Scholarships at Louisiana Tech University

College-bound students who have been diagnosed with ADHD face many challenges. In addition to overcoming a learning disability that makes concentration, problem-solving and impulse control difficult, they face the common obstacle of paying for their post-secondary education. Students with ADHD, or other learning disabilities, can find many scholarship and grant programs dedicated to helping them achieve their goals of a college education.

Selection Criteria: Recipient must be majoring in a program offered by the School of Agricultural Sciences. Recipient must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Recipient must have a minimum ACT score of 21.

Albert J. Dunn donated the “Albert J., Jerri H., and David S. Dunn Endowed Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University. Student must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. Student must be majoring in Civil Engineering. Students must have a minimum 2.0 GPA. Preference will be given to students majoring in civil engineering and students from Leesville, Louisiana and Vernon Parish.

The purpose of this agreement is to establish, in the College of Business and Administration at Louisiana Tech University, the R. Wayne Mondy Scholarship program, funded by Dr. Mondy with contributions to the SBA Foundation. Selection Criteria: Recipient must be a student within the College of Business.

Don Kennedy served as Executor for his cousin Corrie E. Armstrong and was involved in establishing the “Amos Lee and Corrie E. Armstrong Scholarship Endowment” for Louisiana Tech University. Corrie held an interest in supporting a graduate of Farmerville High School with preference with students studying in education or medicine. If a year does not have enough candidates studying in education or medicine, the scholarship can be awarded to students pursuing degrees in other academic years. First preference to students from Union Parish High School in the upper 20% of their graduating class intending to major in Education or Medicine Applicants should be nominated by three Union Parish High School faculty member.

The College of Business of Louisiana Tech University donates the “Amy L. Myers Memorial Scholarship in CIS”. Selection Criteria: The scholarship will be awarded to a student with junior or senior standing majaroing in CIS in the College of Business. The scholarship recipient(s) must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University.

Billy Ray Prothro donated the “Anna Prothro Art Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: The scholarship recipient must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. The scholarship will be awarded to a student in the School of Design majoring in graphic design, interior design, studio, OR architecture. The scholarship recipient must maintain at least a minimum 3.5 GPA in all official college courses.

Billy Ray Prothro donated the “Anna Prothro Creative Writing Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University for students majoring in English. Selection Criteria: The scholarship recipient(s) must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. The scholarship shall be awarded to a student majoring in an English curriculum who has demonstrated a proficiency in creative writing. The scholarship recipient must maintain at least a minimum 3.5 GPA in all official college courses.

Mrs. Annie Lowe Stiles and The Community Foundation donated the “Annie Lowe Stiles Scholarship for the College of Engineering and Science” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: The scholarship recipient(s) must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. The student must be majoring within the College of Engineering and Science. The student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.

Katherine A. Scharer and David H. Scharer established the Arbuthnot-Scharer Endowed Scholarship for the students at Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: Recipient must be an Incoming Freshman. Recipient must have a minimum 3.0 High School GPA. Recipient must not have an ACT composite score of more than 22. First Preference is given to students from Catahoula Parish. Second Preference is given to students enrolled in the COB.

Arkla Energy Resources provided the fund to start the “Arkla Energy Resources Endowment” for Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: Recipient must be an Incoming Freshman. Recipient must have a minimum 3.0 High School GPA. Recipient must not have an ACT composite score of more than 22. Recipient must be majoring in Business or Engineering. Recipient must reside in areas serviced by Center-point Energy. Recipient must have financial need.

Gina Wilson donated the “Arthur J. Wilson III, National Defense Scholarship in Engineering” to Louisiana Tech University to assist students in paying for tuition, laboratory fees, books, dorm fees, cafeteria fees, and any equipment necessary for engineering studies. Selection Criteria: The scholarship recipient must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for each quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. The scholarship recipient must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA in all official college courses. First preference in awarding the scholarship will be to a mechanical engineering student who has served or is serving in any military branch. Second preference will be a student majoring in mechanical engineering who is a member of the ROTC. Third preference will be a student majoring in mechanical engineering who has worked or is working for a defense contractor.

