The Dr. Lori DeWitt Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a full-time student who is majoring in Communication within the Fulton School of Liberal Arts, and wishes to participate in a Salisbury University Study Abroad program or a domestic semester exchange program, and has financial need from FAFSA. Dr. Lori J. DeWitt was a long-time member of the faculty of the Department of Communication. The daughter of two career educators, Dr. DeWitt’s career path inevitably took her into education. She began her career as a high school teacher in Southern California where she taught English, speech and debate, and coached the high school speech and debate team. She also taught special education and loved working with students with special needs. Dr. DeWitt briefly worked in the television media industry hosting a local cable home improvement show. Ultimately, she decided on a career in higher education and moved with her family in 2007 to Salisbury University where she joined the Department of Communication. She served on various department, school, and university committees and, by the time of her death, had just transitioned out as the chair of the department. Dr. DeWitt had a passion for travel. She spent important years of her life on the West Coast, in the Midwest, and on the East Coast. She traveled with her family extensively throughout the U.S. While serving on the faculty at Salisbury University, she led multiple study abroad trips to both Guatemala and Scotland. Additionally, she and her husband presented at international professional conferences in The People’s Republic of China and explored setting up study abroad programs in England and Northern Ireland. Dr. DeWitt was very involved in her church and traveled on numerous mission trips to Peru and Macedonia. The memorial scholarship in Dr. DeWitt’s name supports Salisbury University Communication majors with high financial need to embark on an academic exchange or travel program either abroad or in the USA as part of their college career. Dr. Dewitt knew the educational benefit of travel and wanted as many students as possible to participate in these programs. Scholarship recipients are determined by a combination of GPA (3.0 min cumulative GPA), application essay, and demonstrated financial need. Winners will receive a scholarship up to $1,000 which is applied to any study abroad or study away program approved by the Janet Dudley-Eshbach Center for International Education at Salisbury University. Applications are due by May 15 for the following fall, winter, spring or summer.

The Alan and Patti Guerrieri Scholarship provides academic merit based scholarships for incoming freshman students entering the University. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $2,000 per year. Applicants must be an incoming freshman, have a minimum SAT of 1250 or ACT of 26, cumulative high school GPA of 3.3 or better and submit written essay reflection. Students admitted as test optional must have a 3.7 high school GPA or better in order to apply. This scholarship is open to any major. Scholarships are awarded as renewable 4 year scholarships (8 semesters), provided the student is full time 12 credits or more each semester and maintains a 3.3 cumulative GPA.

To recognize an Information systems major who has demonstrated outstanding potential in the Information Technology field. The $500 scholarship in non-renewable and will be awarded to a rising Sophomore or Junior in good standing in the Perdue School of Business. Particular consideration is given to students that are actively involved with information systems and technology and are interested in becoming a Business Analyst, Technology Specialist, Project Manager, or Information Technology Consultant. Awarded to Sophomore or Junior with a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

The Claude Bowdle Nursing Scholarship recognizes a first-degree nursing major or entering second-degree nursing major. Minimum qualifications include the following: must be enrolled full-time in the nursing program, in good standing in the College of Health and Human Services with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or better, and demonstrate financial need. Preference is given to applicants who are residents of Wicomico, Dorchester, Worcester or Somerset counties. This scholarship is in the amount of $5,000 for two years and is non-renewable.

The Dolle scholarships, in the amount of $1,000 each, are one-year scholarships awarded annually to majors in the Perdue School of Business. One scholarship is awarded to a current rising junior Salisbury University student the other to an incoming rising junior transfer student, if eligible. Both students must have 60 credits and be eligible for admission to one of the upper division (professional) programs in the Perdue School. Students who are recipients of any other Perdue School tuition assistance scholarships are not eligible for the Dolle scholarships. Students must submit two letters of recommendation. This is a non-renewable scholarship.

The First Generation scholarship will be awarded to students whose disadvantaged background deters the pursuit of educational plans in business, science, education or the arts. Available to a first generation student that shows potential for overcoming personal obstacles for higher education; $1,000 per year, renewable if student maintains cumulative 2.5 GPA. Must show financial need from FAFSA. .

The Irving and Sylvia Cort Scholarship in chemistry was established by Bruce Cort in honor of his parents, Irving and Sylvia Cort. The award is given annually to chemistry majors based on academic excellence in high school. Generally, a student needs a minimum combined SAT/ACT score of 1200/25 and a high school academic GPA of 3.3 to be considered (exceptions can be made) and a declared major in Chemistry. This scholarship is awarded for a maximum of four years provided the student is full-time, maintains a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and makes satisfactory progress toward a chemistry degree. In addition, each scholarship recipient will be named a Chemistry Department Research Fellow and receive a grant of $250 per year to support student-faculty research. For a student to maintain “Satisfactory Progress towards a Chemistry Degree” he/she must finish Chem 121, Chem 122, and Math 201 with a grade of C or better by the end of the first year, Chem 221, Chem 222, and Math 202 with grades of C or better by the end of the second year, and Chem 341 or CHEM 342 along with a year of physics with grades of C or better by the end of the third year. The research grant cannot be carried over from one year to the next. Student-faculty research must be conducted with a full-time tenure track faculty member from the Department of Chemistry or related department with the Department of Chemistry approval.

The Jack Metzger Scholarship Fund is made available by the American Legion Post 278 of Kent Island, MD. Priority for the $1,000 scholarship goes to a freshman from Kent Island with second priority being a freshman from Queen Anne’s County, MD. The selection committee from the Admissions and Financial Aid offices select the recipient(s) each year. Applicants must plan to enroll full-time and must demonstrate academic merit.

The Joseph W.T. and Hannah C. Smith Memorial Scholarship recognizes nursing students who are academically gifted and demonstrate outstanding potential for a career in nursing. Minimum applicant qualifications include: a declared major in pre-nursing, maintenance of full-time status (enrolled for a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester and complete 24 credits per academic year) throughout four years of the nursing program, and maintenance of an GPA of 2.5 each academic semester as a declared pre-nursing or nursing major. The scholarship will be awarded annually to an entering freshman for a maximum of eight academic semesters. The scholarship award is up to $2,500 per year for four academic years.

The Maryland Society of Accountants Scholarship Foundation, Inc was established to provide scholarships to promising undergraduate students majoring in accounting. Each fall the Foundation awards annual scholarships in the amount of $2,000 for full time students, and $1,000 for part-time students (not to exceed $8000.00 per recipient). Applicants who are selected will receive one half of the scholarship each semester. The second installment is dependent on the recipient submitting a semester transcript which shows they have maintained the required academic performance. To apply, students must meet the eligibility requirements listed below, submit the on-line application, and send in the required attachments by June 15. Please note, students should not send official transcripts prior to the Spring semester class grades being posted; any transcript received which does not include the most recent Spring semester grades will not be considered for scholarship! To be eligible, applicants must: •Be a Maryland Resident enrolled in an accredited Maryland University, College or Community College •Have successfully completed Accounting Principles I and II, with a grade of “B” or better. •Maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or higher in both accounting and overall. •Be enrolled in a program, with a major in accounting leading to a degree or certificate •Attend a special recognition ceremony. RENEWAL OF AWARD: •The second installment of the scholarship is dependent on the recipient submitting a transcript for fall/winter grades by January 15th which shows they have maintained the required academic performance. The $12,000 scholarship (paid over 4 years, with a maximum $3,000 annually) is available to an incoming, first time, undergraduate freshman Salisbury University (SU) student who has made a deposit to attend in the upcoming Fall semester and has an interest in making SU and the world a better place. The applicant must have demonstrated financial need as determined by the most current year FAFSA and will exhibit via a 500 word essay the impact their leadership has made in their home community and how they plan to continue to hone their leadership skills as an active member of the SU community. Applicants are required to complete the application and essay, have a minimum 3.3 high school GPA, and provide a nomination letter from a teacher or administrator at their high school illustrating the applicant’s contributions to the community. Students who have paid their fall admission deposit by the scholarship deadline will be given first consideration. Recipients will be notified on or around May 20th each year. The scholarship is renewable over 4 years if the recipient meets the following criteria: annual completion of 30 credits, a cumulative GPA of 3.0 each semester, continued demonstrated financial need from the FAFSA, and a minimum of 50 hours of continued SU community involvement each academic year. The SU community involvement verification will be confirmed through the Volunteer Center within Career Services at SU. You will need to notify the Volunteer Center each time you participate in a community service program/project so that office can verify and attest to those hours. Please be sure to provide a name, contact phone number and email address of a contact person with the organization with whom you completed the service, as well as the total number of hours worked. The verification of all community service/involvement hours must be submitted to the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships by the Volunteer Center at SU no later than May 15th each year for renewal eligibility. Salisbury University is a Division III member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and therefore athletic leadership, ability, participation or performance cannot be utilized as a criterion in the determination of your financial aid award. Three – $2,000 scholarships are awarded annually to juniors in the Henson School (transfer students entering their junior year are eligible to apply for these awards). To qualify, students must provide one letter of recommendation and provide one nomination letter from the Chair of your department within their major. In addition, students must have a 3.3 cumulative GPA and be enrolled full-time. Henson Scholarships are renewed each semester provided that the awardees remain in the Henson School and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.3 for the $2,000 scholarship. Current Henson Scholars awarded as an incoming freshman student are not eligible to apply to the Henson Junior Grade Level Scholarship.

The Richard A. Henson School of Science and Technology annually awards three scholarships (one for $3,000 and two for $2,000) to incoming freshman students. Students must declare a major in one of the departments of the Henson School of Science & Technology and must have a record of accomplishment and service. Incoming freshman must have a minimum SAT score of 1250 or ACT of 26 and a high school cumulative GPA of 3.3 or better. Test optional admitted students must have at least a 3.7 HS GPA or better in order to apply. Henson Scholarships are renewed each semester, up to 8 semesters, provided that the awardees remain in the Henson School, enroll full-time each semester 12 credits or more and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 for the $2,000 scholarship or 3.5 for the $3,000 scholarship.

The first Salisbury University Foundation, Inc. scholarship for graduate students, the Rick Dudley Scholarship Fund for Graduate Students with Disabilities, provides assistance for disabled graduate scholars. This scholarship program is a continuation of the Dudley family’s abiding faith in the power of education to change lives. The Dudley Scholarship provides varying scholarship amounts to assist in a variety of situations. Full-time (7+credits) graduate students can receive $5,000 per year for up to three years; part-time (4-6 credits) graduate students enrolled in four to six credit hours per semester can receive $3,000 per year for up to four years; and part-time graduate students enrolled in three or fewer credit hours per semester can receive $1,500 per year for up to four years. A student may receive both a Graduate Assistantship and a Rick Dudley Scholarship, providing the criterion for both is met, but will receive an award of only $3,000. Applicants must meet the requirements of acceptance into a graduate program at Salisbury University and remain enrolled and in good standing in a graduate program. Requirements: The Rick Dudley Scholarship is intended to assist individuals with “severe and substantial disabilities” in pursuing a graduate degree at Salisbury University and is intended solely for students who meet any of the following criteria for severe and substantial disability:  * Persons who have a permanent disability which results in the inability to ambulate without the use of a wheelchair, cane, crutches, or a walker; or  * Persons who have a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy which substantially affects balance, gait, and walking endurance in the absence of such mobility aids; or  * Persons who are legally blind with glasses; or  * Persons who cannot understand normal speech without amplification and are considered profoundly deaf; or  * Persons whose speech cannot be understood by the average person; or  * Persons who need personal assistance with activities of daily living. Scholarship recipients must maintain continued admission status, that is be enrolled in at least one class each of the fall and spring semesters, throughout their graduate education. The scholarship will be rescinded if the student falls below minimum graduate program requirements for maintenance of satisfactory status. “Provisional admission” in the M.B.A. and M.S.W. programs does not meet this scholarship criterion. A graduate student on probation will not be awarded a scholarship. The Sterling Scholarship is awarded to incoming freshmen who are permanent residents of Somerset or Wicomico county. The scholarship is for $1,000 per year for four years, and is awarded based on scholastic ability and financial need from FAFSA. Students must remain enrolled full-time with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 in order to continue to receive the scholarship.

The Salisbury University Alumni Association annually awards one scholarship to an incoming freshman student equivalent to $2,000 per year for four academic years total. Minimum qualifications include a demonstrated participation in extracurricular activities. Students admitted by February 1st are screened by the Admissions and Financial Aid offices. This information is forwarded to the Alumni Association Scholarship Committee, which selects the recipient. Preference is given to the children of Salisbury University alumni, however the scholarship is not restricted to such students. Must have 1250 SAT/25 ACT and 3.5 cumulative high school GPA. Incoming students admitted as test optional with no standardized test score can still apply as long as their high school GPA is a 3.7 or better.

