Scholarships at Indiana University-Bloomington

This scholarship was established by Dr. Rosanne Bonjouklian, a valued friend to the School and an active supporter of the Project SEED Summer Research Program for high school students. The scholarship supports former student participants in Project SEED. The Indianapolis Project SEED offers a four-year renewable scholarship (up to $2,000) for ACS-Stipend students who have participated in the summer research program as a high school student and then enroll in the IUPUI School of Science for their college education. The Project SEED Scholarship is intended for Indianapolis-area students who have successfully participated in Project SEED, a program of the American Chemical Society—Indiana Section. Students must attend IUPUI and pursue a degree in the School of Science with a major in biology, chemistry, computer science, environmental science, forensic and investigative sciences, geology, interdisciplinary studies, mathematics, neuroscience, physics, and/or psychology. Consideration may be given to students who pursue IUPUI degrees in engineering, technology or one of the health sciences, such as nursing and public health. Scholarships will be awarded up to $2,000, renewable for four years pending a grade point average of at least 3.00 in maintained, to former Project SEED participants to pursue science or science-related degrees, including Nursing, at IUPUI. The recipient must be a student enrolled in the dental program and the Award, a certificate and a minimum cash award of $250, will be awarded annually to the student who has financial need and who has shown an interest in or an aptitude for oral medicine and/or oral diagnosis. Employee-Related award for natural or legally adopted children of current 1st Source Corporation employees (with 3 years consecutive employment) that plan to pursue full-time postsecondary education at Indiana University South Bend, Indiana University Northwest or Indiana University Purdue-Fort Wayne. The Educational Opportunity Fellowship is awarded to full-time incoming and continuing graduate students intending to pursue a masters or doctoral degree at Indiana University. The students must be nominated by a Sociology faculty member who has taught the student or supervised his/her work. Adam Hayden aimed to cultivate professoinal interest in philosophy. Adam hoped that students find their own lives enriched by the study of philosophy, event when those skills are put in service of seeing their way through personal struggle, as Adam has done. The Adam Hayden Philosophy Scholarship supports undergraduate and/or graduate students enrolled in the Department of Philosophy at the School of Liberal Arts who demonstrate academic excellence in philosophy. Recipients will be pursuing a degree in philosophy. A GPA greater or equal to 3.5 out of a 4.0 scale is required. Additionally, the applicant must demonstrte their aim to cultivate professional interest in the discipline of Philosophy. The department bases its selection on superior scholastic achievement, faculty recommendations, and active engagement with the Department of Philosophy. No student application needed. This scholarship honors the memory of Alice Chandler Gockley and Gordon E. Gockley, both alumni of Indiana University. Alice earned her M.A. in History in 1955 and Gordon earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in German in 1954 and 1963. Alice was an avid lifelong reader and book collector and a former school librarian who placed a high value on education. Gordon was a man of arts and letters, a gourmet cook, lover of opera and Shakespeare, and a professor of German at Mott Community College in Flint, MI for more than 30 years. He was dedicated to student learning and believed his life was changed by the international study abroad experience he had during his undergraduate years. The Alice Chandler Gockley and Gordon E. Gockley Memorial Scholarship supports undergraduate students for international study. The recipients must be enrolled in the School of Liberal Arts and will have been accepted to an accredited international stud program or enrolled in a Liberal Arts course that contains and international component that requires travel outside of the United States. The recipient should have demonstrated financial need, as determined by standard university measures. Applicants will need to submit a faculty letter of recommendation, study abroad information flyer including description of program and costs, and write an essay about study abroad plans, interest in language/culture study, future education and career plans and the importance of the study abroad program to you Liberal Arts education. The Alpha Blackburn Scholarship for the Arts was established in 2013 to support undergraduate scholarships for full-time incoming freshmen enrolled in any area of study at Herron School of Art and Design. The recipient must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and demonstrate outstanding talent, as determined by Herron faculty. Special consideration will be given to underrepresented populations including, but not limited to, financially challenged students and/or students with diverse cultural experiences. Preference will be given to African American students who demonstrate financial need. Applicants must submit a portfolio of artwork in order to be considered for this award. The Amber Curtis Pratcher Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a member of Student African American Sisterhood (SAAS). The recipient must be an active member of SAAS (based on participation in meetings, service and programs), have a minimum 2.5 GPA and be enrolled full-time at IUPUI. The scholarship winner must uphold the legacy of Amber Pratcher who was committed to women of color, innovation, and leadership.