Hudson Akin donated the “Ben T. Bogard Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University. Students must be registered in the College of Engineering. Selection Criteria: Student must be registered as a full-time student in the quarter in which he or she is receiving the scholarship. Student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Student must be an Engineering major.

The Barnes Scholarship is awarded to students attending the Summer Quarter at Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: Recipient must be a student within the College of Business.

Beard + Riser Architects donated the “Beard + Riser Architects, PLLC, Architecture Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: The scholarship will be awarded to a student pursuing a degree in Architecture. The scholarship will be awarded to one or more students participating in an established travel program benefiting the architectural education of the students. The travel may be national or international travel. The scholarship will be awarded to an architecture student(s) who excels in the architecture curriculum, who is in good academic standing with the University, and who exhibits financial need.

The Department of Chemistry at Louisiana Tech University and the Louisiana Tech University Foundation, Inc. established the “Ben F. Freasier Chemistry Scholarship Endowment” at Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: The scholarship recipient must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. Student must be enrolled in the Chemistry curriculum. Student must be junior or senior level in the curriculum. Student must maintain an overall 3.0 GPA on all official college course work.

The Gilman Scholarship Program is a program of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and is assisted in its implementation by the Institute of International Education (IIE). The Gilman Program provides grants for undergraduate U.S. citizens of limited financial means to study and intern abroad, thereby gaining skills critical to our national security and economic prosperity.

Bessie Talbert Price Purdy donated money to Louisiana Tech University Foundation to be utilized as an endowment for scholarships in the School of Agricultural Sciences.

Selection Criteria: Must be a junior, senior, or graduate student enrolled as a full-time student as a Human Ecology major at Louisiana Tech University. Must have demonstrated ability to perform above average in university courses by maintaining a 3.0 or better average on university course work. Must have demonstrated leadership ability by participating in human ecology organizations and other university activities.

Selection Criteria: Recipient must be a student within the College of Business. Recipient must have a minimum 2.8 GPA. Master’s candidates are eligible to receive this scholarship.

James A. and Patricia C. Roberts donated the “Birdie D. Carroll and Jewel J. Roberts Endowed Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: Student must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. Student must be an outstanding female student in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. Student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.

The scholarship will be awarded to a student in the School of Design majoring in interior design. The scholarship recipient must maintain at least a minimum 2.5 GPA in all official college courses.

Joshua J. Gidlow and Justin M. Bounds donated the “Bounds and Gidlow Endowed Scholarship in Mechanical Engineering” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: Student must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. Student must be majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Student must be a junior or senior in his/her chosen engineering curriculum. Student must maintain a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA in all official college courses. Student must remain registered in a minimum of three (3) engineering hours every quarter that he/she receives the scholarship.

Brenda Kelly and W. Rufus Estis donated the “Brenda Kelly and W. Rufus Estis Endowed Scholarship” for and in consideration of the educational work being carried on by Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: Recipient must be a student within the College of Business. Recipient must have a minimum GPA of 2.5. First preference goes to freshman from Concordia Parish.

Kathleen H. Bryan Scholarship donated by Richard Bryan to Louisiana Tech University for students majoring in the School of Performing Arts. Selection Criteria: The scholarship is designated to the School of Performing Arts and will be awarded by the Director of the School of Performing Arts and or his designee(s). The scholarship recipient(s) must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. The scholarship recipient(s) must be registered and remain as a full time student for the quarter they receive the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. Scholarship(s) will be awarded annually, with disbursement quarterly The scholarship shall be intended to assist the recipient(s) in paying any college cost that would otherwise be paid to Louisiana Tech University by the student. The donor request the the scholarship be awarded where it is needed most and can provide the greatest benefit.

Buford Echols Gatewood donated the “Buford Echols Gatewood Endowed Scholarship in Mechanical Engineering” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: Student must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. Student must be enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering Curriculum. Student must maintain an overall 2.5 GPA as an average on all official college course work.