As the population of older adults continues to grow and life spans lengthen, more and more young people are taking on the role of caregiver for older loved ones. While the exact number of young people taking on this responsibility is not well understood, it’s estimated to be well over 1 million. On top of their demanding caregiving duties, many of these young people are simultaneously pursuing high school, college or graduate-level education. Scholarships for student-caregivers help ease the financial burden faced by these extremely hardworking students. We understand that student caregivers may not have the time to scour the Internet to find available scholarships to help them pay for college. This is a $1,000 scholarship awarded to an economics major enrolled in the Perdue School of Business. If there are no eligible economics majors in a given year, then students in business administration with a track in economics will be considered. If the students being considered are finance or business administration majors in the economics track, they must be admissible to the upper division program. The scholarship is renewable for a second year, based on maintenance of a 3.3 cumulative GPA or above and a major in the Perdue School of Business as cited previously.

The Stephen Michael Emery scholarship was established by Barbara and Charles Emery in memory of their late son. More recently, Mr. Emery lost his brother Paul Porter Emery. The SU Foundation was honored to serve as a memorial agent for the Emery family. This $500 scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time student majoring in Social Work. Student must be a SU senior (college) grade level of the upcoming school year, preference shall be given to students from the Eastern Shore of Maryland. This scholarship is non-renewable. An in-person or Zoom interview will be required by the selection committee as part of the application process.

The Thomas G. Elliot Scholarship, in the amount of $1,000, will be awarded to students who are enrolled at Salisbury University. The awards are made on the basis of talent and may be renewable for up to four years. All students must audition with the conductor of the orchestra and the orchestra player’s committee. String students will be highly encouraged to apply. Students from all majors are invited to apply. All students accepting this scholarship must meet the following criteria: play and be enrolled in the orchestra for credit each semester, be enrolled in applied lessons at the University on their instrument, and maintain an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0. Students must reapply each year.

The University Orchard Scholarship is a one-time, non-renewable $10,000 scholarship, where candidates will be required to write a one page essay discussing their impact on campus life at Salisbury University. Additional eligibility requirements include: full-time undergraduate; cumulative 3.0 GPA; financial need from the FAFSA; resident of (preference – have graduated high school from) Wicomico, Worcester, Somerset or Dorchester Counties in MD; have at least 2 semesters left at SU. Preference to currently enrolled students first, then newly admitted students for the upcoming academic year. The mission of the scholarship is to partner with Salisbury University to create opportunities for SU students that come from the Lower Eastern Shore communities. You DO NOT need to be a resident of University Orchard in order to apply to this scholarship! University Orchard, a Campus First student property, is located less than one-half mile from the main campus of Salisbury University. Campus First is committed to not only being the premier provider of off-campus student housing for Salisbury University, but is equally excited to support the University by introducing this new scholarship opportunity.

This $500, one-year scholarship is awarded to a junior pursing a major in the Perdue School of Business. The student must have 60 credits completed and be eligible for admission to one of the upper division (professional) programs in the Perdue School. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5. This student will have demonstrated outstanding leadership potential and exceptional academics. Students must submit two letters of recommendation.

The Allfirst Foundation Scholarship provides funds to incoming freshman, full-time students who demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and academic merit.

The University System of Maryland, through the Alumni Association – International (AA-I), Incorporated, established the AA-I Scholarship to recognize exemplary students from Maryland matriculating through a University System of Maryland institution. The AA-I scholarship will be bestowed upon a Salisbury University student who demonstrates academic achievement, strong commitment to community service, and leadership ability. The AA-I Scholarship Committee will review all applications and select the final recipients. A scholarship award notification will be sent to the recipients who have been selected to receive this scholarship. Incoming freshman applicants must have a minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.50. Transfer students must have at least a cumulative GPA of 3.50 from the most recent institution. Current undergraduate Salisbury University students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or above. Students must be Maryland residents and all applicants must enroll as full-time undergraduate students. All applicants must upload an official transcript and provide two academic letters of reference. This is a one-time only scholarship and is non-renewable, although you may reapply multiple years. The deadline to have ALL application material submitted, including both letters of recommendations, is April 1st. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. This scholarship will honor Amy’s legacy in the area of social work. An eligible recipient must be a Maryland resident who is current student enrolled full time in the Master of Social Work program and has a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better.

The Andes Family scholarship is available to full time students in the Seidel School of Education at Salisbury University in the Departments of Early and Elementary Education and Secondary and Physical Education. Must be full-time and in good standing in the Seidel School, a declared education major with Senior status and in the capstone or internship phase of their program,must be a MD resident, 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher, and demonstrate financial need from the FAFSA. Preference given to a traditional student who is seeking their first bachelor’s degree, that has matriculated to Salisbury University directly from a high school setting in the capstone or internship phase of studies. This is a non-renewable scholarship.

The Anne & John Gilheany scholarship will provide funding to a senior grade level student pursuing an undergraduate degree in social work, meeting the following criteria: first generation college student; minimum cumulative GPA 3.0; completion of a short two paragraph essay (500 words or less) answering the following questions: 1. What is care? 2. How do you care for others?

The Anne H. Matthews Award is available to a junior education major who shows promise of becoming a successful teacher. Must evidence good relationships with fellow students, have desire for knowledge and professional growth and show involvement in campus and/or community activities.

The Audrey C. Christopher Scholars Program provides scholarship opportunities to undergraduate junior grade level students majoring in education. Eligible undergraduate students must be admitted in the professional program in the Seidel School, have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better, demonstrate financial need from the FAFSA and be enrolled full-time. The scholarship can be renewed for one additional year if awarded as a junior with a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or better.

The Audrey C. Christopher Endowment for Education, established in 1996, is intended to provide scholarships for students in the School of Education at Salisbury University. To be eligible for consideration Doctoral (EdD) candidates must be admitted to the program for the upcoming academic year; can be full-time or part-time; must complete a FAFSA and have financial need as determined by FAFSA; and must have a cumulative 3.5 GPA in previous program work. Changes in employment status, tuition remission and/or total income could affect the amount of future award amounts. Part-time enrolled students maybe funded at a lesser amount.

The Audrey C. Christopher Endowment for Education, established in 1996, is intended to provide scholarships to incoming freshman majoring in education. The minimum qualifications for consideration include a high school cumulative GPA of 3.3, a combined minimum SAT score of 1200 or ACT of 25, financial need as demonstrated through filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the corresponding academic year and submission of a short writing sample. The scholarship may be renewed for a maximum of 8 semesters provided the recipient remains enrolled full-time as an education major with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 and has continued financial need each year from FAFSA.

The Avery W. Hall Nursing Scholarship annually recognizes nursing students thought to be highly motivated, hardworking, enthusiastic and dedicated to the profession of nursing. Minimum qualifications include the following: Junior or Senior traditional or RN student, 2.5 cumulative GPA and two letters of recommendation. The Bobbi Biron Scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman who has achieved a 3.0 high school cumulative GPA and shown outstanding dedication and promise in theatre. An audition is required for performers and a portfolio review is required for designers/technicians. The Brad Blumenauer Legacy Scholarship is available to a current, full-time, undergraduate student that resides in Maryland with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better. The scholarship in not renewable. A short essay is required as part of the application.

The Brandon L. Ennis Memorial Scholarship will provide funding to a full-time, undergraduate accounting major in the Perdue School of Business who demonstrates academic excellence based on completion of a minimum of 9 credit hours of accounting course work at SU. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need from FAFSA. This scholarship can be renewed one additional year if awarded as a junior and criteria are met.

The Brent & Amy Miller Sales Scholarship will provide funding to a full time undergraduate student who has been admitted to the Perdue School of Business and is pursuing a Professional Sales minor. Candidate must have an overall cum GPA of 3.0 or better. Can be renewed if criteria are met for one additional year.

The Brian DelliGatti Scholarship will provide funding to a junior or senior grade level student pursuing an undergraduate degree in the pre-med program. In addition the student must be enrolled full-time and be a resident of Maryland. Eligible recipients will be prioritized by highest academic potential and/or achievement. This scholarship can be renewed for one additional year if awarded as a junior and a cumulative 3.0 GPA is maintained.

The Brunkhorst Nursing Scholarship recognizes a freshman undergraduate student with a declared major in pre-nursing. Students must be full-time, incoming Freshman nursing major, competitive SAT and have a cumulative 3.0 high school GPA. Recipients must maintain a cumulative 2.5 GPA for renewal (up to 8 semesters).

This scholarship will assist deserving students who demonstrate leadership qualities, entrepreneurial inclination, a desire to pursue a business degree from Salisbury University Perdue School of Business and the wish to return to Cambridge some of the benefits of their education. This award is not necessarily given on the basis of high scholastic rank or financial need. Students apply for this scholarship directly with Byron Investments.

This Carey-Simmons scholarship is awarded annually to a student pursuing a career in public school education in Maryland. Education major, Junior, Senior or Graduate level status. To qualify, applicants must have completed two years of successful undergraduate study. Applicants are judged on merit, achievement and potential. Must be resident of following areas: Pittsville, Parsonsburg, Willards, Powellville in MD or Gumboro, DE for extended period of time.

The Berquist Business Scholarship will provide funding to a full time undergraduate student who has been admitted to the Perdue School of Business. Eligible students must be enrolled full time each semester as a junior or senior grade level. Students must also have financial need from the FAFSA and a 3.0 cumulative GPA or better to qualify. The scholarship may be renewed if awarded as a junior and minimum qualifications are met including a cumulative 3.0 GPA or better and remaining in a Perdue School of Business major.

The Carolyn Cramer Korn Scholarship is awarded to students from Carroll County, MD who have been accepted into a major in a field of study in the Seidel School of Education at Salisbury University. Applicants must be a current student from Carroll County, MD; major in education, have a cumulative 3.2 GPA. Renewable for 2 additional semesters, if awarded as a junior, as long as student remains eligible.

The Elmore Honors Scholarship in Education will provide financial support for incoming and current students who have been accepted into the Honors College and are pursuing a degree as an education major (elementary or early childhood) at Salisbury University. Students must be enrolled full-time and have a declared elementary or early childhood education major to be eligible. This is not a renewable scholarship, although you may reapply each year.

The Caruthers Memorial Award will go to a junior or senior education major who evidences academic scholarship, leadership skills, involvement in campus and/or community activities and who shows promise in becoming a successful teacher.

The Cathell Garigliano Memorial Scholarship will provide funding for up to 6 semesters to a current SU student according to the following minimum criteria: full-time undergraduate with a minimum of 30 credits; declared major in History, Political Science or Biology; minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50; Resident of the Eastern Shore of MD from Caroline, Cecil, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s, Somerset, Talbot, Wicomico or Worcester Counties in MD, Virginia Counties of Accomack or Northampton and Delaware Counties in Sussex, Kent or New Castle; Preference given to a student with financial need; and completion of a short essay (250 words or less). This scholarship was created in honor of Kimberly Ann (Garigliano) Cathell, Salisbury University Class of 1996. Scholarship is available for a total of 6 semesters maximum. The Catherine & Porter Ent Memorial Scholarship will provide one or more scholarships for incoming or current undergraduate student(s). Recipients must demonstrate financial need and will be prioritized by high academic potential or achievement. Preference will be given to residents of Wicomico, Worcester, Dorchester, and Somerset Counties. If there are no eligible students from those counties, then preference will be given to residents of other areas of the Delmarva Peninsula, including Sussex County, DE, and Northampton and Accomack Counties, VA. The Toth Scholarship for Science Education will provide a scholarship to a full time sophomore, junior or senior grade level undergraduate student who plans a career as a secondary education science teacher. The recipient must be a science major with a secondary education track; preference given to Physics secondary education; cumulative 3.0 GPA or better and preference to a student with demonstrated financial need from FAFSA.

This scholarship will provide financial assistance to students who meet the following criteria: *General requirements: *Must demonstrate Financial Need, *Must be a student in their sophomore year at Salisbury University. The scholarship is renewable up to three years. *Must be a Maryland resident *Must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or higher *One student will be awarded per academic year *Preference given to students who self-identify as engaged in, mentorship and is a member of a chapter of the NAACP and, active in campus life through one or more of the following, registered student organizations: Black Student Union or African, Student Association at Salisbury University.

The Charles R. and Martha N. Fulton School of Liberal Arts scholarship awards a number of $2,000 and $3,000 scholarships based on outstanding scholastic achievement. To be considered for an award a student must declare a major in one of the departments of the Fulton School of Liberal Arts. Applicants must be an incoming freshman, enrolled full-time, have a minimum SAT of 1250 or ACT of 26, cumulative high school GPA of 3.3 and submit written essay. Test optional admitted students must have at least a 3.7 HS GPA or better in order to apply. Scholarship are renewable each year for up to eight semesters, provided the student remains a major in a liberal arts department, is full time each semester and maintains a 3.3 cumulative GPA.

