Scholarships at SUNY College of Technology at Canton

The Alex Sabo Mentoring Endowed Scholarship is awarded to a Massena High School graduate with financial need enrolled in any two or four-year program at SUNY Canton. The recipient will be selected by the campus Scholarship Committee / Scholarship Administrator from a pool of applicants recommended by the Massena High School guidance department. Preference will be given to students enrolled in a finance or business curriculum. The annual award will be up to $3,000 per scholarship.

Baldwinsville High School Class of 1957 Endowed Scholarship was established by the late Joel M. Canino `59 and classmate George F. Dennison and is awarded to entering freshman from C.W. Baker High School, Baldwinsville, New York. An award of $12,500 per year will be given to two (2) students who will enroll in SUNY Canton two-year Air Conditioning Engineering Technology curriculum. Should there be only one eligible student, the committee may then award the second scholarship to a student who will enroll in any curriculum at SUNY Canton. The award amount for this scholarship will be $5,000 per year. The committee should consider academic excellence and need when making their decision. Should there be no eligible student from Baldwinsville, the SUNY Canton Scholarship Committee will consider recommendations from the dean of the Canino School of Engineering Technology, and may then award a scholarship (with the concurrence of Mr. Canino and Mr. Dennison) to one or two students enrolled in the CSOET who have demonstrated hard work and academic excellence. The scholarship awards may be any amount, not exceeding $10,000 per year total. Students may retain their scholarship.

The Craig P. Larkin New Beginnings Scholarship was established in memory of Craig P. Larkin. It is an annual scholarship in the amount of $400, to be awarded to a student or students enrolled in the Homeland Security or Emergency Management degree program. Preference will be given to a student who has a documented disability. The scholarship is renewable providing that the student maintains at least a 3.0 grade point average and remains in good standing in the major. The scholarship will be awarded following SUNY Canton’s application and review process for awarding scholarships. Craig P. Larkin was enrolled in the SUNY Canton online BS Homeland Security and Emergency Management Program when he passed away on April 23, 2016, from complications of a heart attack. Craig was born on April 9, 1970. He was a graduate of Whitesboro High School and worked at several welding companies before going to MVCC for mechanical engineering from 1991-94. Craig attended NTTS Trucking School College, in 1995, and went on to drive 18-wheeler trucks, as owner and operator of Larkin Trucking, from 1995-2008. Craig was previously a ham radio operator for the Red Cross Voluntary Emergency Communications and was serving as the ARES Emergency Communications Coordinator for the ARRL National Association for Amateur Radio, ARRL EG Oneida County, New York. He loved fishing, hunting, photography, driving across country in his 18-wheeler, being a CB and ham radio operator, and was actively involved in weather and storm chasing. He always called his friends and family to let them know a storm was coming so that they would be safe. He especially loved his mom’s homemade soup, home-cooked meals, cards, banners and humor.

The Discover SUNY Canton scholarship is an award up to $1,400 that allows out-of-state students to study online and benefit from the college’s standing as a leader in distance learning. Applicant must be enrolled full-time or part-time (not applicable to non-degree). Applicant must reside outside the state of New York and be enrolled exclusively in online coursework (cannot live on campus/elsewhere in NY).

SUNY Canton Fund for Excellence $3,600 scholarship. Minimum of a 92 or 3.5 GPA to qualify. Preferred SAT/ACT is 1150/24. Students must live on campus and maintain a 3.0 GPA as a full-time student. Eligibility is a 4-year maximum.

Established in 2019 by Mr. and Mrs. Raymond W. Boushie. The Annual Scholarship will be awarded to two students enrolling into SUNY Canton’s two or four – year programs, and involved in extracurricular activities. The first preference will be given to a student from Massena New York with a financial need. The recipient will be selected by the campus Scholarship Committee / Scholarship Administrator. The annual award will be $6,000 per year per student. The scholarship could be retained up to two or four years if recipient meets all the criteria.

SUNY Canton 1906 Scholarship. Minimum of an 85 or 2.5 GPA to qualify. The FAFSA must be completed, as financial need is a requirement for this scholarship. Students do not have to live on campus, but must maintain a 2.5 GPA as a full-time student. Eligibility is a 4-year maximum.

This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student demonstrating financial need, who is enrolled in the HVAC Trades or a student in the HVAC Engineering Technology two-year program. If no student meets these qualifications, the donor will select a deserving student enrolled in the Canino School of Engineering.