Les Guice, Ph.D., former Dean of the College of Engineering and Science, and Louisiana Tech University, donated the “Building Engineers and Scientists for Tomorrow (BEST) Endowed Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: Student must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. Student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Student must have a major within the College of Engineering and Science.

Since its creation in 1977, the IHS Scholarship Program has supported thousands of American Indian and Alaska Native students in their quest for a health professions degree leading to a career in Indian health. Today, this support continues as IHS seeks the next generation of leaders committed to improving the health of Indian communities.

Nelda H. Neal and the family, friends, and colleagues of C. Lawrence Neal, M.D. donated the “C. Lawrence Neal, M.D. Pre-Medicine Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: The scholarship recipient(s) must be a Biology major. The scholarship recipient(s) must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. The scholarship shall be awarded to a student whose intent is to attend medical school. The scholarship recipient must have a minimum 3.75 GPA in all official college courses to be awarded the scholarship. The scholarship shall be awarded to a junior or senior student. The scholarship applicant shall write a letter to the scholarship awards committee detailing his/her needs for the scholarship and why he/she is pursuing a career in medicine. First preference in awarding the scholarship shall be given to students from Lincoln Parish who graduated from a high school in Lincoln Parish and who meet all other criteria.

Mr. Whittelsey, past Chairman of Ford, Bacon, & Davis, was honored with the “C.C. Whittelsey (Ford, Bacon, & Davis) Memorial Scholarship” by his friends and business associates. Selection Criteria: Student must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. Student must be within the College of Engineering and Science. Student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. First preference goes to students who have parents or grandparents that are employed by Ford, Bacon, and Davis.

Carol E. Holley established the “Carolyn M. Holley Endowed Scholarship” for consideration in educational work for Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: Recipient must be an Incoming Freshman. Recipient must have a minimum 3.0 High School GPA. Recipient must not have an ACT composite score of more than 22. First preference to a student from Lakeside High School in Sibley, La. Second preference to a student from Webster Parish.

Century Telephone Enterprises, Inc. donated the “Century Telephone Enterprises, Inc./Clarke M. Williams, Jr. Memorial Endowed Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: The scholarship recipient(s) must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. The scholarship recipients shall be enrolled in the College of Business. Student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Dorris Terrill Hewitt, Nan Terrill Wibker, and Jack A. Terrill donated the “Charles Allen and Irene Thompson Terrill Endowed Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: Recipient must be an Incoming Freshman. Recipient must have a minimum 3.0 High School GPA. Recipient must not have an ACT composite score of more than 22. Recipient shall be a graduate of Ruston High School in Ruston, Louisiana.

Charles E. and Nelwyn Spruell donated the “Charles and Nelwyn Spruell Endowed Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: Student must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. Student must be enrolled in a Petroleum Engineering curriculum. Student must maintain an overall 2.5 GPA as an average on all official college course work.

Charles G. Tullis donated the “Charles G. Tullis Endowed Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: The recipient must be a full-time student of Louisiana Tech University during each quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship. Charles H. Lyles donated the “Clairece Harp Lyles Endowed Scholarship in English” to Louisiana Tech University. Andrew Clark has set up a scholarship to help support Sigma Kappa Sorority in their education. Selection Criteria: The scholarship recipient must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech. The scholarship will be awarded annually, with disbursement quarterly. The scholarship shall be awarded to a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. The recipient must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA in all official college courses.

Selection Criteria: The scholarship recipient(s) must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. The student must be majoring in Physics. The student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.

Mrs. Clothielde Tuten Clark donated the “Clothielde Tuten Clark Endowed Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech to support students in the College of Human Ecology. Selection Criteria: The scholarship recipient(s) must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. The scholarship recipient(s) shall be majoring in a curriculum in the School of Human Ecology. The scholarship is to be awarded on an annual basis to a Freshman student. The student receiving the scholarship must maintain a 3.0 GPA.