This scholarship celebrates the life and memory of a remarkable public servant, citizen, veteran, teacher, friend, husband, and father. He was a Democrat who served the central Indiana district in the U.S. House of Representatives for 30 years and who later brought his commitment to democracy to the classroom as an adjunct faculty member in political science in the IU School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI. This scholarship was created to recognize the potential of all students to make important contributions to our community and nation. The Andy Jacobs, Jr. Memorial Scholarship provides an annual scholarship for an undergraduate student enrolled in the IU School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI. The recipient may be a full-time or part-time student, must be in good academic standing (although recipient selection should not be based on academic achievement or performance), but demonstrated financial need and a demonstrated thirst for justice and a passion for addressing social concerns in an innovative and compassionate manner. Note: The statement will be made in the format of a podcast in which the student communicates his or her ideas and motivation(s) and how he/she relates this passion to his/her educational pursuits. The selection committee sill place priority on the applicants’ oral communication skills. Students will also be required to share the podcast.

Given annually to students enrolled in their 3rd year of the doctorate of dental surgery degree program at the School of Dentistry and be a leader and or volunteer. Preference will be given to students representing the north Central District Dental Society which comprises Elkhart, St. Joseph, Kosciusko or Marshall Counties.

Professor Anna K. Suter was an advocate for students, promoting academic success and encouraging many students to persist and achieve their degree objectives. This scholarship was established in her memory to support full-time undergraduate students, thus ensuring that the next generation of mathematicians would be recognized for their achievements. Recipients must be enrolled in a School of Science mathematics program. Recipient must be enrolled in the IUPUI Purdue School of Science.

This scholarship awarded to a student admitted into the Kelley School of Business fulfilling a RISE component.

Created to honor the memory of Audrey Harshbarger, Jean Belle’s grandmother, whose belief and faith in young people and commitment to their learning through experience has inspired many to further Indiana University’s mission and to encourage others to give to Indiana University. This award seeks to support students who study abroad because that experience develops a person’s understanding of our place in a global society, and the donors believe that this experience is integral to a person’s education. Eligible candidates will be undergraduate students majoring or minoring in a Liberal Arts discipline and enrolled in an accredited study abroad program for a semester or yearlong academic program (summer programs are not eligible). Eligible students must be: Enrolled for academic credit, and the program in which they are enrolled must be a part of the student’s undergraduate program of study. Student must have a minimum 2.72 GPA out of a 4.0 scale. Credit must be agreed upon with the department or program and placed in the student’s record before departure. Expenditures may include, but are not limited to, reasonable living expenses, and/or travel to and from the program site and may not exceed one third of those expenses. Selection will be made by a committee of based on: applicant’s academic record an essay on the reasons the study abroad program will positively impact their academic and professional goals (maximum 500 words). a letter of recommendation from a faculty member.

The donors wish to recognize and celebrate their friends and mentors, Barbara E. and Karl R. Zimmer, who were dedicated, generous, and long-standing advocates of Liberal Arts education adn particularly of the importance of language education and learning. Barbara Zimmer, a faculty member, played a central role in the development of the curriculum for English for non-native speakers at IUPUI. Karl Zimmer was a long-time board member and chair of the International Center for Intercultural Communication at IUPUI and has been recognized for his service to Indiana University with a honory doctorate of humane letters. This scholarship supports students enrolled in the Department of English graduate program in applied linguistics or TESOL in the School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI who have a record of academic excellence. Preference will be given to graduate students in English applied linguistics affiliated with the International Center for Intercultural Communication (ICIC) at IUPUI. Faculty nominate and select this scholarship’s recipient; no student applications are accepted. Nominated students will be asked by a faculty member to submit a short statement of purpose.

Awarded to a student enrolled in the School and pursuing teacher certification who can demonstrate financial need. Must have a 3.0 GPA. Special consideration shall be given to minority students. Students who receive the scholarship for their junior year shall be eligible to apply again for their senior year, so long as they remain qualified.

This scholarship supports Liberal Arts students who are pursuing futures in teaching. The scholarship honors the memory of Barbara White Thoreson, whose devotion to teaching and to the students she taught inspired a love for learning in those who knew her. Eligible recipients must be pursuing a degree in Liberal Arts but may also have a double major with education or be pursuing some other certification as a teacher. Each application must include an essay that includes a description of the applicant’s educational program/certification plans/preparation for a career in teaching and addresses how this opportunity will benefit the student’s personal and career goals. (maximum 500 words) Additional eligible expenditures may be included with this scholarship. Students may choose to use the supplemental money as additional scholarship funds or for activities which enrich the recipients’ educational experiences and further their goal of becoming a professional educator (activities may include, but are not limited to, study abroad, conference attendance, research projects, and funded internships).