The AAUW Memorial Scholarship was established in 2000 by Carol Grzywinski, Sandy Sarkula, and the St. Lawrence County Branch of the American Association of University Women. It is to be awarded to a female student from St. Lawrence County, with leadership potential, who is community service minded, and enrolled in a four year program of study. Preference given, but not restricted to STEM related fields. Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.

The Academic Promise Provost Scholarship is intended for students demonstrating promise for success in college. Students will be awarded based on their overall academic performance in high school, demonstration of community involvement, financial need, and proven ability to overcome adversity. This scholarship is awarded at the discretion of the SUNY Canton Office of Admissions and, in some instances, may not require an application.

Agnes & John N. Burns Family Endowed Scholarship was created by John N. Burns `37. Two scholarships are awarded annually to two continuing students. One will be enrolled in the Business/Administrative Assistant curriculum and one to any curriculum at SUNY College of Technology, Canton, NY. First preference shall be given to a female student from an upstate county including: Franklin, Jefferson, Lewis, or St. Lawrence County.

Albert E. French Endowed Scholarship was established by alumni and the families of Albert E. and Marjorie R. French and is awarded to a continuing student who demonstrates academic excellence with financial need.

Albert F. and Agnes Powers Luck Endowed Scholarship was created by Albert F. Luck and is awarded to a student who has been accepted for full-time study in either the Civil or Construction Engineering Technology curriculum. Preference accorded to those who are graduates of Seton Catholic Central or Plattsburgh High School. Secondary preference shall be to a student from Clinton, Essex or Franklin county.

The Albert R. Faucher ’59 Electrical Engineering Annual Scholarship will be awarded to a student studying in any Electrical Engineering-related program at SUNY Canton. The Faucher family wishes for the scholarship recipients to understand the value of a SUNY Canton education and the successful career pathways it opens for alumni, like it did for Albert Faucher in 1959 and has continued to do for graduates ever since.

Alden C. Chadwick Endowed Scholarship was established by the College Association, Inc., in memory of Alden C. Chadwick. The scholarship is awarded to a returning student majoring in Sports Management.

The Alexander Reed Automotive Tool Scholarship is used to purchase tools for the program and/or pay off a standing tool loan. If the recipient does not have a tool loan and wishes to purchase tools, they will choose a company/store and submit a tool list to the Canton College Foundation where a representative will purchase the tools on the student’s behalf. If the student has a standing tool loan, the loan will be paid (up to) $2,000. The $2,000 annual scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student in his/her third semester and will be chosen by Dennis Tuper, Instructional Support Associate, as was instructed by the Reed family. This student will have shown dedication to the program and a considerable amount of promise in automotive technology skills.

The Alice Westaway Bagley Scholarships shall be awarded annually to ten students from St. Lawrence County who enroll in the Nursing curriculum. Recipients may be either entering or continuing students. If there is no suitable Nursing candidate, the scholarship may be awarded to students in a related allied health curriculum. Preference will be given to non-traditional students.

Allan P. and Catherine Barnett Newell Endowed Scholarship was established by the Sweetgrass Foundation, a private charitable institution they direct and administer, and is awarded to a second year (sophomore) student from Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Jefferson, Lewis, or St. Lawrence Counties. First preference is given to, but not restricted to, Veterinary Science Technology majors.

Alumni Association Scholarship is sponsored by the Canton College Foundation and is awarded to continuing students who have demonstrated academic achievement as measured by her or his GPA of 2.5 or better. Recipients must demonstrate service to the college community and have financial need.

SUNY Canton Alumni Scholarship. Minimum of an 85 or 2.5 GPA to qualify. Students do not have to live on campus, but must maintain a 2.5 to maintain the scholarship.

The sisters of Alpha Chi Omicron founded this scholarship in memory of their sister Amber Lynne Mote. The Alpha Chi Omicron sisters encourage active Greek members to submit an essay explaining what being a Greek means to them. Candidates must be an active Greek member with good standing (2.5 GPA or higher).

The American Society of Civil Engineers Annual Scholarship was created from proceeds recevied when SUNY Canton’s Steel Bridge Team won the 2009 National Student Steel Bridge Competition. Selection for the award is made by the Civil Engineer Faculty and Staff.