Cole, Evans, & Peterson donated the “Cole, Evans, & Peterson Academic Excellence Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: The scholarship recipient must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. Student must be majoring in Accounting. Student must have and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 in all official college courses. Student must be junior or senior standing.

This scholarship may be awarded to students who attend the College of Business Showcase Event. Recipients will be chosen by random drawing during the Showcase Event by the Dean or designee. Selection Criteria: Student must attend a College of Business Showcase Event. Student must have already applied for admissions into the University and selected a major within the College of Business. Student must remain within the College of Business or the scholarship will no longer apply. The scholarship will be distributed across Fall, Winter, and Spring Quarters of the recipient’s Freshman year.

Selection Criteria: Open to ALL students in the College of Liberal Arts Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.25 Minimum ACT score of 25 Awarded to Incoming Freshman Must be enrolled or plan to enroll as a full-time student (8+ hours)

Lamar Colvin and Dorothy Sallier Colvin donated the “Colvin Memorial Endowed Scholarship” for and in consideration of the educational work being carried on by Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: The student may receive the scholarship only for their first quarter at Louisiana Tech University. A new recipient will be chosen each year. The scholarship recipient must have a high school GPA of 3.2 and a minimum ACT score of 24. The scholarship recipient must be an incoming freshman. First preference goes to students from Dubach, La. Second preference goes to any student from Lincoln Parish graduating from a public school.

Selection Criteria: The scholarship recipient(s) must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. The student must be majoring in Computer Science. The student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.

Scholarship For Service (SFS) is a unique program designed to increase and strengthen the cadre of federal information assurance professionals that protect the government’s critical information infrastructure. This program provides scholarships that may fully fund the typical costs incurred by full-time students while attending a participating institution, including tuition and education and related fees. The scholarships are funded through grants awarded by the National Science Foundation. (NSF) Selection Criteria: Student must be a junior or senior in CSC or CYEN. Student must be a U.S. Citizen. Student must have a 3.20 cumulative GPA.

Cynthia Ann Clark was a student in the College of Business and Administration at Louisiana Tech. Both she and her husband had to work long hours to pay for school and living costs while pursuing their degrees. The purpose of the “Cynthia Ann Clark Thompson Scholarship” is to help students who are also working their way through college. A student must be pursuing one of the degrees offered by the School of Professional Accountancy. Normally a student must have and maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher. Student is eligible if they: a) do not live with parents and therefore have higher living costs. b) have greater financial need than others being considered c) have classifications in the following preferred order: seniors, juniors, graduate student, sophomore, freshman d) have qualities appropriate to the accounting profession.

Garry E. Luffey, M.D. and Jan Luffey donated the “Cynthia Ann Luffey Endowed Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: Recipient must be an Incoming Freshman. Recipient must have a minimum 3.0 High School GPA. Recipient must not have an ACT composite score of more than 22. First preference to a graduate of St. Frederick High School in Monroe, LA. Second preference to a graduate of any high school in Ouachita Parish, LA.

Century Telephone Enterprises donated the “Century Telephone Enterprises Endowed Scholarship in Memory of David E. Hogan” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: Student must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. Student must be enrolled in an engineering curriculum. Student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

The Alumni/Department of Agricultural Sciences donated the “David Lee Hays Agricultural Science Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: The scholarship recipient(s) must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. Scholarship(s) shall be awarded to a student majoring in animal science. The scholarship recipient must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA in all official college courses.

Selection Criteria: Recipient must have a minimum 3.0 High School GPA. Recipient must not have an ACT composite score of more than 22. Recipient must have financial need in order to receive the scholarship. In even years (ex.2018-2019), the scholarship is awarded to a freshman in the College of Engineering. In odd years (ex. 2019-2020), the scholarship is awarded to a freshman in the College of Education.

Selection Criteria: The scholarship recipient(s) must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. Recipient must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Recipient must be majoring in Professional Aviation or Aviation Management. Recipient must be a sophomore, junior, or senior at the time of receiving the scholarship.