The Clark Family Music Scholarship will provide financial support for students who have been accepted into a music major in the Fulton School of Liberal Arts. It will be awarded to an incoming freshman (first preference) music major who has demonstrated promise in the growth as an artist. Students must be enrolled full-time and participate in an audition with the Department of Music and is not automatically renewed each year, must reapply. The Class of ’43 Scholarship was established to provide funding for an education major, junior and senior grade level. The scholarship will be awarded for two successive years to a student majoring in education in the Seidel School of Education. The selection committee from the Seidel School of Education and the Financial Aid office determine the applicant pool and the recipient each year.

The Class of 1958 Scholarship provides scholarships for teacher education majors within the Seidel School. Requirements for consideration include demonstrated financial need from FAFSA, junior or senior status and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Preference is given to students who are related to a Class of 1958 graduate or alumnus.

The Clifford and Elizabeth Cahall Scholarship was established by Sam and Lynn Seidel in honor of Lynn Seidel’s parents, Clifford and Elizabeth Cahall. Although any Sussex County graduate is considered, first priority is given to a graduate of Indian River High School and second priority is given to a graduate of Sussex Central High School. Class rank, SAT scores and financial need from FAFSA are considered. Provided recipients maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA, the scholarship will continue throughout the four years at Salisbury University. The Clinton Bradway Jr scholarship is awarded to an education major. The late Colonel Meta Mildred Mills, a veteran of the United States Air Force (USAF) Nurse Corps, was named Head Nurse for the United States Astronaut Program in 1963. Working her way through the military ranks, Colonel Mills exemplified the nursing profession. As a graduate of Cambridge, MD, hospital’s nursing program, she continued her service in the field of nursing by entering the USAF in 1950. Twenty-five years later, Colonel Meta Mills retired. The Colonel Meta M. Mills Nursing Scholarship is awarded to students who are enrolled full-time in the Doctorate of Nursing program at Salisbury University. The recipient must demonstrate financial need from FAFSA and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The scholarship is awarded through the Department of Nursing and is non-renewable.

The Comprehensive Financial Solutions Next Generation scholarship will provide funding to a current undergraduate student admitted to the Perdue School of Business as a finance major with a track in investments. A cumulative GPA of 3.00 is required. This is not a renewable scholarship.

Diversity of Thought in the business world allows an organization to explore different ways of approaching a goal through intentionally seeking out different points of view and not following the status quo. The Crabtree Diversity of Thought Sales Scholarship will be awarded to students who have demonstrated leadership through forward thinking, proactivity, and serving as a change-agent in community, campus or workplace situations. This renewable scholarship will be awarded to a full-time undergraduate student participating in the Mid-Atlantic Sales & Marketing Institute who completes their required One-Day Internship at Pohanka Automotive Group of Salisbury (pool of approximately 6-10 students). Candidate must have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 or more. You must have participated in the one-day internship this current fall semester. This scholarship will be applied to the upcoming spring semester financial aid for the selected student(s). After completing the One-Day Internship, the applicant must submit a short essay (250 words or less) explaining how diversity of thought, thinking ‘outside of the box’ or ‘going against the grain’, benefits the workplace by introducing progressive thinking. Applicant must give specific examples of community and/or campus involvement where they have practiced diversity of thought and its effect on the outcome. The scholarship will award two $2,500 scholarships in the fall semester and two $2,500 scholarships in the spring. One scholarship is awarded annually from the Craig N. Piepenbring Memorial Fund to a student in good standing in the Perdue School of Business. Particular consideration is given to students actively involved in student activities on the Salisbury University campus. Applications are accepted for the award annually, pending availability of funds. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 required. However, if the current recipient is a sophomore, he/she may reapply as a junior and will be considered for a second year with all other applicants on a competitive basis. The Culross Family endowment for nursing will provide a renewable scholarship to students pursuing an undergraduate degree meeting the following criteria: admitted to upper division nursing courses, non-traditional student, preference will be given to students with interest in gerontology.

The Daly Computers, Inc. Scholarship is awarded to sophomore, junior or senior students at Salisbury University who have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The scholarship is intended for students who have encountered a recent and unexpected financial hardship that could jeopardize their ability to continue with their education. The scholarship is non-renewable and recipients are chosen through an application process overseen by the Director of Financial Aid. This scholarship is only available to full-time, degree seeking undergraduate (first degree) students that are taking classes on the main campus at Salisbury University, not at various satellite locations. Available on an on-going basis during academic school year if funding is available. Application submission does not guarantee funding.

The David L. and Carol M. Pearl Scholarship is awarded to junior or senior students enrolled in a Teacher Education major in the Seidel School. Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and demonstrate financial need from the FAFSA. Must be a high school graduate of Somerset County, MD or Worcester County, MD. If there are no qualified students from Somerset County, MD or Worcester County, MD then applicants may be selected from either Wicomico County or Cecil County, MD. The scholarship is renewable for one additional year if awarded as a junior and minimum criteria are met.

The David H. and Erma Pearl Scholarship will provide scholarship support for a student in good standing at Salisbury University in the Seidel School of Education, per the following criteria: a high school graduate of Worcester County, MD. If there are no qualified students from Worcester County, MD then a student from Somerset County, MD may be selected; a education major; junior or senior grade level, financial need from the current FAFSA and a 3.0 cumulative GPA or better. The scholarship may be renewed for a second year if awarded as a junior and the eligibility criteria continue to be maintained with a cumulative 3.0 GPA, eligible Seidel major and completion of 24 credits each year.

The David Yuri Hooper Scholarship was established by David and Wilma Hooper to honor the excellent education received by their son who graduated from Salisbury University in 1994. It provides $1,000 scholarships for incoming, full-time freshman students from single-income families demonstrating financial need. The scholarship is renewable annually provided the recipient continues to meet the eligibility criteria. Preference will be given to students majoring in biology, but in the event that there are no qualified biology applicants, students majoring in any other department in the Henson School will be considered. Eligible candidates must submit a two-page essay explaining their need and demonstrating that they are of good moral character. Recipients are selected by the Deans of the Henson School and Enrollment Management.

The Deirdre Adina Campbell Scholarship will provide financial support to a student meeting the following criteria: 1) Student must be full time and in good standing at Salisbury University; 2) Have at least one semester remaining until degree completion at Salisbury University; 3) Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better; 4) Pursue a major or minor in Biology; 5) Preference given to a student with financial need from the FAFSA; 6) Preference given to incoming students who identify themselves to be active in their local NAACP Chapter; 7) Preference given to current students who identify themselves to be members of an NAACP chapter and active in campus life through one or more of the following registers student organizations: Black Student Union; African Student Association; National Council of Negro Women.

The Delta Kappa Gamma Beta Chapter Award will be given to a senior recipient student majoring in education who is currently interning or who has completed internship. Must have graduated from a Worcester, Wicomico, Dorchester, or Somerset County high school and show promise of becoming a successful teacher.

Diane D. Allen served as provost and senior vice president of academic affairs at Salisbury University from 2009 to 2017. Dr. Allen was a native of Memphis, TN, and earned her master’s and doctoral degrees in Curriculum and Instruction from Oklahoma State University and her bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Memphis. The Diane D. Allen Scholarship is designated to defray the costs of dissertation work of students in the Contemporary Curriculum Theory and Instruction in Literacy doctoral program (EDCIEDD) in the Seidel School of Education at Salisbury University. One scholarship will be awarded annually. Applications for the Diane D. Allen Scholarship should include a brief proposal narrative and budget. The proposal narrative should outline the major components of the applicant’s dissertation research and should be no more than 3 pages in length (12-point font, single spaced, including references). It should clearly and concisely describe the aims and methodology of the proposed research as well as the expected contribution of the work to existing literacy research. In addition to the proposal narrative, the application should also contain a budget (up to 1 page) outlining the direct expenses to be incurred and supported by the scholarship. The budget may be presented via table format. The awarded applicant will be expected to complete and send a thank you letter acknowledging the support that has been provided for this scholarship. Instructions for writing and sending the letter will be provided. The proposal will be evaluated on the following criteria: • Appropriateness of the introduction, including a clear and concise review of existing research and description of the aims/research questions • Appropriateness of the methodology, including a clear and concise description of the participants to be examined, materials to be used, and design/procedures to be employed • Appropriateness of the planned analyses in supporting the aims of the proposed research • Description of the proposed implications of the research • Feasibility of the proposed budget • Quality of writing and accordance with APA style Students should not apply for this scholarship until you have successfully completed your comprehensive exam.

This fund will provide scholarships for current students in the Seidel School. It will be awarded to a teacher education major who has demonstrated promise, whose pursuit of excellence is foremost, and who’s habits reflect professionalism in and out of the classroom. Students must be full-time, declared major in Teacher Education, junior or senior grade level, 3.0 cum GPA, demonstrate academic merit. This is a non-renewable scholarship.

The Director’s Fellowships were established to recognize exceptional incoming freshman students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and the promise for leadership and success on the Salisbury University campus. Fellowships range from $1,000 to $2,000 and are awarded as a four year scholarship. For consideration, applicants need to apply to the Honors College using the online application by the priority deadline. Students are selected based on their academic accomplishments (1200 SAT/25 ACT minimum), as well as an additional essay. Recipients are decided by the Honors Admissions committee, comprised of the Director and Assistant Director of the Glenda Chatham & Robert G. Clarke Honors College and the Director of Admissions. The DNP Inaugural Class of 2015 Scholarship will provide a non-renewable scholarship to students who have completed their first year of the DNP program, in good standing and meeting the following criteria: Minimum cumulative GPA 3.5; Preference given to a student with primary residency on the Delmarva Peninsula defined as Delaware Counties of New Castle, Kent and Sussex; MD Counties of Kent, Queen Anne’s, Talbot, Caroline, Dorchester, Wicomico, Somerset, Worcester and Cecil; Virginia Counties of Accomack and North Hampton. Preference will be given to the post masters DNP student. Two essays are required.

This endowment was created to provide a scholarship to current students who demonstrate financial need from FAFSA with an overall GPA of 3.0 or better. Candidates must meet at least one of the following criteria: enrolled in the special education track/minor; enrolled in courses in preparation for certification in special education; or a current student meeting special education certification requirement (taking and passing Praxis II in special education). Special consideration will be given with a focus in communication and/or learning disabilities. Can be renewed for one additional year if awarded as a junior and criteria is still met.

The Dr. Brandy J. Terrill Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a full-time undergraduate student who has been formally admitted to the Professional Teacher Education Program with the following requirements: Senior year entering internship for elementary or early childhood education; required essay and preference to a student with financial need from the FAFSA.

Established in the memory of Salisbury University Education professor, Dr. Charles K. Long, this scholarship is awarded annually to an education major in the Seidel School of Education. The Education Scholarships/Awards Committee selects recipients of the scholarship in March for the following academic year. Recipients must be a full-time education major, demonstrate academic merit and be a junior or senior of the upcoming academic year.

The Fleming Family Music scholarship was established to recognize the great contributions she has made to the students of Salisbury University over many years and to remind the numerous Salisbury graduates of their association with Dr. Jessie Fleming with pride and appreciation. This scholarship will be awarded to one music major or minor who has best represented and promoted the music department. A short essay is required as part of the application process. The decision as to the recipient of the award will be decided by a committee of three with representatives from: Financial Aid, the SU Foundation, and the Music Department Chair. The Dr. Patti Erickson Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a full-time student who is majoring in Biological Sciences within the Henson School of Science and Technology, and has the following requirements: Minimum GPA of 3.3, Rising junior who is a declared Biological Science major, preference given to those students who are in the Biomedical Science or Biotechnology track and in the Clarke Honors College. The scholarship is renewable for one additional year if criteria are met.

The Dr. S. Goldsborough Tyler, Jr. and Catharine A. Tyler Scholarship is awarded to junior or senior students who are enrolled in a teacher education major at Salisbury University. Students must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and demonstrate financial need from FAFSA. The scholarship is renewable for up to two academic years and can be used to cover tuition, fees, books and room and board. The scholarship is awarded through the Seidel School of Education.

The Dudley-Eshbach Study Abroad Scholarship provides $1,000 in funding to a student who is studying abroad in a Spanish-speaking country in Latin America. The program must be a minimum of four weeks in duration and can take place in any term. Requirements for consideration include: good academic standing and making progress towards a declared major or minor in Spanish or Latin American Studies, demonstrated financial need, enrolled full-time and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Selection is made by the Department of Modern Languages. Two letters of recommendation are required. Pay attention to grammar, vocabulary, punctuation and spelling! The E.R. Andreen Nursing Scholarship will provide funding to current junior and senior grade level students pursuing an undergraduate degree in nursing. Recipients must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 and preference to students with financial need from FAFSA. The scholarship can be renewed for one additional year if awarded as a junior and criteria are met.

The Earl Family Music scholarship will provide funding for an incoming freshman student who has been accepted into the music program in the Fulton School and must fulfill the following: Preference to an incoming freshman, full-time student accepted by audition as a music major; scholarship is renewable at the discretion of the selection committee. Demonstrate merit through performance reviews (auditions). Preference given to those students who choose Music Technology Track. This scholarship requires an audition with the Department of Music and is not automatically renewed each year, must reapply. Contact the Music Department for additional details and requirement. This scholarship is awarded after the start of fall semester.