James G. Beaudry was an Assistant Professor of French in the IU School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI. His academic interests were the ""Essais"" of Montaigne and French-speaking Candadian literature and civilization. Believing that the study of a foreign language must include immersion in the culture, Beaudry and his wife, Agnes, have long been propoents of study abroad experience for their students. Professor Emeritus Beaudry endowed the Beaudry Summer Scholarship for French and Francophone Studies, as well as provided additional funds to renovate space to create a language resource center, known as the Beaudry Resource Center. Professor Emeritus Beaudry and his wife also established a planned gift to create a second scholarship, the Beaudry Scholarship for Prospective French Teachers, to allow students to study their craft in French universities. In recognition of their extraordinary generosity, Professor Emeritus James G. Beaudry received the IUPUI Spirit of Philanthropy Award in 2003. The Beaudry Summer Scholarship Fund for French and Francophone Studies promotes and encourages the cultural and linguistic development of IUPUI students majoring or minoring in French by providing scholarship support for the student to participate in an IU-accredited study abroad program in an French-speaking country during the summer session. Preference will be given to an undergraduate French major in the IU School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI. If no eligible major applies, the scholarship may be awarded to a student pursuing a French minor. Created by Professor Emerita Gabrielle Bersier who wished to advance the study of world languages and cultures by students and recognize student achievement and potential, this scholarship supports an undergraduate student who is enrolled part-time or full-time, majoring in the Department of World Languages and Cultures, or is enrolled in the Individualized Major Program with a world language concentration, and who has a record of academic excellence. Applicant must have at least one year of study until graduation. Preference will be given to a student who has demonstrated service to their language discipline. Selection will be based on a rotation among the existing language programs. To be considered, students will request a letter of recommendation from a Liberal Arts faculty member and write an essay of 250 words that explains interest in the language and describes service to the language discipline.

The Carlin Award for an Outstanding Graduate Student Paper in Empirical Economics was created to honor Professor Emeritus of Economics, Paul Carlin. Dr. Carlin’s research examined many areas from the academic wage structure by gender to finding a significant link between motor vehicle dependence and obesity in OECD countries. As former Department Chair, Dr. Carlin made many contributions to the Department of Economics during his time at IUPUI especially in the areas of human resources, labor economics and experimental economics. The recipient of the Carlin Award will be enrolled in the graduate program of the Department of Economics within the School of Liberal Arts. The recipient will have written an outstanding paper in the area of empirical economics. This award is faculty nominated and selected; there are no student applications. The Center for Research on Inclusion & Social Policy (CRISP) Evaluation Clinic is looking for students to serve as CRISP Clinic Fellows for Spring 2021. Fellows will work with Indianapolis community organizations to conduct original community-engaged research or evaluation. Fellows will work in teams to learn about local issues and support community organizations. Fellows will: Meet once a week to receive relevant trainings and provide project updates. The award will support a student participating in a study abroad that interacts with the study of the classical world. The award is open to IU School of Liberal Arts undergraduate students minoring in Classical Studies. The applicant must plan to study abroad during a summer term or during the upcoming academic year. Further, the applicant must be able to show proof of acceptance to an accredited IU study abroad program.

This scholarship has been established in memory of Dr. Daniel Nützel, former German professor and Director of the Max Kade German-American Center at IUPUI to honor his contributions to the German Program at IUPUI and the German-American community of Indiana. The scholarship supports undergraduate or graduate students with a proven interest in German American Studies and provides the recipient the opportunity to work in a professional internship over teh course of one semester or over the summer. The professional internship will provide hands-on learning experiences in community institutions with a German-American tie. Eligible applicants are full or part-time junior or senior undergraduate students enrolled with a major or minor in German, or to a graduate student with a proven interest in German-American studies. Candidates must have a record of academic excellence as demonstrated by a minimum GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale. Established in 1986, the David K. Rubins Scholarship is awarded annually to incoming freshmen who will be enrolled full-time. Recipients must meet criteria that includes scholastic record, financial need, and a portfolio which emphasizes an ability to draw from life as opposed to drawing from photographs, in addition to other drawings or two-dimensional work. This special scholarship award supports an international service-learning experience for students enrolled in the Physician Assistant Program who have an interest in gaining global perspectives on the delivery of healthcare.