The Desk and Derrick Educational Trust will accept scholarship applications for the 2020-2021 academic years from students seeking degrees in fields related to: geology, geophysics, petroleum engineering, chemical engineering, and mechanical engineering. Approximately 10 to 15 scholarships are awarded annually with amounts ranging from $1,000 to $4,000. Minimum qualifying GPA is 3.25.

Don and Ann Mez donated the “Don and Ann Metz Endowed Scholarship for Engineering” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: The scholarship recipient must be registered and remain registered as a full time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. Student must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA in all official college courses.

Guy Wactor donated the “Donald Ruffin Endowed Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: Recipient must be a graduate of Oak Grove High School and must be majoring in a curriculum in the College of Engineering and Science. Recipient must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. Recipient must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA in all official college courses.

Frank A. Therrell, Jr., donated the " Dorothy L. and Frank A. Therrell, Jr. Endowment Scholarship Fund" to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: Recipient must be an Incoming Freshman. Recipient must have a minimum 3.0 High School GPA. Recipient must not have an ACT composite score of more than 22.

Dorothy Melton English Endowment Selection Criteria: Student must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2. Student must be a full-time student attending Louisiana Tech University. Student must be majoring in English.

Mr. and Mrs. P.K. Smith, Jr. donated the “Dr. and Mrs. P.K. Smith, Sr. Endowed Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: The scholarship recipient(s) must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. The student must be within the College of Engineering and Science. The student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Preference goes to a graduate of a Lincoln Parish HS.

William E. Koss donated the “Dr. Ed Koss, Col. USAF (RET.) Endowed Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University to help further the education for students majoring in Professional Aviation. Student must believe in the capitalistic free enterprise system and understand and appreciate the privileges and responsibilities of being an American citizen. Student must have a high school GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 system. Student must be an outstanding high school senior as demonstrated by participating in leadership roles in school and community activities. Mr. Jack T. and Mrs. Debra M. Taylor established “The George Curtis and Esther Belle Moseley Taylor Endowment for Business Scholarships” to Louisiana Tech University. Recipient must be a student within the College of Business. Normally, a student must have and maintain a 2.5 or higher GPA to receive this scholarship. Students will be given preference in the selection process if they: a) do not live with parents and, therefore, have higher living costs b) have greater financial need than others being considered c) have classifications in the following preferred order: seniors, juniors, graduate student, sophomores, freshman.

Beth Shriner donated the “Gladys Foster and Samuel Wadelle Williamson Endowed Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: Recipient must be an Incoming Freshman. Recipient must have a minimum 3.0 High School GPA. Recipient must not have an ACT composite score of more than 22. Recipient will be awarded to a resident of Franklin Parish.

Dale G. Dimos established the scholarship, “Glen Guilkey Endowed Scholarship”, to honor his father, Glen Guilkey. Selection Criteria: The scholarship will be awarded to a student in the College of Business majoring in Marketing. Stanley M. Gorman donated the “Grant Adair Gorman Memorial Endowed Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University. Jorenda S. Stone and Christopher P. Stone donated the “Gregory Phillips Stone Memorial Endowed Award of Excellence” scholarship to Louisiana Tech University. The award recipient(s) shall be enrolled in a Performing Arts curriculum. The recipient of this award shall maintain an overall 2.0 GPA on all official college course work. The award shall be presented to a student considered to have exceptional talent in Performing Arts. The scholarship is for outstanding students majoring in physics at Louisiana Tech University. The student must be majoring in Physics. The student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.

Halff Associates, Inc. donated the “Halff Associates Endowed Civil Engineering Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: The scholarship recipient(s) must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. The scholarship will be awarded to a junior or senior level civil engineering student. The scholarship will be awarded to a student who has a minimum GPA of 2.5. The scholarship recipient must have graduated from a high school in Louisiana, Texas, or Arkansas. The scholarship recipient must be a U.S. Citizen.