Anderson-Andre Endowed Scholarship is sponsored by Brian Anderson, M.D., to honor his parents, Morgan F. and Joan Andre Anderson. The scholarship is to be awarded annually to an entering or a continuing student who enrolls in the Veterinary Science Technology curriculum. First preference shall be accorded to a graduate of Beaver River or Canton Central School; secondly, to a graduate of a St. Lawrence, Jefferson, or Lewis County schools..

The Anthony “Tony” E. Darcangelo Memorial Scholarship will recognize a proven deserving Rome Free Academy student who has entered into a two- or four-year Business program at SUNY Canton and demonstrates financial need. Second preference will be any student from Rome Free Academy. Third preference will be a Business student from Oneida County. The recipient is expected to maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 or better.

Arlington Walker Endowed Scholarship was established by his wife, Sarah Walker, and is awarded to a returning senior student in the Criminal Justice curriculum who is a resident of the North County.

Arthur S. Wheater Endowed Scholarship was created by the Wheater Family and is awarded to either an entering or continuing student who is from the towns of Oswegatchie, Heuvelton, or Lisbon. First preference will be accorded to a student pursuing an agriculture related curriculum or veterinary technology.

Barr-Raymo Endowed Scholarship was created by David and Anne Barr and Robert and Kathryn Barr Raymo as a memorial tribute to David and Kathy Barr’s mother and Bob Raymo’s father, both of whom graduated from SUNY Canton. The scholarship will be awarded to a continuing student in any Business curriculum from Canton Central, Clifton-Fine Central, or Massena Central High Schools.

Bernard Creighton Regan Endowed Scholarship was established by Bernard Creighton Regan `65 and is awarded to graduates of Massena Central School with preference given to student in the Electrical or Air Conditioning Engineering Technology. Financial need is considered.

Betsy B. Kaplan Memorial Endowed Scholarship was created in memory of Mrs. Kaplan by her family and friends. The scholarship is awarded to continuing students in the Veterinary Science Technology curriculum who have demonstrated academic success. Additional consideration will be given to students who have demonstrated past involvement in animal welfare, work at a humane society or similar organization, or caring for abused animals in her own home.

Betty Evans Endowed Scholarship in Memory of Perry Evans`75 was created by Betty Evans to honor the memory of her son Perry Evans `75 and is awarded to an entering or continuing student from an agricultural background who is enrolled in either a two- or four-year program. Preference will be given to students who have had experience in 4H or are members of FFA.

Bill and Peg Stalder Endowed Scholarship was established by William and Peg Stalder, Community Bank System, New York State Association of College Trustees, and Mr. Stalder’s family and friends and is awarded to an entering student from St. Lawrence County.

The Bobbi Butler Burnham Scholarship is open to all qualified traditional and non-traditional students. This scholarship will be awarded based on merit and character. The preferences are as follows: 1. One scholarship will be awarded to a student with the surname of Sharlow, Butler, or Burnham. 2. The remaining scholarships will be awarded to students in a liberal arts associate or bachelor’s degree program. This scholarship may be re-awarded annually to the previous year’s recipient, dependent upon maintaining the required minimum GPA.

Bridge to Success Endowed Scholarship was established by R. Peter Heffering ’51. Awards are given to assist students who have exhausted all of their options for scholarships, loans, and other funds. There are no curriculum restrictions.

The Bruce Petrie Memorial Endowed Scholarshp will be awarded to a student from St. Lawrence County or Oswego County. Bruce Petrie worked at SUNY Canton for 23 years from 1964 until 1987 as the Director of Institutional Research, Assistant Vice President for Student Access Services, Director of Research and Planning, Registrar, Assistant Director of Admissions and as an Admissions Counselor. He enacted numerous innovative transformations to admissions, financial aid, institutional research, registrar, and the comptuer center. He was involved in many civic activities in the area.

The Leadership Institute Endowed Scholarship was created by the Leadership Institute and is awarded to an entering freshman student who is enrolled in a Business program and graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy or Massena Central School with an average of 85 or better.

C. Ernest and Dorothy B. Lowery Endowed Scholarship was created by the families and friends of C. Ernest and Dorothy B. Lowery and is awarded to a continuing student who has demonstrated academic excellence and has financial need.