Awarded to an undergraduate student enrolled in the School of Education at IUPUI who has a record of academic excellence, leadership, and demonstrated commitment to urban education, with a focus on diversity, equity and inclusion and at least a 3.0 GPA. Given to a graduate student pursuing a Doctor of Dental Surgery (“DDS”) degree in the School of Dentistry who is a second, third, or fourth year DDS student, has a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, and has financial need. This award supports graduate fellowships for students enrolled in the School of Health & Human Sciences who have an interest in the study of clinical nutrition. Preference shall be given to IUPUI internship graduates.

This scholarship is for a graduate student in the School of Dentistry who is a fourth year dental student. The recipient should demonstrate excellent patient care skills, including listening to and showing compassion for the patients they serve during their clinical education at the School, as determined by School’s clinical directors.

Given annually to students pursing their Pre-doctoral D.D.S. who have financial need, are Indiana residents, and are in good academic standing as determined by the Scholarship Committee. Preference will be given to students from smaller communities within Indiana and/or those who express interest in practicing dentistry in a smaller community. This scholarship is available for students majoring in TESM with a 3.0 or higher GPA with current or prior hospitality work experience or participants in campus or community service. Priority is given to students who work or have significant restaurant experience. Students should show potential for leadership as demonstrated by at least one letter of recommendation from a former or current teacher; former or current employer and, optionally, a personal reference.

Leo and Mary Durbin were leaders in the hospitality industry in Indiana. For 53 years, Leo, Mary, and their seven children operated the Durbin Hotel in Rushville, IN. Four of the couple’s sons followed their parents into successful careers in the hotel industry. This scholarship was created to support undergraduate scholarships to students in the Department of Tourism, Event, and Sport Management who plan a career in the hospitality industry.

IUPUI undergraduates pursuing their first undergraduate degree, who meet IUPUI regular admission requirements or are in good academic standing and have graduated from Crispus Attucks High School, will be considered for this scholarship. Lillian Charleston spent her career working for affirmative action progress. Prior to joining IUPUI, she led desegregation efforts at Crispus Attucks High School in the 1970s. In the 1980s, she held several administrative positions at IUPUI, including student activities officer, assistant to the dean for student services, coordinator of student research, and assistant director for the Center for Urban and Multicultural Education. In 1988, she became Affirmative Action Officer for the IUPUI campus. Charleston’s duties included overseeing efforts to improve conditions for women and minorities and investigating discrimination charges on campus. Charleston retired in 2008. Besides her efforts on behalf of IUPUI, Charleston has served as an officer and board member of several affirmative action groups, including American Association of Affirmative Action and the Indiana Industry Liaison Group. She has also served as a board member of numerous local organizations, including the Metropolitan Development Commission, the Indianapolis Urban League, the Indianapolis Chapter of Big Sisters of Greater Indianapolis, and the Association for Loan Free Education.

The Charter Class of the Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program established this award to support future students as well as to create an ongoing giving opportunity for the Class of 2015. This award will support first or second year graduate students in the MPAS program who are attending professional development workshops and conferences, PANCE review, or international travel.

A core motivation for creating the Prince Charitable Trusts Charles S. Peirce Scholarship is to commemorate the genealogical links between the Prince and the Peirce families. The Prince Charitable Trusts have supported the Peirce Edition Project since 1997. Charles S. Peirce’s grandniece, the late Helen Peirce Prince (1920-1998), initiated that support. The mother of Frederick Henry Prince, she was the granddaughter of Herbert Henry Davis Peirce (1849-1916), a distinguished U.S. diplomat, who was the younger brother of Charles Peirce. Both were sons of Benjamin Peirce (1809-1880), Harvard University’s leading mathematician throughout the 19th century. This scholarship is to support undergraduate juniors and/or seniors enrolled in the IU School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI who have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and demonstrate a commitment of service to further the work of the Peirce Edition Project and Charles S. IUPUI incoming full-time freshmen graduating from an IPS high school pursuing their first undergraduate degree, who meet regular admission requirements and have a minimum cumulative HS GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, are encouraged to apply. The Senior Academy at IUPUI has established a scholarship program designed to partially support tuition and books for beginning freshmen who show the potential for academic excellence at IUPUI. The scholarship will be awarded in the second semester of the awardee’s high-school senior year for enrollment at IUPUI in the following fall semester.