Selection Criteria: The scholarship recipient must be a citizen of the United States of America and must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. The scholarship will be awarded to a student of Hispanic heritage who is pursuing an undergraduate degree in Engineering. The recipient may receive the scholarship as a freshman and retain it through four consecutive years providing he/she maintains a 2.75 GPA on all course work. If a student is awarded the scholarship as a sophomore, he/she can regain the scholarship for three years, a junior for two years, and a senior for one year.

Frances L. Winters donated the “John D. Winters Endowed Award in Theatre” to students in the Theatre major at Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: The scholarship recipient(s) must be a Theatre major and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. The recipient of this award must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA in their Theatre major and an overall GPA of 2.5 in all official college courses. The Award shall be granted annually during the month of May and shall be presented to a Theatre major who has demonstrated exceptional talent in their area of specialty The Award is not intended to assist the recipient(s) in paying any college education costs which would otherwise be paid to Louisiana Tech University by the student

The “John E. O’Shea, Sr. Endowed Scholarship” was created in honor of John E. O’Shea, Sr. and shall be held by Donee as part of its permanent endowment. Recipient must be an Incoming Freshman. Recipient must have a minimum 3.0 High School GPA. Recipient must not have an ACT composite score of more than 22. Recipient must be from a town in Louisiana with a population of less than 30,000 people.

Emmie Louise Green donated the “John S. and Emmie Louise V. Green Endowed Dairy Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: The scholarship recipient(s) must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. Fluid Disposal Specialties, INC. donated the “Landon Hays Memorial Scholarship in Animal Science” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: Scholarship(s) shall be awarded to a student majoring in animal science with a concentration in Live Stock. The scholarship recipient must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA in all official college courses.

Andrew Lane Plauche donated the “The Lane Family Endowed Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: Recipient must be an Incoming Freshman. Recipient must have a minimum 3.0 High School GPA. Recipient must not have an ACT composite score of more than 22. Recipient’s financial need will be taken into consideration. Preference will be in this order: a) African American who resides in East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana or b) African American who resides in West Feliciana Parish, Louisiana or c) African American who resides in Louisiana.

Reba K. Neel donated the “Lenora McDonald Neel and Oliver Fulton Neel School of Art Endowed Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University students in the program of the School of Art. Selection Criteria: #Recipient must be an initiated member of Sigma Kappa Sorority OR studying Human Ecology. First preference will be woman who has attained and shall maintain at least a 3.0 academic GPA and shall exemplify the highest ideals of Sigma Kappa Sorority. Second preference for the award shall be a woman majoring in Human Ecology who has a 2.5 grade point average or above, who exhibits high moral principles and who will be entering the teaching profession.

The scholarship recipient must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA in all official college courses. First preference is to a graduate student and shall act as a graduate assistantship or fellowship award. Second preference is to a junior or senior theatre major. The scholarship shall be intended to assist the recipient(s) in paying any college education cost that would otherwise be paid to Louisiana Tech University.

Preference will be in this order: Resident of Lincoln Parish Parish located near Lincoln Parish Resident of North Louisiana.

Mary Lucille Pixley Sanders recognized the need for and the value of education. The endowment was established in 1997 by Judy Sanders Halterman and husband Robert W. Gilbert in memory of her mother, Mary Lucille Pixley Sanders. Selection Criteria: Recipient must be an Incoming Freshman. Recipient must have a minimum 3.0 High School GPA. Recipient must not have an ACT composite score of more than 22. The scholarship recipient(s) must be a female graduate of a public high school in Webster or Claiborne Parish.

Summer Merritt Reserve Scholarship: Frank P. Merritt donated the “Mary Marguerite Merritt Nursing Scholarship Fund” to support students majoring in nursing at Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: Student must have a GPA of 2.8 or greater. Student must show commitment to nursing and to Louisiana Tech demonstrated by being enrolled full-time and by activities related to nursing field. Student must be enrolled in NURS 112 or 116 Student must have some financial need.

