community. Undergraduate LAS Community- and Project-Based Learning (CPBL) Internship Scholarship is awarded to part-time or full-time undergraduate students in in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. There are multiple scholarships per quarter. Students must be of sophomore, junior or senior status. Students can be majors or double-majors/minors. The internship must be for-credit, but the amount of credit and way in which that is approached (class, independent study, etc.) should be determined by the department/faculty sponsor and the student. For example, a student can select to complete this internship as a part of a class (2 to 4 credit hours) or they may decide to engage in the internship as a part of an independent study (usually 1 credit hour) set-up with a faculty member. This information will be required prior to awarding of the scholarship. This scholarship is intended to support a 10 week, 10 hour/week department-sponsored internship with a domestic or international non-profit, non-governmental organization, or government entity. The internship must be project(s)-based and related to the student’s academic skills or interests, designed in collaboration with the internship site, for the benefit of the community or organization. In the application questions, the student must focus upon the project-based nature of the work. Not all academic internships or clinical experiences are project-based. Please note, the faculty name and email being provided is NOT for a reference letter. This should be the person in charge of the academic portion of your internship. This faculty or staff member will be asked about assessment goals and grading. Some units have advisors that handle this, some have chairs/directors, some have faculty/staff point people and some allow faculty at-large to sponsor these academic endeavors. This endowed scholarship provides recognition and financial assistance to students enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences who are majoring in History, are in good academic standing, have financial need and are participating in a DePaul-sponsored study abroad program. The Donors’ intent is for this fund to be used to offset study abroad program fees. There is one application deadline annually. The award can then be applied to any study abroad program traveling in any term that academic year.

The purpose of this scholarship is to support Finance students enrolled in the Banking & Capital Markets and Investment Management Finance academies or students who are members of the Females in Finance and DePaul Inclusion in Finance student organizations.

The Community Engagement Scholarship is awarded to part-time or full-time undergraduate or graduate students in the Department of Women and Gender Studies to support a 10 hour/week department-sponsored internship with a non-profit organization whose work is supported by The Julian Grace Foundation. There are multiple scholarships available. For undergraduate students, the scholarship award is $3690.00 for a 6 credit-hour internship. For graduate students, the scholarship award is $2740.00 for a 4 credit-hour internship. Eligibility Students must be in good standing (i.e., not on academic probation) and enrolled as part-time or full-time in the Spring or Summer Sessions Quarters 2017-18. The student need not be enrolled in the credit-bearing class associated with department internships, but must adhere to the requirements of the department in regards to this process. Scholarship Disbursement Schedule and Financial Guidelines All funds will be disbursed through the financial aid system as a tuition scholarship at the beginning of the term.