Current IUPUI juniors or seniors who expect to graduate with a baccalaureate degree by the end of next spring, who demonstrate high achievement and have a minimum cumulative IU GPA of 3.5, are encouraged to apply. The Senior Academy at IUPUI has established a scholarship for students who had dropped out of college-level status for at least 3 years and are now planning to enroll at IUPUI in order to complete their first undergraduate degree.

Awarded to a student (undergraduate, graduate or graduate non-degree certification) pursuing mathematics education with demonstrated financial need. Preference will be given to students from New Castle, IN or Henry County. Must have a 3.0 GPA.

As part of the IUPUI Sam H. Jones Community Service Scholarship Program, IUPUI Community Service Leaders (CSLs) is a scholarship opportunity for undergraduate students who are enrolled full time for the 2020-2021 academic year and who have previously served as a Sam H. Jones scholar. Community Service Leaders (CSLs) are responsible for the planning of campus wide community service and civic engagement events and the mentoring of other Sam H. Jones Community Service Scholars. The Fugate Scholarship began in the October of 2006 in honor of the late Daniel Fugate, a Near West community and public school advocate, as part of a larger Learning Communities Initiative at George Washington Community High School (GWCHS). This scholarship is open to full time graduate and undergraduate students. Fugate Scholars implement various college preparatory curricula to students in grades 5–12 at GWCHS and neighboring elementary schools. Students committing to service at GWCHS must be available at least one weekday (or a combination of days) from 7:30a.m–2:30 p.m. Students committing to service at one of the elementary schools must be available to serve at least one weekday (or a combination of days) between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Fugate Scholars must also: • Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.75 • Serve six hours per week for the scholarship, as defined in the program description • Complete mandatory orientation at the beginning of the fall semester • Be present for monthly trainings • Record and report weekly service hours using the Oncourse drop box link • Maintain communication with the Office of Neighborhood partnerships (ONP) through Oncourse email • Commitment to serve as a student leader on campus and in the Indianapolis community • Engagement in college preparatory activities at Near West and West Indianapolis schools

As part of the Sam H. Jones Community Service Scholarship Program, Paw’s Pantry Scholars assist the Office of Student Advocacy and Support to oversee the operations of the on-campus food pantry that provides food and toiletries to all IUPUI students, faculty, and staff. Undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled full time are eligible to apply. There are four positions available; Chair, Vice Chair of Donations, Vice Chair of Marketing, and Vice Chair of Volunteers. All Paw’s Pantry Scholars must: • Represent IUPUI in a positive manner while serving, planning, and facilitating all activities • Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.75 • Maintain ongoing and open communication with Program Director through emails, phone calls and or/meetings • Attend semester retreats • Attend weekly committee meetings • Complete an average of 10 to 13 hours of service (Chair position), or an average of 5 to 8 hours of service (Vice Chair positions) each week • Serve in the pantry 6 times per semester • Fulfill any other duties and obligations as given by the Program Director

Recipient must be an undergraduate student at the School of Engineering & Technology, IUPUI, and majoring in Computer Graphics Technology. Recipient must have a record of academic excellence as demonstrated by a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Special consideration will be given to underrepresented populations. Preference will be given for one of the following: a female student, and African American student, a first generation college student, or a student who has been in foster care.

The Spandana Kommalapati Memorial Scholarship is open to undergraduate or graduate students who are enrolled in the Department of BioHealth Informatics in the School of Informatics and Computing (SOIC) IUPUI in good standing. Students must demonstrate academic excellence, a minimum GPA of 3.2, and financial need.

This fellowship supports graduate students in the DPT program who have declared an interest in the area of geriatrics and/or acute care and have a record of academic excellence.

The School of Health & Human Sciences provides the Swinford Camp Brosius Scholarship for Camp Brosius tuition and fees to offset lost wages or hardship due to time away from work and family to take required courses at camp.

Given annually to undergraduate or graduate fellowships in the School of Dentistry, with a preference for underrepresented minority students with the greatest financial need with respect to family income level who are enrolled in the School of Dentistry, with first preference for African-American students, and with an additional preference for students who have matriculated from the Indianapolis Public School System.

Awarded to a graduate student in the Aspiring Teacher Alternative Certification Program who has an interest in urban education.