Myrtis Chandle Orr and Virgil Orr agreed to establish the “Mary Wilks Chandler Endowment” fund to provide awards, scholarships, and fellowships for students in the College of Home Economics. Myrtis is an alumna of the College of Home Economics and Mrs. Chandler was well known for her wonderful cooking and beautiful sewing. Selection Criteria: Student must be a Human Ecology major. Student must maintain a 3.0 Cumulative GPA in all required coursework.

Merle Burk Estate donated the “Merle Burk Endowed Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: The recipient must be a full-time student majoring in the School of Human Ecology at Louisiana Tech University. Part-time student majors may be considered for a scholarship if a financial need exists. The scholarship may be awarded to a Senior student. Prime consideration shall be given to an applicant with outstanding academic promise. Scholarship recipients must maintain a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 system and be enrolled in at least one human ecology course each quarter.

Satterfield & Pontikes Construction, Inc. donated the “Mike Thompson Memorial Endowed Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: Student must be registered and remain registered a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. Student must be in the College of Engineering and Science majoring in Construction Engineering Technology. Student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.

Monroe Chapter American Petroleum Institute donated the “Monroe Chapter American Petroleum Institute Endowed Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: Student must be in the College of Engineering and Science Student must majoring in engineering curriculum that provides students with the knowledge and background necessary to pursue careers in the oil and natural gas industry (Chemical, Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering).

Michael L. Walpole donated the “Mr. & Mrs. Leamon Best and Mr. & Mrs. J. N. Walpole Endowment in Architecture” scholarship for students majoring in architecture at Louisiana Tech University. The Patrick F. Taylor Foundation donated the “Patrick F. Taylor Foundation Endowed Scholarship” for and in the consideration of educational work being carried on by the Louisiana Tech University. First preference shall be given to a student who is receiving Pell Grant assistance. Second preference shall be given to a student who may not qualify for Pell Grant but may exhibit great financial need.

Phil Israel donated the “Phil Israel Engineering Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: The scholarship recipient(s) must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. A four-year scholarship will be awarded to an incoming freshman student who is a graduate of Captain Shreve High School in Shreveport, Louisiana, who will be majoring in a curriculum within the College of Engineering and Science. The scholarship recipient must have participated in the Engineering Magnet Program and must have a high school cumulative GPA of 3.0. The scholarship will be awarded based upon teacher recommendations taking into account student academic achievement and participation in athletics and/or other extracurricular activities. Student must be within the College of Engineering and Science. Student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. This scholarship is for children of employees of Pratt Paper-Louisiana or Pratt Industries.

Dona Funderburk endowed the “Rebel Lunch Bunch Scholarship”. Recipient must be an Incoming Freshman. Recipient must have a minimum 3.0 High School GPA. Recipient must not have an ACT composite score of more than 22. Scholarship(s) shall be awarded to a freshman student who is a graduate of West Monroe High School and who has been admitted to Louisiana Tech University. Recipients are selected based off recommendations by the Rebel Lunch Bunch Organization.

Mrs. Patricia Gage donated the “Rev. and Mrs. W. R. Gage Endowed Scholarship in Human Ecology” to Louisiana Tech University to help support students majoring in Human Ecology. Selection Criteria: The scholarship recipient(s) must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. The scholarship recipient shall be enrolled in a Human Ecology curriculum. The scholarship recipient must have completed the junior year’s curriculum in the Human Ecology curriculum. Student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA in all official college courses in order to receive the scholarship; however, discretion may be used in extenuating circumstances should the GPA drop below a 3.0 during the senior year.

The “Rhonda Chambless Endowment” will be awarded to a student in the School of Human Ecology. Selection Criteria: Student must be a Junior Nutrition and Dietetics major. Student must show Financial Need. A minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required.

Student must be majoring in an engineering curriculum. Student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.