The Edward and Eysselle Croswell Scholarship will provide scholarship support for a student in good standing at Salisbury University in the Perdue School of Business, per the following criteria: a high school graduate of Somerset County, MD, preferably a resident of the Fairmount or Rumbly areas. If there are no qualified students from Somerset County, MD then a student from Worcester County, MD may be selected; a business major; junior or senior grade level and a 3.0 cumulative GPA or better. The scholarship may be renewed for a second year if awarded as a junior and the eligibility criteria continue to be maintained with a cumulative 3.0 GPA, eligible Perdue major and completion of 24 credits each year.

The Elizabeth Cannon Memorial Scholarship is awarded to students who have excelled academically in high school. Priority is given to a high school graduate (incoming freshman) with a genuine need for financial assistance from Caroline County, MD or the other eight Eastern Shore counties in Maryland. For consideration, students must apply for admission to the University by February 1st. The scholarship may be renewed for a maximum of four years, provided the student maintains a 3.3 cumulative grade point average each semester.

The scholarship program first began in 2011 thanks to the pioneering efforts of Eunice Sorin, a stellar businesswoman, philanthropist, and amazing woman who passed away in 2012, leaving a lasting impact on our local community. Eunice played an active role in the Ocean City and Berlin community, running a highly successful business that allowed her to become a generous sponsor and donor to many great causes. She spent her life in the service industry here in Ocean City, MD and made a bequest to the chamber with the stipulation that scholarships be given in her name. Eunice also fostered a sincere and lifelong interest in the well-being of our youth, education, and the importance of accessible opportunities for advancement in our local community. To that end, the Foundation strives to uphold the ideals established by Eunice by continuing to raise funds each year so that we can continue to award scholarships to deserving people in our community in her name. Each application is reviewed by a board of prominent business leaders that share in the Foundation’s mission. The applications are reviewed in a blind process against specific criteria. Since its inception, over $28,000 in scholarship money has been awarded to deserving community members – young men and woman that we are confident will continue along their successful path to becoming inspiring business leaders in our community. The Scholarship Program awards individuals who are either further pursuing professional development to advance their career and/or upgrading skills with intention to stay in the Eastern Shore area. This scholarship is open to those who wish to have, or continue a career in the following industry sectors: Agriculture, Aquaculture, Attractions/Recreation/Arts, Business, Hospitality, Medical/Emergency Services, Non-profit, and the Trades. Applicants must live or work in Worcester County. This scholarship is available to anyone currently employed by a local business in good standing with the Greater Ocean City Chamber of Commerce OR for those individuals looking to gain the skills and education to enter our community workforce. The Evelyn E. Johnson Scholarship is awarded to a incoming freshman student living in Dorchester County, MD who is majoring in education. The scholarship is renewable for the entire four-year period provided the student maintains the satisfactory academic progress standards developed by the Financial Aid Office and the Seidel School of Education and Professional Studies. The decision is made by the dean of the Seidel School.

The Baltimore Chapter of Financial Executives International has established the Mitch Halbrich Memorial Scholarship to award to one junior or senior grade level student in the Perdue School of Business. Students must be full-time, have a 3.0 cumulative GPA or better, have finanical need from the FAFSA. This is a non-renewable scholarship.

Salisbury University and the Salisbury Fire Department have announced a scholarship opportunity in support for the surviving legal dependents of fire and rescue personnel. Scholarships are awarded to surviving legal dependents of the 343 members of the New York City Fire Department killed in the line of duty on September 11, 2001, or any surviving dependent of a Maryland, Delaware, or Virginia fire/rescue member killed in the line of duty or; any dependent of an active, retired, or life members of the Salisbury Fire Department. Scholarships will be awarded to students attending Salisbury University either on a full or part-time basis, regardless of academic concentration. Scholarships will be offered on an annual basis, based on availability of funds, and are renewable. All undergraduate students may be recommended to apply to this scholarship opportunity because we do not filter any initial eligibility requirements on the General Application. The Florence Simonds & John B. May Scholarship is awarded to a Master of Education Reading Specialist candidate. Candidates must have been formally admitted to the REED program, completed at least 2 courses in the program and have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. The scholarship is awarded to candidates who evidence academic scholarship and a deep commitment to the teaching of Reading. Providing full elaborate responses to two open-ended questions will enhance your application.Applications will be reviewed and scholarship winners selected by the Scholarship Committee in the Department of Literacy Studies. Award notifications will occur mid-January.

The France-Merrick Foundation Scholarship has been established to help recruit students from Baltimore City, MD. Eligible students must have attended a Baltimore City high school (public, private or parochial) or transferred from Baltimore City Community College and be a resident of Baltimore City, MD. The scholarship can be renewed for up to 8 semesters if recipient meets the Satisfactory Academic Progress policy and remains enrolled full-time, degree-seeking.

The Franklin P. Perdue School of Business awards, on a competitive basis, a number of four-year scholarships based on outstanding scholastic achievement to incoming freshman. Applicants must be an incoming freshman, enrolled full-time with a major in the Perdue School of Business, high school GPA of 3.30 or higher, 1250 SAT/26 ACT or higher and submit written essay. Test optional admitted students must have at least a 3.7 HS GPA or better in order to apply. Recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or better grade point average, complete at least 30 credits per year and continue to pursue one of the majors in the Perdue School of Business for renewal.

The Gail R. Cartwright scholarship will be awarded to incoming and current undergraduate SU Students who have demonstrated financial need from FAFSA. The scholarship can be renewed for a maximum of 8 semesters total as long as Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) is met each semester.

The Garland D. and Vivian J. Bull Nursing Scholarship recognizes an academically gifted nursing student who has demonstrated financial need. Minimum qualifications are as follows: financial need as determined by the FAFSA and two letters of recommendation (at least one of which must be from a nursing faculty member).The Student Policies Committee selects recipients of the scholarship, awarded annually for the following academic year. Information is available from the Department of Nursing.

The Gary C. Gimbert Memorial Scholarship is a awarded to an incoming freshman Perdue School of Business student with a competitive SAT. Must be full-time. Renewal is for four years, pending availability of funds, as long as recipient maintains a major in the Perdue School, at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA and demonstrates financial need from FAFSA.

This scholarship is awarded to a 1st degree junior or senior level nursing major who demonstrates a sincere interest in caring for elders, as well as, a caring, compassionate and sensitive manner with older adults and their families. Minimum qualifications include demonstrating a high likelihood of successfully completing the nursing program and subsequently working with the geriatric population as a professional nurse. Those meeting the requirements must submit a scholarship application form and a letter of recommendation from a nursing faculty member verifying the student’s interest in geriatric nursing as a career. The Nursing Student Policies Committee selects the recipient each year. This scholarship can be renewed for a second year if awarded as a junior.

The George E. Miles scholarship will provide funding to full-time undergraduate students at Salisbury University. This scholarship requires that eligible students be degree seeking and meeting the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policy for financial aid. The scholarship is awarded as a one-year, non-renewable scholarship. Preference will be given to students who are junior or senior near completers and demonstrate financial need from the current FAFSA.

The George Summers Memorial Scholarship will provide financial support for students who have been accepted into the accounting major of the Perdue School of Business at Salisbury University. Students must be accepted into the accounting program at Salisbury University and must fulfill the following: full-time student accepted as an accounting major in the Perdue School; maintain a 3.5 cumulative GPA; preference will be given to those students who demonstrate financial need from the FAFSA.

The George Weide Jr. Scholarship will provide scholarship funding to a current student pursuing an undergraduate degree in history, with research at The Edward H. Nabb Research Center for Delmarva History and Culture. The recipient is selected by the History Department student honors and awards committee. Selection criteria include: full time enrollment (12 credits or more); minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA. Additionally, applicants must either: 1.) have completed and written a research essay using resources in the Edward H. Nabb Research Center for Delmarva History & Culture* (minimum 1,500 word essay) OR 2.) Have developed a research proposal including a comprehensive description of the research project, list of primary sources and detailed timeline of completion (minimum 400 word count outline). Current SU Students only need to complete either the research essay or research proposal and not both. *Completed research papers may be submitted from past Salisbury University courses or semesters.

The Gerald and Bette Jane Patt Scholarship is available to an incoming freshman majoring in theater. Applicants must have a 3.0 cumulative high school GPA. In addition applicants must submit a letter of recommendation from someone at the high school level that can attest to their abilities in theater. The recipient may qualify for scholarship renewal if appropriate academic standards, including a cumulative 3.0 GPA, are met. Contact the Department of Theater and Dance for more information.

The Gootee Scholarship will provide financial support for student scholarships and academic study to incoming or current students pursuing an undergraduate degree in the Department of Mathematical Sciences and the Department of Computer Science. All mathematics, computer science or data science majors are eligible for this scholarship. The committee will take into consideration the applicant’s cumulative GPA, major GPA, financial need from FAFSA, enthusiasm, work ethic and academic drive. This is a non-renewable scholarship.

This scholarship was established by the Hattie M. Strong Foundation for candidates who: are in their final year of study; have exhibited outstanding success and enthusiasm in field experience; demonstrate financial need; and have achieved a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA in the two semesters prior to their final year. Candidates must submit: (1) a statement on the attributes and experiences you will bring to the profession that define you as young educators of promise; and (2) a reference letter from your mentor teacher describing your strengths based on your field experience performance to the Scholarship /Awards Committee in the Seidel School of Education. The Heather Clair Miller Salisbury University Fund scholarship was created at The Pittsburgh Foundation to provide a four-year, renewable scholarship to at least two student recipients attending Salisbury University who meet minimum entrance requirements. The criteria are as follows: 1.) attend a high school as a graduating senior at/in Wicomico County, MD as the first preference for awarding. During a year that there are no eligible students from Wicomico County, MD, this scholarship may be awarded to graduating high school seniors from Worcester County, Dorchester County and Somerset County, MD. 2.) Have displayed special talent or interest in a particular field of study or activity. 3.) Demonstrate financial need. 4.) Plan to attend Salisbury University. 5.) Be involved in productive extracurricular and/or other activities outside of school which reflect an ordinary (typical) student who shows extraordinary self-discipline and motivation to goals larger than self. 6.) Preference will be given to students who may be challenged in their academic pursuits because of her rural and/or nigh need status.

The Staats Scholarship will provide funding to currently enrolled undergraduate students in the medical laboratory science program. Scholarships are renewable a maximum of 4 semesters if criteria are met. Students must be admitted to the upper division medical lab science courses with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. In addition, students must be from the Eastern Shore of MD in the follow counties: Talbot, Dorchester, Wicomico, Worcester, Somerset and Sussex County, DE.

As of midnight Thursday 2/24/22 ALL funding has been exhausted, NO NEW APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR SPRING 2022 The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 included additional COVID-19 relief through the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations (CRRSA) Act. This funding is available through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF III) created by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. Salisbury University has received additional Federal HEEFR III funding for the Spring 2022 semester. Application process will begin here on 2/7/22 and run for two weeks until 2/20/22 OR until all funding has been exhausted! Be advised that the application process may close prior to 2/20/22 if all funding has been exhausted for spring These emergency grants will assist currently enrolled (spring 2022) SU students experiencing financial hardships with expenses related to: Any component of your cost of attendance such as tuition, fees, food, housing, books and supplies, transportation and personal expenses. Other emergency cost or expenses that arise due to the Coronavirus, such as, but not limited to, computer and internet service, health care and child care. Who is Eligible for the SU Emergency HEERF III Grant? *A student must meet all criteria listed to qualify: *A student who is currently enrolled in an SU degree or certificate program for spring 2022 semester. The Howie Family Business Scholarship will provide scholarship funding to a full-time undergraduate student in good standing at Salisbury University, who has been admitted into the professional program in the Perdue School of Business. Special consideration will be given to students who demonstrate financial need from the FAFSA. This scholarship is renewable.

The Hunter Smith Athletic Training Scholarship is awarded to undergraduate students accepted for full time internship rotations with the SU Athletic Training Department. To be eligible, students must have completed a Foundations in Athletic Training class, a minimum of 30 observation hours, have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better and complete the required essay.

We promote the values of brotherhood, scholarship, service, leadership, and citizenship, all while helping to maintain healthy inter-fraternity relations. This award is designed to embody the value of scholarship within the chapters of IFC. In at least 1000 words, describe what it means to be a fraternity man. Consider what expectations you had prior to joining, why you opted to join a fraternity, and how your experience in your organization has molded you into a fraternity man. The Institute for Retired Persons (IRP) provides up to three Salisbury University students scholarships for the upcoming academic year. Minimum eligibility requirements include: full-time senior status for the upcoming award period; cumulative GPA 2.80; financial need from the FAFSA and short essay. Open to all majors. This is a non-renewable scholarship but you may reapply. The Institute for Retired Persons is designed for adults aged 50 and above and offers programs to enlighten, educate and promote a better understanding of our world. The members meet every Tuesday at 2 pm during the University’s fall and spring semesters at the Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art. Recipients of the scholarship will be invited to attend the first IRP meeting of the fall semester in September to be formally recognized by the organization. Selected recipients should make every effort to attend the IRP meeting in September.