The Distributed Drug Discovery Scholarship for Excellence in Organic Chemistry was established by a grateful alumnus of the Chemistry and Chemical Biology Department. This scholarship supports undergraduate students who have shown outstanding academic performance in organic chemistry within the classroom and laboratory, mental attitude, and work ethic. Recipients must be a sophomore, junior, or senior at IUPUI with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Recipients must have successfully completed and passed four advanced or non-entry level courses in chemistry within the School of Science such as CHEM-C341, CHEM-C342, CHEM-C343, and CHEM-C344 or their equivalents. Instructors of Organic Chemistry will be asked for a statement of support or brief letter of recommendation for all nominated students or students who apply. The scholarship is not renewable.

The W. Michael and Susan L. Wells Women in Science Scholarship was established by School of Science Dean’s Advisory Council member, Michael Wells (IUB ‘72), and his wife, Susan (IUB ‘73), to support women in science. This scholarship supports academically strong students directly admitted to and/or currently enrolled in the School of Science. Recipients must be in good academic standing, be Indiana residents, and have demonstrated financial need. Preference for underrepresented students. Recipient must be a student enrolled in the IUPUI Purdue School of Science.

Given annually to a student enrolled in the School’s 2nd, 3rd or 4th year DDS program, with a record of academic excellence as demonstrated by a minimum GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale, is in good ethical standing, as determined by the Scholarship selection committee, and who is a resident of Hawaii. In the event of a tie the student with the highest cumulative score in the Dental Material Course shall receive the Scholarship.

The Department of Kinesiology awards the William A. Stecher Honor Scholarship to senior physical education teacher education majors who are eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony.

This scholarship supports students enrolled in the TESM major within the School of Health & Human Sciences at IUPUI.

It is the intent of the Donors, and the Foundation agrees, that this gift be used to support undergraduate scholarships for students enrolled Dental Hygiene Program at the School. Preference should be given to students living in Randolph County Indiana or Darke County Ohio. Recipients should have a minimum 3.42 GPA, financial need is not a requirement. Consideration may be given to an applicant from a rural community (city or town with a population less than 14,000) if no one is from Randolph or Darke counties. The number, amount, and recipient(s) of the Scholarship will be determined by the Scholarship Committee of the School.

Established by the family and friends of Dr. Yuri Abramovich, this scholarship commemorates Dr. Abramovich’s legacy as a colleague, mathematician and educator. This scholarship supports School of Science students who have a keen interest in the study of mathematics, who demonstrate academic excellence, especially in mathematics courses beyond the sophomore level, and who show promise for a career in mathematics. Recipient must be a student enrolled in the IUPUI Purdue School of Science.

Annual award for Elkhart County, Indiana resident (at least one year) that is pursuing postsecondary education at Indiana University South Bend (ISUB) in good standing. Both traditional and non-traditional students are eligible. Number of awards and award amount varies.

Frank & Marsha Martin Scholars are academically distinguished students with leadership potential who intent to major in business and intent to enroll in the IU South Bend Honors Program. Qualifications include: Minimum 3.5 cumulative high school GPA (6th or 7th semester) Rank in the top 10% of their graduating class Enroll in the Leighton School of Business & Economics and the IU South Bend Honors Program Preference will be given to economically disadvantaged students with leadership potential Scholarship award amounts are renewable for up to 4 years of full-time, continuous attendance at IU South Bend based on minimum GPA and enrollment completion criteria. Herbert Presidential Scholars are high achieving students that display strong leadership skills through school and community activities. Consideration is also given to candidates who have maintained strong academics while overcoming personal challenges or other obstacles. The Jacobs Family Scholarship is open to incoming direct admit freshmen at Indiana University, Kelley School of Business. You must rank in the top 20 percent of your graduating class to be eligible for this renewable award.

The Journalism Alumni Scholarship is open to undergraduate journalism students at Indiana University.

The Leonard Bernstein Scholarship is open to students at Indiana University, Jacobs School of Music.

The Linda L. Thiel Memorial Scholarship in Information Systems and Decision Science is available to female students at the Indiana University Kelley School of Business. You must be a senior enrolled in an operations and decision technologies program to be eligible for this award.

Scholarship for graduating high school seniors from the North Lawrence Community School District who are planning to attend Indiana University. Primary consideration given to students enrolled at Indiana University pursuing studies in Nursing, second consideration to students pursuing studies in the Medical field, Medical Doctor, Medical Technician, X-ray Technician, etc., third consideration given to students pursuing studies in any area. The Philip L. Bird Scholarship is available to junior and senior students at the Indiana University Kelley School of Business. You must be an Indiana resident and an accounting major enrolled for at least nine credit hours for the semester. Annual award for black/African American sophomore, junior or senior students currently pursuing postsecondary education at Indiana University South Bend to study the field of Education.
