Scholarships at Allegany College of Maryland

Merit scholarships in the amount of $1,000 or more will be awarded each academic year to students who meet the following requirements: must be a U.S. citizen/permanent resident, be a current resident of Allegany County, Maryland, must have resided in Allegany County for the past three or more years, and have at least a 3.0 GPA. Special consideration will be given to students who express their intention to transfer to Frostburg State University upon graduation from Allegany College of Maryland.

The Coldwell Banker SKS Realty Scholarship sponsored by Melinda Feaster and Cheryl McInroy is a $500 scholarship that will be awarded to a Bedford County resident who is a full- or part-time student with at least a 2.5 GPA or higher. The student must be enrolled in Business Management or Business Administration and attend the Bedford County Campus of Allegany College of Maryland.

This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who has met the following minimum qualifications: Full- or part-time student, no residency requirement, have at least a 3.0 GPA. $500 scholarship awarded to a student who is a current employee of Gateway Travel Plaza for at least one year or has an immediate family member who is a current employee of Gateway Travel Plaza. Student must be enrolled in a class/curriculum directly relating to the travel/hospitality industry (Hotel/Restaurant Management or Culinary Arts). $250 scholarship awarded to a student who is a current employee of Gateway Travel Plaza for at least one year or has an immediate family member who is a current employee of Gateway Travel Plaza. Student enrolled in any Associate Degree program. Applicant must have completed at least one semester with at least a 3.0 GPA. Money to be used for tuition only — no cash disbursements. Continuation of scholarship into the second year is possible upon reapplication and proof of having met the criteria.

This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who has met the following minimum qualifications: Full-time student (Students are considered “full-time” for ACM Foundation scholarships if they are enrolled in the clinical phase of a two-year, associate degree Allied Health program for eight or more credit hours.), must be a U.S. citizen/permanent resident, resident of Allegany County, have at least a 3.0 GPA, be enrolled in the Human Service or Elementary Education curriculum. The essay should address the applicant’s community involvement (volunteerism, committee memberships, etc.) as well as state financial need. Continuation of scholarship into second year is possible upon reapplication and proof of having met criteria.

One scholarship will be awarded to a deserving female student pursuing an AA degree in any Allied Health field and one scholarship will be awarded to a deserving female student pursuing an AA degree in the Nursing program who have also met the following minimum qualifications: Full- or part-time student, must be a resident of Garret County, Maryland, have at least a 3.0 GPA, must be transferring to an ACM Allied Health AA program from Garrett College, and must state financial need in essay on scholarship application. Funds from this scholarship will be used for books during the first year at ACM.

This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who has met the following minimum qualifications: Full-time student, must be a U.S. citizen/permanent resident, resident of Tri-State area, have at least a 3.5 GPA, must be enrolled in an Associate Degree program, must have successfully completed one semester at ACM, and must provide his or her ACM transcript. Applicant must describe long-term educational and career goals and state financial need in essay on scholarship application.

This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who has met the following minimum qualifications: Full- or part-time student, must be a U.S. citizen/permanent resident, have at least a 2.0 GPA, be enrolled in the Nursing or Pre-Nursing curriculum, and state financial need in essay on scholarship application. Must be a current member of the National Student Nurses’ Association.

This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who has met the following minimum qualifications: Full-time student, must be a U.S. citizen/permanent resident, resident of Four-State area, and have at least a 3.2 GPA, which must be maintained at the end of the first semester in order to continue into second semester.

This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who has met the following minimum qualifications: Full-time student (students are considered “full-time” for ACM Foundation scholarships if they are enrolled in the clinical phase of a two-year, associate degree Allied Health program for eight or more credit hours.), must be a U.S. citizen/permanent resident, resident of Pennsylvania, have at least a 2.0 GPA, be enrolled in an Allied Health curriculum, and state financial need in essay on scholarship application. Continuation of scholarship into second year is possible upon reapplication and proof of having met criteria.

This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who has met the following minimum qualifications: Full-time student (Students are considered “full-time” for ACM Foundation scholarships if they are enrolled in the clinical phase of a two-year, associate degree Allied Health program for eight or more credit hours.), must be a U.S. citizen/permanent resident, resident of Tri-State area, have at least a 3.0 GPA, and be enrolled in the Nursing curriculum. Applicant must state financial need in essay on scholarship application. Non-traditional students who are enrolled in the Nursing program while raising a family are encouraged to apply.

This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who has met the following minimum qualifications: Full-time student, must be a U.S. citizen/permanent resident, resident of Four-State area, have at least a 3.5 GPA, and be enrolled in the Occupational Therapy Assistant curriculum. Applicant must state financial need in essay on scholarship application. Awarded to a student during the fourth semester of the clinical phase of the OTA program to assist with financial needs for the fifth semester (summer) clinical affiliations.

This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who has met the following minimum qualifications: Full-time student, must be a U.S. citizen/permanent resident, resident of Four-State area, have at least a 3.0 GPA, and be enrolled in the clinical phase of the Physical Therapist Assistant curriculum. Applicant must state financial need in essay on scholarship application. Awarded to a student during the fourth semester of the clinical phase of the PTA program to assist with financial needs for the fifth semester (summer) clinical practicum affiliations.