J. Chapman McGrew was a professor in the Henson School who passed away unexpectedly. He left behind his passion and desire for aiding future geography and earth science students by setting up a scholarship. This Scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman with a declared major in Geography, Earth Science or Urban & Regional Planning with a 3.5 high school cumulative GPA or higher. Applicants must provide a personal statement describing the student’s background and interest in Geography, Earth Science and/or Urban & Regional Planning.

The SAFERIDE scholarship was created as a memorial to Danny Landsman, a student of Salisbury University. Eligible students can be from any undergraduate major, enrolled full-time with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or better. Additional information is available from the Office of Student Activities. This scholarship is only open to those students who work with Saferide.

The J. Edwin Tawes Memorial Scholarship provides a scholarship to one student annually from Somerset County, MD. Decisions, based on academic achievement. To be considered for the scholarship students must be enrolled full-time as an incoming freshman and have academic merit. Scholarship can be renewed as long as student maintains a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

The James Buss Honors College Scholarship will provide funding, with preference, to incoming freshman students and students from an under-represented group. Students must also be first generation college students to be eligible. The scholarship may be renewed for three additional years (4 years in total) as long as the recipient remains in good standing and in the Honors College.

The Kiefer Scholarship provides scholarship(s) to students who are graduates of Wicomico County high schools. Additional criteria include a cumulative 2.5 high school GPA and financial need from the FAFSA. This scholarship can be renewed if criteria are met.

The Jared Young Music Scholarship memorializes Jared who graduated from Salisbury University in 2011 and was a gifted guitarist and musician. The recipient of this scholarship will be recommended by the adjudicators of the students who have been accepted into the music program at Salisbury University by performance. The chosen student will have exceptional talent. First preference by audition will be a guitar music major. Student must demonstrate financial need from the FAFSA. The scholarship may be renewable if recipient is approved by the Co-Chair of Music and meets the criteria. Contact the Department of Music to arrange an audition.

The JMD Award will provide scholarships for students in the Fulton School of Liberal Arts. To be considered students must be an incoming freshman fine arts major, enrolled full-time with a 3.0 cumulative GPA or better and have demonstrated financial need from the FAFSA. Priority will be given to a student from the Eastern Shore of MD and VA as well as Sussex County, DE. This is a one-time only scholarship, non-renewable.

The Joann and Chester Fritts Scholarship is awarded on an annual basis to an incoming or current Salisbury University student who is a resident of Wicomico, Worcester, Somerset, or Accomack VA counties. Student must be enrolled full-time, have a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher and must demonstrate financial need from FAFSA. Preference given if the student attends Immanual Baptist, Christ United Methodist, St. Francis De Sales or Beth Israel Synagogue – all in Salisbury. This is a non-renewable scholarship.

The John K. Knowles Foreign Study Scholarship was established by Dr. John Knowles (SU Spanish faculty 1971-1997) in order to expand study abroad opportunities for students studying a foreign language at SU. This scholarship expands study abroad opportunities for students studying a foreign language at Salisbury University. Students must be at the sophomore rank or above, provide evidence of financial need from FAFSA and submit an application which describes their personal and academic goals and how they will be met by a study abroad experience. Preference will be given to study abroad experiences that will fulfill academic requirements foreign language majors and minors. They are further expected to participate in related departmental activities upon their return to campus. The number of scholarships will vary, depending on the availability of funds. Scholarship recipients are encouraged to keep the Knowles fund alive by donating to the Knowles Scholarship Fund through the Salisbury University Foundation in the future. The Joseph and Anna G. Seidel Scholarship provides financial assistance to students from the lower Eastern Shore, MD (Wicomico, Worcester and Somerset counties) who are members of either the Beth Israel Congregation in Salisbury, MD or the Bat Yam Congregation in Ocean City, MD (first preference). First consideration for funding is also given to an incoming freshman. Additional eligibility requirements include: 3.0 cumulative high school GPA, ranking in the top 25% of the high school class and enrollment for a minimum of 15 credits per semester at Salisbury University. A recipient may retain the scholarship for a maximum of 4 years provided he/she has a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average at Salisbury University and has successfully completed 15 credit hours per term. Interested students should contact the Financial Aid Office and provide documentation certifying their affiliation with one of the above congregations if applicable. Scholarship may be canceled if the 15 credit per semester requirement is not fulfilled. This Mulligan scholarship was created to provide scholarship opportunities to a student in the Henson School of Science & Technology for the following majors: Physics, Biology, Computer Science, Data Science or Mathematics. Students must have financial need from the FAFSA. Open to any grade level, preference to current students, and may be renewed if student continues to meet scholarship criteria and funding is available.

The Justin McJilton Memorial Scholarship was established to provide a fitting and meaningful memorial to Justin McJilton. Justin was an active student at Salisbury University in the Perdue School of Business. He was an avid supporter and fundraiser for the American Cancer Society and twice co-chaired the Salisbury University Relay for Life. Justin passed away in 2009 at the age of 23 from complications associated with leukemia. To honor his memory, the scholarship was established to provide support for current students whose lives have been touched by cancer. The scholarship will be awarded to a current student of promise at Salisbury University who has a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 and is enrolled full-time. This scholarship is open to any undergraduate major at SU. A 250 word essay is required describing how your life has been touched by cancer. This is a non-renewable scholarship opportunity.

The Justin Shen Endowment for International Studies majors is a stipend given annually each fall to assist in covering the cost of a study abroad experience during the following calendar year. The scholarship decision is based on cumulative GPA, an application essay, and financial need from FAFSA.

As part of the Justin Y. Shen Endowment at Salisbury University there will be two awards made each spring as part of the Shen Political Science Award and the Shen International Studies Award. Each of these awards will recognize an outstanding graduating senior in their respective major of study. Award recipients must be a political science or international studies major with at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Additional information can be obtained from the department. The K & L Microwave, Inc. Scholarship Program at Salisbury University provides scholarship funding to junior and senior level students majoring in math, computer science, data science, physics, chemistry or information systems. Students must be full-time and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. The scholarship program provides $3,000 in funding for both the junior and senior year with a 20 hour per week, 10-week paid internship with K & L Microwave, Inc. during the summer between the junior and senior year. The paid internship provides an additional $3,000 in funding making the full benefit of the program $9,000 per recipient. The selection process for the scholarship is handled through the Henson School of Science and Technology. The Kathryn Washburn Scholarship provides a scholarship to an incoming freshman student from Washington High School in Princess Anne, MD who has evidenced high ability for academic achievement through the SAT and has financial need from the FAFSA. The recipient is selected by the Admissions and Financial Aid offices. The scholarship can be renewed if the recipient maintains a cumulative 2.0 GPA, meets Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).

The KatzAbosch Accounting Scholarship will provide funding to an accounting major who demonstrates academic excellence based on completion of a minimum of 9 credits hours of accounting coursework at Salisbury University. Preference will be given to students with financial need from the FAFSA. This is a non-renewable scholarship.

The Lawrence H. and Thelma H. Ey Memorial Scholarship will provide financial support to a freshman, sophomore or junior level student who meets the following criteria: full-time undergraduate with intent to declare or current major in Business, Nursing or Education; minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher/freshman applicants minimum high school GPA of 3.00 or higher; Essay on the topic – Please explain why you believe you should receive this scholarship and why did you chose your major? The scholarship can be renewed for two additional years (6 semesters total) if eligibility criteria continue to be met.

Dr. Leland Starnes served as Director of the Salisbury State Theatre from 1972 to 1980. The Leland Starnes Scholarship will provide funding to current and future students in the Fulton School of Liberal Arts. It will be granted to a theatre major who has demonstrated promise in growth as an artist, whose pursuit of excellence is foremost and whose habits reflect professionalism. Eligible students must be full-time sophomore or junior with a declared theater major, cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, demonstrate merit through performance review and provide a personal statement describing the student’s background and participation in theatre. Scholarships are one-time non-renewable.

The LeRoy P. Fiala Scholarship in the College of Health and Human Services will provide scholarship funding to incoming graduate student(s) enrolled in the College of Health and Human Services meeting the following criteria: first generation college student; preference give to a graduate student enrolled in the Master in Athletic Training; preference give to a student with the greatest financial need from FAFSA. Scholarship is awarded as non-renewable, one time only.

The Lucy Tull Scholarship provides funding for students pursuing degrees in medically related fields. Scholarships may include full funding for tuition, room, board, books and fees and are renewable throughout the student’s undergraduate studies for eight semesters. Freshman applicants, upper class transfer students from Wor-Wic Community College and current first degree Salisbury University students who are permanent residents of Wicomico, Worcester, or Somerset County, MD are eligible for consideration. Candidates must have a required major within College of Health and Human Services or the Henson School and pursue a career in nursing, clinical laboratory science, respiratory therapy, or be planning on a career in medicine, dentistry, physical therapy, optometry, pharmacy, public health or other health care professions. Candidates may also be a Biology or Chemistry Secondary Education major. Priority will be given to those studying Nursing. Tull Scholarship recipients are not guaranteed acceptance into professional programs that require formal admission. The Mannion Scholarship Endowment will provide a scholarship for a student in the Master of Social Work program at Salisbury University. Recipients must be full-time enrolled in the 2 year master of social work program at the main campus of Salisbury University; must demonstrate financial need from FAFSA; preference given to a Somerset County, MD resident then a Wicomico or Worcester County, MD resident. Students enrolled at various satellite program locations are not eligible for this scholarship. This scholarship can be renewed for a second year if criteria are met and funding is available.

The Marchan R. Ball Memorial Award in History and Social Sciences Education at Salisbury University will be awarded to a future teacher of promise majoring in history or social science education at the Senior class status. Preference given to a student from Dorchester County, Maryland. The award should be used for the graduating student to purchase instruction materials for their first classroom in teaching.

The Margaret Johnson Elmore Nursing Scholarship recognizes academically gifted pre-nursing/nursing majors who demonstrate potential for professional nursing leadership and service. Criteria for eligibility are “scholastic ability” first and “financial need” second. Recipients must maintain an Salisbury University GPA of 2.5 each academic year. Priority is given first to full-time freshman pre-nursing majors (recipients must be granted and accept admission to the nursing program for the first semester of their junior year to maintain scholarship eligibility; receipt of said scholarship does not ensure admission to the nursing program); second to full-time junior nursing majors admitted to the nursing program; and third to full-time senior nursing majors in the final year of the nursing program. The committee awards scholarships annually for up to four years. Information is available from the Department of Nursing. Candidates must be from Accomack or North Hampton counties in VA. A HS GPA of 3.0 is required to be eligible as well as academic merit.

The Marie A. Cavallaro Art scholarship is meant to recognize student leadership and involvement, specifically in the visual arts. The applicant must be a full time Art major, with a 3.0 or better GPA. The applicant will submit a portfolio of student work, and a personal statement describing his or her background and participation in art. The student must also provide evidence of using art in a leadership or volunteer role on campus or in the community. one letter or recommendation speaking to this leadership or volunteer activity required. This is a non-renewable scholarship but students can reapply each year.

This Calafiura scholarship is awarded to an accounting major for his/her final one or two semesters of study. The student must have completed, or be in the process of completing at time of application, the following courses: 2 principles courses, 2 intermediate courses, and 1 elective accounting course. The student must maintain a minimum of a 2.8 overall cumulative GPA, with a minimum 3.0 GPA in all accounting courses. The most recent completed semester’s GPA will be utilized. Interested applicants must apply to obtain consideration for this scholarship.

The Marilyn Seidel Nursing Scholarship recognizes an academically gifted nursing student who has demonstrated outstanding potential for nursing leadership and service. Minimum qualifications include the following: cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher; nursing major; a self-evaluation of potential for professional leadership and service; and three letters of recommendation, at least one of which must be from a nursing faculty member. The Student Policies Committee selects recipients of the scholarship, awarded for up to two years. Information is available from the Department of Nursing.

The Marshall Moore Scholarship’s purpose is to create a scholarship in perpetuity for a student with financial need from FAFSA. Preference is given to non-traditional students who will be a junior or senior grade level for the upcoming academic year. Eligible students must submit, via the SU Scholarship Website – Academic Works, a letter of recommendation from a Salisbury University faculty member along with a biographical essay, 250-300 words, which includes their activities while at Salisbury University and plans for the future. The scholarship may be continued for senior year if recipients maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA.

The Martin S. Kane Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to an incoming freshman undergraduate resident of Wicomico County, MD. This scholarship is awarded as a one time only scholarship and will not be renewed. Award amount may vary each year based on funding allocations. Other factors that will be considered include high school GPA and standardized test scores.