The Bone and Joint Clinic of Shreveport donated the “Bone and Joint Clinic Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Scholarship” for students in the School of Biological Sciences majoring in Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental at Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: Student must be Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental major. Student must have financial need. Student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Richard C. Harrelson donated “The James R. Harrelson Memorial Endowed Engineering Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: Student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Student must have been accepted into the College of Engineering and Sciences. Student must be registered and remain as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. 1st preference: student must be a graduate of Woodlawn High School in Shreveport, Louisiana. 2nd preference: student must be a graduate of Fair Park High School in Shreveport, Louisiana. 3rd preference: any student that graduated from a high school in Caddo Parish.

Oberah M. Fisher donated “The Lanette Southall Fisher Endowed Scholarship” for students majoring in Elementary Education at Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: The scholarship recipient will be chosen from Elementary Education majors within the College of Education, and chosen by the Scholarship Committee of the College of Education. The student must be a Citizen of the U.S.A. The recipient must remain enrolled in the College of Education in Elementary Education to qualify for continued funding.

Selection Criteria: Student must be enrolled in the College of Engineering and Science majoring in Construction Engineering. Student must be a citizen of the U.S.A. The James and Myrtle Brooks Living Trust donated “The Robert H. and Harriet Bell Brooks, and Mary Ann and Elizabeth Brooks Educational Endowment Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: Student must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he or she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. Student must be enrolled as a Graduate student in an Engineering curriculum. Student must maintain an overall 3.5 GPA on all official college graduate course work.

This shall be awarded to a student major in the Division of Performing Arts, School of Theatre. To maintain eligibility the student must remain an active theatre major/minor, must participate in School of Theatre activities, and must remain academically in good standing. The scholarship recipient must also review and sign a scholarship contract with the Director of Theatre.

Thomas J. Wilson and Elizabeth B. Wilson donated the “Thomas J. Wilson and Elizabeth B. Wilson Endowed Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: The recipient must be enrolled in the College of Engineering and Science. The student must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA. The student must be an American Born Citizen.

The “Todd McAfee Memorial Endowment Scholarship” will be awarded to a student in the Agriculture Department. Selection Criteria: Recipient must be majoring in Agricultural Business with a Business Concentration. Recipient must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Thomas Hazelwood donated the “Tom and Amy Hazelwood Industrial Engineering Scholarship” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: Student must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. Student must be a junior or senior majoring in Industrial Engineering. Student should have a minimum 2.5 GPA.

The West Monroe Civitan Club donated the “Tommy Ray Nichols West Monroe Civitan Club Endowed Scholarship” for and in consideration of the educational work being carried on by Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: Recipient must be an Incoming Freshman. Recipient must have a minimum 2.5 High School GPA. Recipient must not have an ACT composite score of more than 22. First preference is given to applicants graduating from high schools in Ouachita Parish and/or former Junior Civitan Club members. Second preference is given to applicants pursuing a curriculum aligned with care for the handicapped.

The Veterans United Foundation Scholarship creates opportunities for family members of service members and Veterans to achieve their educational dreams. Launched in 2012, the scholarship program is funded by contributions from Veterans United Home Loans and its employees.

Selection Criteria: Recipient must be a resident of the Methodist Children’s Home. Recipient must be a third generation American born citizen. First preference will go to a student majoring within the College of Engineering.

Selection Criteria: Student must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University. R. Terral Whetstone and American Electric Power donated the “Whetstone Scholarship in Engineering” to Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: Student must be majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Students must have accumulated at least 30 hours of credit. Students must have a minimum and maintain a 2.5 GPA.

The purpose of this scholarship is to acquire funds to assist in creating an endowment to fund scholarships in honor of Wiley W. Hilburn, Jr., who headed the Journalism department at Louisiana Tech University. Selection Criteria: The recipients(s) of the scholarship(s) will be majoring in Communication with a concentration in Communication Studies or Journalism. Recipient must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and be enrolled full-time for the quarter in which he/she receives the scholarship.

Selection Criteria: The recipient must have met the requirements for admission to the graduate program.