Canton College Foundation North Country Academic Scholarship shall be awarded to either an entering or continuing student in any curriculum. Students will be required to meet the minimum qualifications noted by the Scholarship Committee and will be selected based on College priorities and the merits of the applicants – Minimum of an 85 or a 2.5 GPA to qualify. Students do not have to live on campus, but must maintain a 2.5 GPA to retain. Open to full and part-time students. No campus residency restriction. Eligibility is a 4-year maximum.

The Canton Fund Endowed Scholarship shall be awarded to either an entering or continuing student in any curriculum. Students will be required to meet the minimum qualifications noted by the Scholarship Committee and will be selected based on College priorities and the merits of the applicants.

The Canton-Potsdam Hospital Guild sponsors this annual scholarship for up to four Nursing students from St. Lawrence County with preference given to non-traditional students and a minimum of 3.0 GPA.

The purpose of this fund shall be to provide scholarship support to a student enrolled in a program at SUNY Canton related to business, psychology, or liberal arts. Consideration for this scholarship will be given to students who meet the following criteria: Demonstrated financial need, and remain in good academic standing with no violations of the University Code of Conduct.

The Carkner Construction Endowed Scholarship was established by Jeff Carkner`88 and is awarded to a student enrolled in the construction or engineering curriculums.

Carl W. Trainor Family Scholarship Endowment was created by Carl W. Trainor `77 and is awarded to a continuing student in the Mortuary Science or Health Science curriculums. First preference is given to a resident of Boonville or Lewis County and second preference to a North Country resident.

The Carol Sue (Morse) `53 and Paul A. Rosenberg Endowment Scholarship will be presented to a student who is enrolled in either a two- or four-year program in Human Health Care Studies with financial need at SUNY Canton. Mrs. Rosenberg would like to “give back” with gratitutde to SUNY Canton for the strong foundation given in both scholastics and social standards which prepared her toward her goal of employment and in later years able to attain additional college degrees utilizing college credits from Canton.

Catherine M. Kelly Endowed Award for Excellence in Psychiatric Nursing is sponsored by Catherine Kelly. The recipient is selected by the Nursing faculty and is a graduating senior Nursing student who has a 3.0 GPA or better and demonstrates clinical excellence, strong interpersonal relationship skills, and a commitment to nursing of psychiatric clients.

The Catherine Wells Hart Memorial Endowed Scholarship was created from donations by friends, family, and businesses upon the passing of Catherine Wells Hart. This scholarship supports a female student pursuing a ‘STEM’ degree; AS, AAS, or BS – following or aligned with programs within the Canino School of Engineering Technology. Preference is given for a student from Northern New York as represented by St. Lawrence, Essex, Clinton, Jefferson, Lewis, Hamilton or Warren County.

Centennial Endowed Scholarship was created by the efforts of the Centennial Gala Committee which fundraised to establish the College’s first unrestricted scholarship endowment. Financial need may be considered. There are no curriculum restrictions on the Centennial Scholarship.

Charles W. Johnson Endowed Scholarship is sponsored by Carol Johnson and is awarded annually to a entering freshman student whose high school academic record is meritorious. Preference will be accorded to a student majoring in Liberal Arts, Individual Studies, or Undeclared Major who indicates an interest in majoring in the media, TV, radio, journalism, etc.

Clark-Guyette Internship Assistance Program Endowment is sponsored by Judy Guyette and provides students participating in non-subsidized internships from St. Lawrence County. Second preference will be given to any student who is participating in a non-subsidized internship. The student must be a citizen of the US..

Clement J. Flanagan Endowed Scholarship was created by family and friends and is awarded to an entering student who is a graduate of Canton Central High School, need for financial assistance and demonstrate an involvement at the campus and/or community level.

Cleo J. Golding Endowed Scholarship is sponsored by the Golding Family and is awarded to an entering student with a meritorious academic record and financial need.

College Association Admissions Scholarship shall be awarded to either an entering or continuing student in any curriculum. Students will be required to meet the minimum qualifications noted by the Scholarship Committee and will be selected based on College priorities and the merits of the applicants – Minimum of an 85 or a 2.5 GPA to qualify. Students do not have to live on campus, but must maintain a 2.5 GPA to retain. Open to full and part-time students. No campus residency restriction. Eligibility is a 4-year maximum.

The Canton College Foundation is most pleased to offer this annual scholarship as an opportunity to support a student through the College Association Management Team efforts. The College Association Management Team would like the scholarship to be offered to a student from St. Lawrence County and to have no other or very few scholarships.