Mary Ann Reinhold-Praley was a teacher/administrator for 30 years in the Maryland public school system. The purpose of this scholarship provides funding for books and other expenses incurred by students who are admitted in the Teacher Education program and subsequently will be teaching in the Maryland public school system. Eligible students must be in good standing in the Seidel School for Education and must meet the following criteria: teacher education major, cumulative 3.0 GPA or better and financial need from FAFSA. This is a one-time scholarship.

The Mary Connor nursing scholarship fund will provide financial support for students pursing a degree in the Nursing Department of Salisbury University. The benefits to the student population and institution will be perpetual. Requirements for Scholarship: Students must be accepted into the Nursing Program at Salisbury University and must fulfill the following criteria: Full time student undergraduate, Declared nursing major and a Graduate of Worcester County public schools. May be renewed one additional year if awarded as a junior and criteria are met.

The Mary L. Nock Memorial Scholarship provides $1,000 to a student who has excelled academically. Renewal of the scholarship for three additional years is based on maintaining a 3.3 cumulative GPA or better. The Music Ensemble Scholarship is available to students at Salisbury University. An audition is required.

The Fulton School of Liberal Arts, Department of Music, offers scholarships each fall and spring semester to students wanting to have some fun singing or playing their instrument in a music ensemble. The Department of Music currently has five large ensembles to choose from and they are open to any student with prior musical experience. All majors from any discipline are eligible for these scholarships provided they agree to remain enrolled in the course and complete all requirements for the duration of the semester. Scholarships will be decided based on an audition. Students interested in applying should contact the Department of Music for additional information.

The Wallops Electrical Engineering Branch at Wallops Flight Facility (WFF) is responsible for the conception, analysis, design, development, validation, and implementation of flight electrical/electronics, communications and tracking, and electrical ground support systems for our missions, projects, and technology initiatives. WFF is seeking motivated accomplished students who can juggle multiple assignments, learn quickly, remain flexible and communicate well for a 10-week summer internship. The specific project activities will be determined closer to the start of the internship. Prior internship projects have included optimization of engineering tools and applications, brainstorming solutions to difficult problems, digital design, development of electronic schematics and drawings, antenna testing, support of rocket launch activities, integration and ground testing of major flight hardware, and data analysis. Often project work will span a range of design, analysis, fabrication, and test arena during the internship.

The Nathan Foundation was created following the instructions in the will of Milford Nathan, who died in 1953. Known for his business acumen, Milford Nathan also was a civic leader. For many years, he was chairman of the board for the Cambridge Hospital, an active Mason and chairman of the board for the Farmers and Merchants National Bank. Later the foundation was supported further from the estates of Estelle Nathan, Milford’s wife who died in 1960, and Bertha Nathan, Milford’s sister who passed away in 1983. The Nathan Foundation is by far the largest charitable organization in Dorchester County and is permanently funded for the foreseeable future. Nathan scholarship is awarded by Nathan Foundation out of Cambridge, MD. Scholarship application information is available from local high schools in Dorchester County, MD. The scholarship is available for up to 8 semesters as long as the student is meeting the Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements.

The Music Department offers the Nettie C. Bentley Scholarships which are available, on a competitive basis, to students who are accepted or previously enrolled as candidates for the B.A. in music at Salisbury University. Scholarships are awarded annually. To qualify for consideration, applicants must have previously auditioned according to the Music Department requirements for the B.A. degree. Evidence of academic achievement is assessed through evaluation of applicants’ high school or college/university transcripts. The deadlines coincide with the deadline for department entrance auditions or March 14th, whichever comes first. Students may reapply annually.

The Nina Dixon Chatham Endowment will provide a scholarship to incoming or current SU student(s) pursuing an undergraduate degree, meeting the following criteria: A first-generation college student; a graduate of James M. Bennett High School; and prioritized by highest academic achievement or potential. The scholarship can be renewed for a maximum of 8 semesters (4 years) provided the eligible student maintain full-time enrollment and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

The Nutter J. Wimbrow III Veterans Scholarship will provide support in the form of a scholarship to honorably discharged veterans of the US Armed Forces or the children of veterans of the US Armed Forces who were wounded or killed in action. Applicant must be either an honorably discharged veteran of the US Armed Forces or the child of a veteran of the US Armed Forces who was wounded or killed in action. Must have financial need from the FAFSA and maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress for renewal.

The Nutter J. Wimbrow Math Scholarship will provide scholarship support to a student pursuing a degree in math at Salisbury University. The recipient must be a sophomore of the upcoming academic year, math major, demonstrated financial need from the FAFSA and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. This scholarship is non-renewable.

For the Orpha Lee Rommel Scholarship for Education, the student must be in good standing in the Seidel School of Education and must fulfill the following criteria: teacher education major, cumulative 3.0 GPA; financial need from FAFSA, preference is given to a student from the Lower Eastern Shore Counties (Wicomico, Worceser or Somerset). Awards are renewable for up to four academic years as long a criteria is met.

The Oscar “Whitey” Ruppert Rommel Scholarship will provide funding to a matriculated student at the junior or senior grade level at Salisbury University, with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or better, who is either active military or a veteran. Preference will be given to a Perdue School of Business student and/or a student with an interest in entrepreneurship. Eligible students, who are veteran status, must upload a copy of their DD214 as part of the application process for this scholarship. Active Military status will be confirmed with the VA Office at Salisbury University.

P.E.O International Peace Scholarship Fund was established in 1949 and provides scholarships for selected international women for graduate study in the US and Canada. Applicants: 1. Must be women from countries other than the US and Canada 2. Will be working toward a full time graduate degree 3. Will be enrolled and in residence for the entire school year of the scholarship. 4. Promise to return to their countries within 60 days of completion of their degree to pursue their professional career. 5. Do not need to be enrolled at the time of application. 6. The PATH Scholarship Program, sponsored by the Ellucian Foundation, will provide financial assistance to currently enrolled sophomore, junior and senior grade level students, who are enrolled full-time for fall 2021 semester and are experiencing a recent economic hardship that may prevent them from completing the academic year. Eligible students must be in good academic standing and have financial need from the current FAFSA. Funding is limited on this scholarship and not all students who apply will be awarded.

Funding for the Paul Hishmeh scholarship comes from the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore. To be considered for this scholarship the student must be a full-time junior or senior grade level with a Political Science major and a resident of Wicomico County, MD. If there are no eligible recipients from Wicomico County, other MD counties may be considered. This scholarship is non-renewable.

The Pauline and Shirley T. Smith Scholarship is awarded to students who have demonstrated academic excellence and have secured gainful employment to defray a portion of the cost of their education. This scholarship program is administered through a collaborative effort between the Mid-Shore Community Foundation (MSCF) and Salisbury University, Chesapeake College and the University of Maryland, College Park. The scholarship is granted with preference to graduates of the following named public school systems in descending order of preference: Talbot County, Caroline County and Dorchester County. Continuation of the scholarship is dependent upon the recipient maintaining full-time enrollment and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. The scholarship may be awarded for up to eight semesters depending on student classification at the time of first award. The scholarship is designed to fund a student’s cost of attendance including: tuition, fees , room, board and books less any other free sources of financial aid for up to eight semesters, pending funding availability. The Pearl Family Inspirational Scholarship was created to reward students who have stood firm in the face of adversity; who have demonstrated the necessary grit and determination to overcome obstacles of all kinds while doggedly pursuing a teaching credential. That is the path the scholarship’s namesake followed and is the standard by which all aspirants will be evaluated. An applicant’s persistence, resilience, good humor and steadfastness will be emphasized as much as his/her academic performance if not more so during the selection process. Students must be in good standing at Salisbury University and accepted into the Teacher Education program, Must be a high school graduate of either Worcester or Somerset County, Maryland. If there are no qualified applicants from either Worcester or Somerset County, applicants may be selected from either Cecil or Wicomico County, Maryland; Education major; Junior or Senior status; 2.75 grade point average or better; Must have financial need from the FAFSA; Each applicant must prepare a 400-500 word essay describing the challenge(s) he/she has experienced and how working through these challenges impacted his/her academic performance and decision to enter the teaching profession. The essay should highlight inspirational experiences and events. Applicants are encouraged to discuss in their essays those seminal moments in their lives when they faced major turning points; what inspired them to keep going or pursue a different path? In particular, how did overcoming the challenges they faced impact their lives and how might they use their own experiences to inspire their own students once they start teaching.

The Penelope Jarman Memorial Scholarship is awarded to an early childhood education major. Applicants must be a junior grade level of the upcoming academic year, be enrolled full-time, have financial need from the FAFSA and have a 2.75 cumulative GPA. The Education Scholarships/Awards Committee selects recipients of the scholarship in March for the following academic year.

The Peninsula Insurance Companies Scholarship will provide financial assistance to a high achieving student in the Perdue School of Business. To be considered for this scholarship students must meet the following criteria: Junior or senior grade level with a declared major in the Perdue School of Business, have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, have demonstrated financial need (FAFSA on file). This scholarship is a one-time award and is non-renewable.

The Pepsi Start Strong scholarship is awarded to incoming freshman on the basis of academic success and financial need. Incoming freshman eligibility is based on a 3.0 high school GPA or better and preference to students with financial need evidenced by the FAFSA. Eligible students must remain enrolled full-time and maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA for continued eligibility.

The Perdue School of Business General Scholarship will be awarded as a one-time non-renewable scholarship based on the following criteria: enrolled full time in the Perdue School of Business; undergraduate junior or senior grade level; financial need from FAFSA and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater.

The Student Business Leader Scholarship, created by the Perdue School of Business Leaders Alumni, will provide funding for a current junior or senior grade level student in the Perdue School of Business. Students must be in good standing, enrolled full time, be a current PSB Student Business Leader, 3.3 cumulative GPA or better and submit an essay of no more than 500 words which includes information about service, leadership roles, extracurricular activities, other awards and honors and why they should be selected. The scholarship can be renewed for one additional year if awarded to a junior and eligibility criteria are met.

The local chapter of Phi Eta Sigma awards scholarships to local members who have shown outstanding academic performance and have contributed significantly to the goals of the local chapter. Information is available from the Provost’s Office. This scholarship is awarded after the start of fall semester each year.

The Pohanka of Salisbury International Business Scholarship provides funding for current Salisbury University students in the Franklin P. Perdue School of Business to supplement the cost of their full semester international study abroad program or short term international study abroad program for the upcoming winter, spring or summer semesters . To be considered eligible students must meet the following criteria: Enrolled full-time with a declared business major, cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, submit an essay of 500 or less summarizing their expectations and goals as it related to their study abroad program. This is a one-time scholarship and is non-renewable. Those who apply during spring semester can use the scholarship for a summer or fall abroad program and those who apply in the fall semester can use the scholarship for a winter, spring or summer abroad program.

The Presidential Scholarship is available to entering freshmen at Salisbury University. You must have a minimum SAT score of 1875, a minimum GPA of 3.3 and a record of participation and leadership in extracurricular activities. You must also offer talent in the arts, leadership qualities or diversity to be eligible for this award.

The Prince Family Scholarship will provide a scholarship for a first generation student (defined as at least one parent not being a college attendee or graduate as indicated by FAFSA). Eligible students must be an incoming freshman for the upcoming academic year, have financial need from FAFSA, show evidence of being a first generation student and preference given to a student who comes from a rural background, as defined by federal and state guidelines. Can be renewed for a total of 8 semesters (4 years total) so long as the student continues to meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress policy.

Student must be in good standing in the Perdue School of Business and must meet the following criteria: currently enrolled full-time in the Perdue School of Business, preference to a business administration major, cumulative 2.5 GPA or better, financial need from FAFSA. This is a one-time scholarship.

The R. Neill & Nancy Carey Scholarship will provide a renewable scholarship to incoming and current students pursuing an undergraduate degree, meeting the following criteria: majoring in a program in Health Sciences and prioritized by highest academic achievement or potential. The scholarship requires full time enrollment and can be renewed so long as the recipient remains in a health science major and continues to meet academic progress. Undergraduate Health Science majors include Community Health, Exercise Science, Medical Laboratory Science and Respiratory Therapy.

The Ratcliffe Entrepreneurial Excellence Scholarship will provide scholarships to students who have graduated from a community college receiving support from the Ratcliffe Foundation (Anne Arundel Community College, Community College of Baltimore County (including Essex campus), Harford Community College, Dabney S. Lancaster Community College or Eastern Shore Community College), be admitted to and in good standing at Salisbury University, and fulfill the following criteria: Full-time enrollment, majoring in any academic discipline and minoring in Entrepreneurship; have a transfer GPA or current GPA of 2.50 or better; students must demonstrate commitment to entrepreneurship through participation in the entrepreneurship activities directed and sponsored by the Perdue School of Business. Recipients will be encouraged to participate in the Entrepreneurship Competition and Shore Hatchery and in regional and community sponsored events such as Launch SBY. In addition it is expected that the student join the Collegiate Entrepreneurship Organization and plan to take a leadership role in addition to being a student ambassador of entrepreneurship in the academic and business community. The scholarship can be renewed for one additional year if above criteria are satisfied. Scholarship funds may only be used for tuition, room, board and books.