This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who has met the following minimum qualifications: Full-time student, must be a U.S. citizen/permanent resident, resident of Four-State area, have at least a 2.0 GPA, state financial need in essay on scholarship application, and be a member of Al-Gar Federal Credit Union (if you, or a member of your immediate family or legal guardian are a member, state on application).

Scholarship for West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, or District of Columbia residents who are undergraduate students enrolled full-time at Allegany College of Maryland. Students must have a minimum 2.0 GPA, be U.S. citizens/permanent residents, and be members or immediate family members of Al-Gar Federal Credit Union. Number of awards may vary. This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who has met the following minimum qualifications: Full-time student, must be a U.S. citizen/permanent resident, resident of Allegany County, MD, and have at least a 3.0 GPA. This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who has met the following minimum qualifications: Full- or part-time student, must be a U.S. citizen/permanent resident, and have at least a 2.75 GPA. Scholarship for undergraduate students enrolled full-time at Allegany College of Maryland. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and be U.S. citizens/permanent residents. Female students are encouraged to apply. Number of awards may vary.

This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who has met the following minimum qualifications: Full-time student, must be a U.S. citizen/permanent resident, resident of Tri-State area, have at least a 3.0 GPA, be enrolled in Engineering (with special interest in the Geology field), Mathematics, Computer Science, or University Studies, state financial need in essay on scholarship application, and children and spouses of employees of Allegany Aggregates or Allegany Concrete who are attending ACM will be given first consideration. Continuation of scholarship into second year is possible upon reapplication and proof of having met criteria.

Scholarship for Maryland, Pennsylvania, or West Virginia residents who are undergraduate students enrolled full-time at Allegany College of Maryland majoring in Engineering, Computer Science, or University Studies. Selection of recipient will be based upon academic record and service to the school and community. Applicant must be an Alumni member, their parents, children, grandchildren, brothers, and sisters (state relationship to Alumni member—example: self, parent, sibling, etc.). Scholarship for Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, District of Columbia residents who are undergraduate students enrolled full-time at Allegany College of Maryland. This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who has met the following minimum qualifications: Full- or part-time student, must be a U.S. citizen/permanent resident, resident of Tri-State area, have at least a 3.0 GPA, and be enrolled in a Business-related curriculum. Applicant should state financial need in essay on scholarship application.

Scholarship for graduating high school seniors planning to attend part- or full-time at Allegany College of Maryland. Students must have a minimum 2.0 GPA, be U.S. citizens, participate in student council for a minimum of one year, and be attending an Allegany County, Maryland high school or Allegany County Center for Career and Technical Education. Number of awards may vary. Nonrenewable.

Scholarships will be provided to help support the cost of tuition that is not covered by federal or state aid and scholarship support. After applicants complete the FAFSA and apply for ACM Foundation scholarships, and Maryland State Scholarships have been determined, it is expected that up to 1/2 the Allegany County credit-hour rate will be provided through this scholarship fund if students apply and meet the following additional requirements: must be a U.S. citizen/permanent resident, be a current resident of Allegany County, Maryland, must have resided in Allegany County for the past three or more years, and have at least a 2.0 GPA.

This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who has met the following minimum qualifications: Full-time student, must be a U.S. citizen/permanent resident, resident of Harford County (first priority), Baltimore County, Cecil County, or Carroll County (second priority), or any resident of Maryland (third priority), have at least a 3.0 GPA, and be enrolled in the Forestry curriculum. The applicant must have a “C” or better in Dendrology I. The recipient is encouraged to visit the Arbor-X Company for one day during the Spring semester to experience the forestry profession. A paid (salary & housing) short-term summer internship may be available to the recipient for the summer following the award. The scholarship may be extended into the third semester pending approval from Arbor-X. Applicant should contact Arbor-X for extension. This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who has met the following minimum qualifications: Full-time student, must be a U.S. citizen/permanent resident, have at least a 2.0 GPA, be enrolled in the Forest Technology curriculum, and must have completed Forestry 250 and Forestry 251. Applicant must state career goals and how your personality and character can be applied to achieve those goals. Applicant’s essay should be 200-300 words and should address why you are interested in art. Applicant should submit 4-6 pieces of his or her artwork to the Allegany College of Maryland Foundation Office, 12401 Willowbrook Road, SE, Cumberland, MD 21502. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, be U.S. citizens/permanent residents, and have a minimum B average in Chemistry, Science, or Math. Number of awards may vary. This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who has met the following minimum qualifications: Full-time student (students are considered “full-time” for ACM Foundation scholarships if they are enrolled in the clinical phase of a two-year, associate degree Allied Health program for eight or more credit hours.), must be a U.S. citizen/permanent resident, resident of Maryland, have at least a 3.25 GPA, and be enrolled in the Dental Hygiene curriculum. This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who has met the following minimum qualifications: Must be a full-time student with a declared major in Mathematics, Engineering, Science, or related technical disciplines as developed by the college for similar studies in the future. The applicant must be a resident of the Sixth Congressional District of Maryland (Allegany, Carroll, Frederick, Garrett, or Washington counties) and must maintain an overall grade point average of 3.0 or better and a 3.5 grade point average in the mathematics and sciences classes. Scholarship for Bedford County, Pennsylvania residents who are college sophomores enrolled part- or full-time at Allegany College of Maryland. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and have earned a minimum of 28 credits. Number of awards may vary.