Coombs-Muscarella Endowed Scholarship was established in memory of Giuseppe and Dominica Muscarella, the grandparents of Edward Coombs`86, and is awarded to an entering student who is active in extracurricular activities and demonstrated leadership skills during high school.

Corning Foundation Endowed Scholarship is sponsored by Corning, Inc., and is awarded to an entering student in the Electrical Engineering Technology curriculum who is a graduate of a St. Lawrence County high school. Preference is given to women and minorities.

The Criminal Justice Alumni Award was established by Professor Ted Marlowe for students who are in need of assistance to further their education. It is designed to aid students in the Criminal Justice field with expenses for their internship. The amount will be determined by the department chair of the Criminal Justice program and the full-time faculty in that curriculum, depending upon the need.

The Criminal Justice Department Endowed Scholarship was established by funds raised through the 35th Anniversary Celebration of the Canton College Foundation and is awarded to students majoring in Criminal Justice, Criminal Investigation, and Law Enforcement Leadership and Management and Homeland Security.

Cross Connection Controls Scholarship was established in 1998 by the Cross Connection Control Foundation of the Niagara Frontier, Inc., which provides training for the certification of backflow prevention device testers. The scholarship will be awarded annually to an entering student in the Air Conditioning Engineering Technology curriculum.

This scholarship is to be awarded with a preference to a St. Lawrence County student either enrolled or planning to enroll in the Accounting Program at SUNY Canton. The student must also demonstrate teamwork while being actively involved in student organizations and extracurricular activities in High School or college. It criteria for the above is unavailable, the student is to be either enrolled or planning to enroll in the Business curriculum, while still demonstrating the same qualities of teamwork outside of the classroom.

The Daniel J. Sweeney `75 Delta Kappa Sigma Fraternity Leadershp Endowment will be awarded to a student who performs well academically and who demonstrates leadership within their community, in athletics, in student government, or any other areas. The recipient should have strong financial need. Preference will be given to the son/daughter of a brother of the Delta Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Daniel J. Sweeney served as the advisor for Delta Kappa Sigma for over 30 years. Dan came to SUNY Canton first as a studnet in the early 1970s, returning in Residence Life, Student Life, and ultimately retiring as Vice President. During his years as advisor to Delta Kappa Sigma, he mentored countless young men.

The David A. Frary and Family Scholarship shall be awarded annually to a returning student from St. Lawrence County who is enrolled in a Business curriculum at SUNY Canton and whose cumulative grade point average is 3.0 or greater. Preference shall be accorded to candidates who intend to pursue a bachelor’s degree. Financial need is a priority consideration.

David R. Maynard Endowed Scholarship was created as a tribute by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Maynard, the Student Cooperative Alliance, Inter-Fraternity/Sorority Council, and Delta Kappa Sigma Fraternity and is awarded to an entering student with meritorious academic and extracurricular high school activity and financial need. Preference will be accorded to student who are majoring in Mortuary Science.

David W. Sullivan Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established as a tribute to David W. Sullivan by his family and friends and is awarded to an entering student majoring in Criminal Justice who is a graduate of a St. Lawrence County high school.

The David ’80 and Tracy Elliott Endowed Scholarship is awarded to a student enrolled in the Agribusiness program or related agriculture program at SUNY Canton. Recipients of this scholarship may continue to be awarded this scholarship for up to four academic years, provided they maintain a 2.5 GPA. Preference will be given to students from St. Lawrence, Franklin, Jefferson, Lewis, and Clinton counties. David Elliott was born and raised on a dairy farm outside of Canton. He attended Canton High School, graduating in 1978. He attended Canton College, graduating in 1980 with a degree in Dairy and Food Science. He went to work for Allied Dairy Coop in 1980 as a dairy farm inspector. During his 26 years at Allied, he worked his way up to Director of Quality Control and Membership position. In 2006 he went to work for Agri-Mark Cabot Cheese as Regional Membership Manager, a position he currently holds. He and his wife Tracy live on a 105 acre farm near Canton. Dave raises crops, loves to watch his handy work grow, and jokes that he is a wild deer farmer. Tracy also grew up in Canton. Both of her parents were educators at Canton Central School. Tracy spent much of her childhood at Gramma Ritchie’s dairy farm helping with chores and loving the farm life. Later as a married mother of three, she continued her many trips to the farm. Tracy’s love of the farm made her realize that agriculture would always be a part of her life and that farming and agriculture was the backbone of the country. Tracy is a pediatric school-based physical therapist who has worked for St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES for the past 23 years. The Elliotts are strong believers in higher education and supporting our youth. They believe that an education in agriculture-related fields at SUNY Canton will lead to many career opportunities. The Elliott family wishes to encourage the tradition of a high quality education in agriculture at SUNY Canton through this scholarship.