The Reilly Family International Internship Scholarship will be awarded to students who meet the following criteria: must be full-time undergraduate, degree seeking student who is eligible to earn credits through an international internship in either their junior or senior year; must be a Maryland resident; must be academically eligible to earn credits for an international internship according to the standards established by the student’s academic major or minor; must demonstrate financial need from FAFSA. Scholarship application will be open Dec 1 to May 30 for use during the upcoming academic year of fall, winter, spring or summer abroad.

The Rena Urie Fowler Memorial Scholarship is available to an undergraduate student from Kent County, MD with second priority to a student from Queen Anne’s County, MD. Students must be full-time, in good academic standing and demonstrate financial need from FAFSA. This scholarship can be renewed if Satisfactory Academic Progress is maintained as well as full time enrollment.

The Richard L. Nelson Memorial Scholarship is available to an outstanding undergraduate student from Prince George’s County, MD majoring in Elementary Education in the Seidel School of Education. Must be full-time, in good standing with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and have financial need from FAFSA. This scholarship can be renewed for one additional year if awarded as a junior and criteria are met.

The Rick Dudley Scholarship Fund for Graduate Students with Disabilities is available to students at Salisbury University.

Dr. Dombrowski was a long time member of the account faculty in the Perdue School. He was the advisor of Beta Alpha Psi, led the School’s Study Abroad program and created a unique Audit Internship course for his students. In 2008, he was awarded the University of Maryland Board of Regents Award for Excellence in mentoring. This scholarship will provide financial support for students who have been accepted into the accounting program in the Perdue School of Business at SU. To be eligible students must enroll as a full-time in the Accounting program in the Perdue School of Business, be a junior or senior grade level for the upcoming school year, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better and demonstrate financial need from the FAFSA. Additional information is available from the Accounting Department/Dean’s Office in the Perdue School.

This scholarship was established by Robert L. Sawyer and Janet A. Walsek for students majoring in the Henson School of Science and Technology who have also made contributions to the life and activities within the Department of Music. To be considered for this scholarship students must meet the following criteria: Enrolled full-time in one of the following majors: : biological sciences, chemistry, geoscience, mathematics, computer science, data science or physics, cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher, Successfully completed their freshman year as a major in one of the above mentioned disciplines, Must be a performing member of the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra, Salisbury Jazz Ensemble or Salisbury Concert Band each semester. Preference will be given to students recognized by the Department of Music for outstanding musicianship. This scholarship is not renewable but students can reapply. The Department of Music scholarship committee in the Fulton School will select recipient.

The National Science Foundation (NSF) is partnering with SU to produce more mathematics and science teachers to meet one of our country’s critical needs. Noyce scholarships prepare SU STEM majors to become exemplary middle and high school teachers. Noyce scholarships provide $10,000 for junior year and another $10,000 for senior year to complete SU’s professional teacher education program and program enhancement activities. Renewal eligibility requires a cumulative 3.0 GPA each semester, financial need from FAFSA and remaining in an eligible major. For additional renewal requirements please contact the Department. Scholarship recipients must agree to teach in a high-need school for two years for each year of scholarship funding received. The purpose of this gift shall be to provide a fitting and meaningful memorial to Tabitha Parker Fondes, devoted mother and nurse. This fund will provide scholarships for current and future generations of nursing students at Salisbury University. This scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student accepted in the Nursing program with a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher. The scholarship can be renewed one additional year if the student maintains a 2.75 cumulative GPA or higher and remains full-time.

Robert Schultheis was a member of the Class of 2000 and a two-term president of the SU Alumni Association who passed away in the fall of 2015. This scholarship will honor his memory and commitment to Salisbury University. To be considered for this scholarship, students must be an incoming full-time freshman with a high school cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better and a competitive SAT of 1250 or higher/ACT of 25 or higher. The scholarship can be renewed as long as the criteria are met and funding is available.

The Demarest Honors Biology Scholarship will provide a student support in the form of a scholarship to: an Honors College student with a Biology major; a second year sophomore grade level student; demonstrated financial need from the FAFSA; and be a resident of the state of Maryland. This scholarship can be renewed if criteria are still meet for up to two additional years.

Rochelle M. Clarke is a graduate of the Perdue School of Business at Salisbury University and has established two distinct scholarships to provide financial assistance for high achieving students majoring in business related fields. The recipient of each of the scholarships must be admitted as a full time undergraduate student to the Perdue School of Business at a junior or senior grade level, have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and the domestic student must demonstrate financial need from FAFSA. First priority for the domestic recipient must also be matriculated into the Glenda Chatham & Robert G. Clarke Honors College. Second priority for the domestic recipient will be a declared double major both majors being in the Perdue School. Third priority for the domestic recipient will be a declared double major with at least one major being in the Perdue School. The international recipient must be admitted as an international student with first priority to a student with a major in the Perdue School and matriculated in the Honors College. Second priority for the international recipient will be to a student with a declared double major with both majors being in the Perdue School. Third priority for the international recipient will be to a student with any Perdue School major. Both scholarships will be awarded for $750 for the academic year. This is a non-renewable scholarship.

The Ryan K. McDowell Memorial Scholarship is available to junior and senior students at Salisbury University. You must be majoring in art with a concentration in three - dimensional art, and have a minimum 2.5 GPA to be eligible for this award.

The Ryan K. McDowell Memorial Scholarship is available to junior or senior Art majors with a concentration in three-dimensional art form: hot glass, sculpture, or ceramics. Must have a cumulative 2.5 GPA or better, preference will be given to those with financial need from FAFSA. Additional information is available from the Art Department. Recipient is selected in the fall for that current fall semester

The S.P. Baker Scholarships will provide one scholarship per year for an incoming freshman Geography, Earth Science or Urban & Regional Planning major in the Henson School. It will recognize the student’s academic achievements, leadership and involvement specifically in the fields of Geography, Earth Science and/or Urban & Regional Planning. This is a non-renewable scholarship.

The Salisbury Rotary Club scholarship is awarded annually for students pursuing a major in the Perdue School of Business. Renewal for succeeding years, pending availability of funds, is based on continuing in the Perdue School major and maintaining a cumulative 3.0 or better GPA. Student must be an incoming freshman that has graduated from a high school in Wicomico, Worcester, Somerset or Dorchester counties in MD, competitive SAT/ACT required. Financial need required from FAFSA.

Student must be enrolled in MUSA 105, enrolled in private string lessons with SU Faculty, willing to maintain the following: maintain an A in MUSA 105; have good attendance and punctuality (arrive 10 minutes early) in MUSA 105; perform in all concerts associated with MUSA 105; participate in one community service activity to be determined by Drs. Schoyen and Murasugi. Eligible students must be enrolled full-time.

The Seidel Endowment Scholarship fund was established to assist students from a disadvantaged background or a non-traditional student in Teacher Education. Students must have financial need from the FAFSA. Can be renewed if a student meets satisfactory academic progress(SAP) 2.0 cumulative GPA and remains enrolled full-time as an education major.

The Sarah Foxwell Memorial Scholarship was established to provide scholarships for current and future generations of students majoring in Social Work in memory of Sarah Foxwell. Requirements for consideration include demonstrated financial need, a cumulative 3.0 GPA (high school GPA if awarded as an incoming freshman) and pursuance of a degree in Social Work. Residents of Wicomico County are given first priority for funding followed by residency within the state of Maryland. Scholarships are renewable for up to four years provided the recipient continues to meet the eligibility requirements.

The Sea Gull Century and Salisbury University have enjoyed a valuable partnership for 20 years. In recognition and appreciation of this relationship, the Sea Gull Century commits to the annual funding of the Sea Gull Century Scholarship Fund at Salisbury University. Students applying for this scholarship must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA at Salisbury University, be involved in the Sea Gull Century and provide a written reflection, 500 word maximum, of the Sea Gull Century experience. This scholarship application will become available each year right after the Sea Gull Century is held and remain open for one month.

The Seidel Scholars Program in Education scholarships were established to aid in the recruitment, admission and retention of incoming freshman students in the Seidel School of Education. Incoming students must have a declared major in the Seidel School of Education, 3.3 cumulative high school GPA, 1250 SAT/26 ACT and submission of a written essay. Test optional admitted students must have at least a 3.7 HS GPA or better in order to apply. Scholarships may be renewed up to eight semesters, provided the performance standards of the scholarships are maintained including full-time enrollment, major in the Seidel School of Education and have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or better.

The Seidel Wicomico High School Scholarship in Education was established by the generosity of Samuel Seidel. This scholarship gives preference to students who are four-year graduates of Wicomico High School and declare a major in education. The recipient may continue to receive this scholarship provided they maintain a 2.5 GPA and full-time enrollment as an education major. The Seidel School Scholarship Committee will select the recipient.

The purpose of this award is to recognize outstanding scholarship by qualified graduate nursing students who will advance knowledge in the area of nursing science and practice. Minimum qualifications included: active RN unencumbered license; currently enrolled in an accredited graduate nursing program, having completed at least 1/4 of the curriculum; demonstrate superior scholastic achievements with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better; preference given to Sigma Theta Tau members, all other attributes being equal. If applicant is enrolled in a graduate program outside of SU, then a copy of one’s official transcripts of graduate study/coursework completed thus far must be submitted to confirm credits completed and cumulative GPA.

This award is established to recognize outstanding scholarship by qualified nurses and or nursing students that will advance knowledge in the area of nursing science and practice. Minimum qualifications include: superior scholastic ability with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better; rank in the upper 35% of the graduating class; must be a full-time 1st degree or 2nd degree nursing student and completed at least one semester of the upper level required nursing courses in the baccalaureate curriculum.

The Smoot Memorial Scholarship is available to an incoming freshman student who has graduated from a Sussex County, DE high school. Eligible students have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 or higher and an SAT of 1,000 or better. The scholarship can be renewed if funding is available and the recipient maintains a 2.50 cumulative GPA and completes 24 credits an academic year.

Sixteen scholarships are available on a competitive basis for first-year freshman students entering Salisbury University. Eligibility is determined by high school GPA, SAT/ACT scores and other metrics. To be considered eligible for a STEM scholarship a minimum 1250 SAT/26 ACT is required as well as a 3.30 high school cumulative GPA. An essay is required as well. Students admitted as test optional with at least a 3.7 HS GPA can also be considered. STEM majors include: Biology, Biology/Environmental Science dual degree, Chemistry, Computer Science, Data Science, Earth Science, Geography, Information Systems (Perdue School), Mathematics, Physics and Physics/Engineering dual degree. These scholarships can be awarded in addition to other merit scholarships. Students who are admitted without a standardized test score but have at least a 3.7 H.S. GPA will also be able to apply. Please do not apply to the STEM scholarship if you do not have a STEM major, minors are not considered for eligibility. You will not be considered if you do not meet minimum qualifications and are not recommended to apply to the STEM scholarship on your personalized dashboard.

This Stephen G. Hardy Scholarship will provide funding for a Salisbury University student pursuing any undergraduate degree. Students must fulfill the following criteria to be eligible: be a resident of the state of Maryland; demonstrate financial need from the FAFSA; have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better; and enroll full-time each semester. Applicants will be prioritized by the highest academic potential and achievement. This scholarship can be renewed for a total of 8 semesters (4 years) as long the student continues to meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress policy.

The StratWealth Financial Planning Scholarship will provide funding to a full-time undergraduate student who has been admitted to the Perdue School of Business majoring in finance and a financial planning track. Candidate must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. Special consideration will be given to students who have financial need from the FAFSA.

The Art Department offers a limited number of scholarships each year with opportunity to renew the following year. Available to full-time incoming freshman or transfer students with a declared Art major, may be renewed based on availability of funds. Must have been a recipient of the Art Department Scholarship as an incoming freshman or transfer student. Renewal applications must be made up of new work completed since previous portfolio submission.

The SU Study Abroad Scholarship will be awarded twice per year, once for summer/fall and once for winter/spring semesters. Recipients are determined by a combination of cumulative GPA, application essay and demonstrated financial need from FAFSA. Study abroad program must be approved by the Janet Dudley-Eshbach Center for International Education. Students must have also applied and been accepted to the study abroad program. Application process is open June 1 to October 15 for a scholarship to be used during the upcoming winter, spring or summer abroad program only.

The Taylor Goetzke Scholarship was established to provide scholarship funding to an incoming student from Broadneck High School in Annapolis, MD in memory of Taylor Goetzke. The recipient must demonstrate financial need from FAFSA. The scholarship is renewable for a total of four years provided the recipient maintains a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA at Salisbury University.