Scholarship for undergraduate students enrolled full-time at Allegany College of Maryland Bedford County Campus. Students must reside within the following school districts: Bedford Area, Chestnut Ridge, Claysburg Kimmel, Everett Area, Northern Bedford, or Tussey Mountain and must have lived there for a minimum of one year. Due dates are August 1st for the fall semester and December 1st for the spring semester. Number of awards and award amount may vary. An essay and FAFSA must be included with application packet.

This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who has met the following minimum qualifications: Full- or part-time student, must be a U.S. citizen/permanent resident, resident of Bedford County, PA, have at least a 2.0 GPA, and be enrolled in the Forestry curriculum. First consideration will be given to students who have successfully completed the first year of the Forestry program. Second consideration will be given to students completing the second semester of the first year. Scholarship for Bedford County, Pennsylvania residents who are college sophomores enrolled part- or full-time at Allegany College of Maryland majoring in Forestry. Students must have a minimum 2.0 GPA and be U.S. citizens/permanent residents. Number of awards may vary.

This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who has met the following minimum qualifications: Full- or part-time student, resident of Bedford County, have at least a 2.0 GPA, and be enrolled in the Human Service, pre-Human Service, Social Work, Psychology, or Early Childhood Education curriculum. The essay should address the applicant’s financial need as well as their desire to stay, work, and live in Bedford County.

Scholarship for Bedford County, Pennsylvania residents who are undergraduate students enrolled full-time at Allegany College of Maryland. Students must have a minimum 2.0 GPA and be U.S. citizens/permanent residents. Number of awards may vary. An essay must be included with application packet. Nonrenewable; recipients may reapply.

The Bedford Rotary Club Scholarship will be awarded to a full- or part-time student with a minimum of nine credits per semester. The scholarship recipient will be a resident of Bedford County, have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, be enrolled in an Associate’s Degree program, and state their financial need on their application essay. The recipient may attend any ACM campus. Applicants must describe their community service/volunteer activities.

This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who has met the following minimum qualifications: Full- or part-time student, resident of Somerset County, have at least a 3.0 GPA, be enrolled in a Business related curriculum, and state financial need. Continuation of scholarship into the second year is possible upon reapplication and proof of having met the criteria.

This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who has met the following minimum qualifications: Full-time student, must be a U.S. citizen/permanent resident, resident of Allegany County, have at least a 2.5 GPA, and state financial need in essay on scholarship application. This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who has met the following minimum qualifications: Full- or part-time student, must be a U.S. citizen/permanent resident, resident of Tri-State area, and have at least a 2.0 GPA. Priority given to a Belt Group of Companies (Carl Belt, Inc., Belt Paving, Inc., Hite Roofing, Harbel, Inc., and Quarry Ridge Corporation) current or former employee, or child, grandchild, stepchild, step grandchild, or bona fide dependent child or grandchild of a current or former Belt Group employee. This scholarship will be awarded for the Fall semester to a deserving student who has met the following minimum qualifications: Full-time student, resident of Tri-State area, have at least a 3.0 GPA, and be enrolled in the Biology, Forest Technology, or Tree Care Technician curriculum. Applicant must submit a brief essay (no more than one page) explaining his/her plan of study, how he/she would use the money, and how it coincides with the goals of Home Ground. The awardee will be expected to meet with the Home Ground organization after the semester to present a talk about his/her work and study, which may lead to a letter of recommendation if needed by the student. The award may be used towards tuition, cost of a field studies trip in biology or geology, independent study, or study abroad. The applicant’s work could be tied to a service learning project. Scholarship for Maryland, Pennsylvania, or West Virginia residents who are undergraduate students enrolled part- or full-time at Allegany College of Maryland majoring in Respiratory Therapy. This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who has met the following minimum qualifications: Full-time student, must be a U.S. citizen / permanent resident, have at least a 3.0 GPA, and be entering the second year of the Forestry program.

This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who has met the following minimum qualifications: Full- or part-time student, must be a U.S. citizen/permanent resident, resident of the Four-State area, have at least a 2.0 GPA, and be enrolled in a certificate or degree program. Applicant must state financial need in essay on scholarship application. Special consideration given to women breast cancer survivors, adult children who have lost a parent/guardian to breast cancer or have a parent/guardian with breast cancer. This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who has met the following minimum qualifications: Full-time student, must be a U.S. citizen/permanent resident, resident of Allegany County, have at least a 3.4 GPA, and be enrolled in Sociology, Social Science, Education, History, Mathematics, Computer Science, or University Studies. Applicant must have completed at least 15 credit hours at the 100 or above level prior to the Fall semester, and must attend the Cumberland Campus of ACM.