The Teacher Education General Scholarship fund helps to support deserving students with an declared education major (junior or senior). Minimum eligibility requirements are: full-time education major and cumulative GPA of 2.75 or better. Scholarships are awarded as one-time only and are not renewable, although you can reapply each year.

The Buchanan Family Scholarship will provide funding to a current junior or senior grade level student pursuing an undergraduate degree meeting the following criteria: acceptance into one of the following programs – chemistry, biology or nursing; minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0; and preference to a student with demonstrated financial need from FAFSA. Scholarship may be renewed a second year if awarded as a junior and criteria are still met.

The Garner/Emery Accounting Scholarship will provide funding to a incoming freshman student pursuing an undergraduate degree in accounting in the Perdue School of Business. Eligible recipients must be a resident of Maryland and have 2.8 cumulative GPA or higher. The scholarship can be renewed for up to 5 years (10 consecutive semester) if criteria are still met.

This scholarship will provide funding to a junior or senior grade level student pursuing an undergraduate degree in social work and meeting the following criteria: 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher, completion of a short essay and enrolling full time each semester. The scholarship may be renewed for one additional year if awarded as a junior.

The Kimmerly Messick Scholarship will provide renewable scholarship(s) to current/transfer undergraduate students with a declared major in the Perdue School of Business and meeting the following criteria: resident of Worcester or Wicomico County, MD; cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better; demonstrated financial need from FAFSA; preference given to students with entrepreneurial interest; and completion of a short essay (250 words or less) explaining what impact this scholarship will have on the pursuit of your educational and professional goals.. This scholarship can be renewed for up to 8 semesters max. if the recipient maintains satisfactory academic progress (SAP), remains in an eligible Perdue School major and has financial need from FAFSA. Kimmerly Messick, known locally as the “Furniture Queen,” spent her career building Furniture Inc. consisting of four successful retail furniture stores on the Lower Eastern Shore with over 50 employees. After putting herself through college, Kimmerly graduated from Salisbury University. During her time at school, Kimmerly worked year round to pay for all of her educational expenses and applied for every scholarship she could find. A personal goal of hers was to pay back every institution and or person that helped her along the way. In this spirit, she established the Kimmerly Messick Scholarship for Salisbury University students from her two home towns of Worcester County and Salisbury, Maryland. As an endowed scholarship, the Kimmerly Messick Scholarship will help countless young entrepreneur business students into perpetuity. Kimmerly’s mission is to create a legacy of philanthropy and leave student recipients with a strong message about giving back with the hope they will one day create their own scholarship at SU or contribute to her scholarship.

The Renee & William Smith scholarship will provide scholarships to students enrolled in the Master of Social Work program who plan to pursue careers in mental health or addictions counseling. Students must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA or better and the scholarship can be renewed for one additional year for a total of 4 semesters/2 years in all.

The Marilyn White scholarship will provide funding to current undergraduate students accepted into the nursing program with demonstrated financial need from the FAFSA. The scholarship can be renewed one additional year if awarded as a junior and criteria are met.

The Proctor Family CADR Graduate Scholarship will be awarded to a member of the rising second year CADR master’s degree cohort who, in the judgement of the CADR department faculty, shows particular promise in the field of dispute resolution. The scholarship recipient will be selected each spring and awarded for the upcoming academic year.

The Richard & Karin Hoffman Study Abroad Scholarship will provide funding to a full-time student who has been admitted to the Perdue School of Business and wishes to study abroad. Applicants must have a cumulative 3.31 or better. Special consideration will be given to students who are residents of the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Secondary consideration will be given to students who demonstrate financial need from FAFSA. The recipient will be selected by the Perdue School Student Development Committee. This is a non-renewable scholarship to be used during the semester that you will study abroad.

The Robert & Carolyn Fitzgerald Scholarship for nursing will provide funding to current students pursuing an undergraduate nursing degree, meeting the following criteria: resident of the state of Maryland; graduate of a Somerset County, MD public high school and admittance into the nursing program. The scholarship may be renewed for an additional year if awarded as a junior and minimum requirements are met including a 3.0 cumulative GPA or better and remaining in the nursing program.

The Rotary Club of Wicomico County Scholarship will provide a non-renewable scholarship to a non-traditional undergraduate or graduate student, enrolled full time or part time with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better and meeting the following criteria: student must be from Wicomico County, MD; student must demonstrate financial need from the FAFSA; Preference given to a student who shows full or part time employment; and must have completed a current FAFSA indicating an independent status. This is a non-renewable scholarship but students may reapply in a subsequent year.

The Roy S. Perdue Alumni Scholarship will provide financial support for an incoming freshman, preference to children of SU alumni, who have been accepted to Salisbury University with a high school GPA of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale and SAT of 1250 or better or ACT of 26 or better. The scholarship is renewable yearly for a total of four years. The student must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA for renewal. The Alumni Association Scholarship Committee will select recipients.

The Victor H. Laws Jr. Scholarship will provide financial support for one or more deserving undergraduate, full-time enrolled, pre-law students, with preference given to students from the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better is required to receive and retain this scholarship. The scholarship can be renewed as long as funding is available and pre-law requirements are met with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

The Vinyard Family Scholarship will provide funding to an incoming or current non-traditional undergraduate student who has a cumulative GPA of 2.5 of better and has financial need from the FAFSA. Non-traditional students are those that are considered independent on the FAFSA for financial aid purposes.

The Wiberg Health Career Materials Award is available to students who meet the following criteria: must be accepted into a major of Allied Health (Respiratory Therapy or Medical Laboratory Science) ; cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher; two letters of recommendation by professors or members of the professional allied health community; provide a 250 to 500 word essay detailing their career goals and the impact a Wiberg Health Career Materials Award would have on their studies at Salisbury University.

The Thomas and Jeanne P. Bulleit scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior student enrolled in an Elementary Education major in the Seidel school at Salisbury University. Student must be a Maryland resident with demonstrated financial need and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The award is renewable for up to two academic years and is awarded through the Seidel School of Education.

The DiLuchio Scholarship will provide funding to incoming or current undergraduate students pursing a degree at SU. Recipients must be enrolled full time with a 3.0 cumulative GPA or better. The scholarship may be renewed for a maximum of 8 semesters total.

This scholarship will provide one student with funding in the Perdue School of Business each year. To be considered for this scholarship the student must be a full-time current student in the Perdue School of Business with preference to a finance major. Students must also have financial need from the FAFSA and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Recipient for this scholarship will not be announced until after the start of the fall semester once the funding for the scholarship has been received at the university. Scholarships are non-renewable.

The Tom Curtis & Robert Breslau Memorial Scholarship honors two late colleagues in the food industry by endowing a memorial scholarship in their names. Eligible recipients must be a current student who has been accepted in the Perdue School of Business; must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA or better; must demonstrate financial need from the FAFSA; and must be a resident of Wicomico, Somerset or Worcester County MD. The scholarship is renewable for a second year if awarded as a junior.

The Eleanor Toth Scholarship for Math Education will be awarded to a full time, undergraduate sophomore, junior or senior level math major – secondary education track with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better and preference to a student with demonstrated financial need from the FAFSA.

This scholarship is given to recognize a Perdue School of Business major who has demonstrated outstanding leadership capacity. To be eligible students must be a full-time junior or senior in the Perdue School of Business; be a Maryland resident; have a cumulative 3.0 GPA including all transfer work. Students must submit two letters of recommendation. Additional scholarship information is availalbe in the Perdue School of Business Dean’s Office.

The Vincent D. Leisey Student Involvement and Leadership Honors Scholarship will provide financial support for a student accepted into the Honors College and who is active in campus life through student clubs and activities. This scholarship for a rising junior will be renewable for their senior year if criteria are still met.

The Virginia Mills Edwards Nursing Scholarship recognizes and funds students who desire to become registered nurses. Priority is given to residents of Dorchester (first), Somerset (second) and Wicomico (third) counties and licensed practical nurses or medical technicians (fourth, with priority given to Dorchester General Hospital employees). Students must be enrolled full-time and be a junior or senior of the upcoming semester. Letters of application should be submitted to the Virginia Mills Edwards Scholarship Board, with an essay stating in no less than 300 words the qualifications of the applicant. The Virginia Mills Edwards Scholarship Board awards scholarships annually for the next academic year. Information is available from the Department of Nursing.

The Nurses Training Scholarship, unique to the 40 & 8 Voiture Locale, was established in the organization in 1955 as a means of ensuring adequate numbers of skilled nurses for our nation in time of war and peace. To be considered for this scholarship the student must: Be admitted into the nursing professional program or is working to obtain a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing; Demonstrate financial need from the FAFSA; Have a strong academic standing, participation in community service and community activities; The award is renewable for up to one additional year (two years in total) as long as the student remains in an eligible program and funds are available; Selection is made by the Nursing Department

The W. Tracy and Frances Lord Holland Scholarship is awarded annually to a junior or senior student in good standing in the Perdue School of Business. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required. Recipient must be a resident of Wicomico County and have financial need from the most recent FAFSA. This scholarship is not automatically renewable, must apply each year, pending availability of funds, based on maintenance of the above criteria.

The Wallace Q. French Memorial Scholarship is a two-year, $2,000-per-year award given annually by the Tidewater Environmental Health Association in memory of their colleague Wallace Q. French. Applicants must be natural science (earth science or physics), biology, or chemistry majors; must be a junior or senior of the upcoming year; have a cumulative 3.0 GPA and must submit a short essay discussing career goals in the science field. Recipients are selected by the Tidewater Environmental Health Association and the faculty of the Henson School of Science.

The Wayne and Melissa Judkins Family Scholarship Fund provides scholarship funding, with preference given to students who 1) pursue majors within the Perdue School of Business or the Seidel School of Education and who are 2) graduates of Col Zadok Magruder High School or North East High School 3) residents of Montgomery or Cecil Counties, or 4) residents of other Maryland counties. The scholarship is awarded based on high school GPA, SAT, county of residence and intended academic program. The scholarship is renewable provided the student remain in good standing at SU.

The William B. and Betty B. Krieger Scholarship provides financial assistance to students with financial need (from FAFSA) and deserving students with preference given to graduates of Colonel Richardson High School. Students can be awarded as incoming freshmen or current students and must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) toward a degree and be enrolled full-time to remain eligible for scholarship renewal. Students may receive this funding for up to 8 semesters total.

The William Chaney Bunn Memorial Scholarship in Environmental Studies will be awarded to a Salisbury University current undergraduate, full-time student with a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA. First preference to a resident of Anne Arundel County MD, then any student in Maryland. Must be an environmental studies major and demonstrate involvement in environmental activities or other organizations outside the education setting by an essay or other means. The scholarship is renewable if the recipient has a 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA for up to three times after the initial award (contingent on funding availability).

The William H. Wroten scholarship is awarded annually to a history undergraduate or graduate student who has made a significant contribution to the study of the colonial Eastern Shore or who has produced an exceptional work of original historical study. Established by the Class of 1959, the scholarship recognizes the long-standing service of Dr. Wroten as Chair of the History Department. The recipient is selected by the Wroten Scholarship Committee. Information is available from the History Department. This scholarship is awarded for the current spring semester.

The William M. Folger Scholarship was created in the name of the Director of Choral Studies at Salisbury University. An anonymous donor made the initial endowment to start the scholarship program to recognize Dr. Folger’s effort and dedication in bettering the music programs at Salisbury University. At present, the Folger Scholarship, instituted in June 2005, provides a scholarship to a student participating in the University Chorale, one of five major performing ensembles in the Department of Music. The scholarship is awarded by audition by the Director of Choral Studies and with the approval of the Dean of the Fulton School of Liberal Arts. Eligible students may be from any major of study, must participate in the University Chorale during the semester of the award, and complete the audition process. The William M. Folger Scholarship is available to students at Salisbury University. You must be participating in the University Chorale to be eligible for this award.

This fund will honor Ms. Wood’s beloved professor, Dr. Leonard (Lee) Garigilano, and provide scholarships for current and future generations of students in the Seidel School of Education at Salisbury University. This scholarship will specifically target those students who express interest and possess aptitude for teaching math and science in Secondary Education (7th- 12th Grades). Eligible students must be admitted to the professional program in their major. Scholarships are renewable for up to two years providing student(s) remain in good academic standing and continue their studies in teacher education.

The Worcester County Teachers Association Scholarship Award will be awarded to a junior education major who is a graduate of Worcester County public school system. Must have a 2.75 cumulative GPA or better at Salisbury University.

Zoey DiPasqua’s parents teach in the Nursing Department at SU. Zoey has created an endowment in memory of Betty Turner, a former SU faculty member and longtime PRMC nurse. Students must be accepted into the Honors College, be a full-time Junior or Senior grade level, accepted into the Nursing program, have a cumulative 3.5 GPA or better and submit one letter of recommendation from the nursing faculty and an essay.