The Dennis Tuper Book Scholarship was established by Dennis Tuper to support students in the Automotive Program. This is to be awarded annually to a deserving second-year (sophomore) student enrolled at SUNY Canton as selected by Dennis Tuper to offset the cost of purchasing required textbooks and supplies. The annual award will be $1,200 split evenly over the fall and spring semesters. If the student does not maintain good standing in the program, the spring award may be cancelled. As a condition of the award, the recipient is expected to walk at the Graduation Ceremony to celebrate their accomplishment.

The Donald M. Morgan Memorial Endowed Scholarship was created by family and friends. It is awarded annually to a returning SUNY Canton student who is a graduate of Knox Memorial Central School or Edwards-Knox Central School and is maintaining a 2.75 cumulative grade point average.

Dr. Adelord S. and Sylvia H. Blanchard Endowed Scholarship was created by the SUNY Canton Student Cooperative Alliance, faculty, staff, and alumni and is awarded to a returning student in the Business Administration curriculum. Preference is given to candidates intending to pursue a baccalaureate degree in business.

Dr. Earl W. MacArthur Honors Scholarship was created in tribute to Dr. Earl W. MacArthur by the Canton College faculty and staff, Student Cooperative Alliance, and College Association, Inc. The scholarship is awarded to an entering student with the following criteria: Be in the top five percent of high school class; 93 or better high school average, and a combined SAT of 1250 or ACT of 28 or better. The student must maintain a 3.25 GPA to retain the scholarship.

The Dr. Harry E. Howe Endowed Scholarship shall be awarded annually to a returning nursing student with a minimum 3.0 GPA. The recipient must show excellence in performance of nursing skills and be of good character.

Dr. Jonathan Gueverra Endowed Scholarship was created by Dr. Jonathan Gueverra and is awarded to a continuing student in a Business or Criminal Justice two- or four-year degree program.

The purpose of this fund shall be to provide scholarship support to a student who is enrolled or planning to enroll in a Nursing-related degree program at SUNY Canton. Eligible students will meet the following criteria: Preference given to students from St. Lawrence County, who demonstrate financial need. Student remains in good academic standing, with no violations of the University Code of Conduct.

Dr. Michael and Barbara Maresca Family Endowed Scholarship was created by Dr. Michael and Barbara Maresca and is awarded to both an entering freshman and continuing senior in the Nursing program with preference given to students demonstrating leadership skills and community service from Canton-Potsdam Hospital and Massena Memorial Hospital areas.

Dr. Solomon Cook Endowed Scholarship was created by Dr. Solomon Cook and is awarded to an entering or continuing student from the Akwesasne St. Regis Mohawk Reservation with financial need. If there is no eligible candidate from Akwesasne, second preference shall be to a graduate of Salmon River Central School.

Dr. William F. Peters Tech Prep Endowed Scholarship was established by family and friends and is awarded to an entering student who is a BOCES graduate with preference to Tech Prep participants.

The Duken Family Scholarship shall be awarded annually to an entering student from Clinton County, selected in priority order from 1) Seton Catholic High School, Plattsburgh, New York, 2) Plattsburgh City High School, or 3) any other Clinton County School. The student selected shall have demonstrated a strong interest and passion for business curriculum, desire and effort to be successful, and evidence of leadership skills in student, community, and/or religious activities.

E.B. and Gladys Kennedy Endowed Scholarship was created by Dr. Joseph Lane Kennedy, and his wife, Dine, as a tribute to President Emeritus Kennedy�s parents and is awarded to a senior student who demonstrates financial need and evidence of commitment to community service.

The purpose of this fund shall be to provide scholarship support to a student enrolled or planning to enroll in a two or four-year degree program at SUNY Canton

Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to undergraduate students who are enrolled or planning to enroll in the Business Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Graphic and Multimedia Design, Management, or Marketing Management degree programs at SUNY Canton who meet the following additional criteria: Born in the USA, Resident of NYS, with preference given to students from Clinton County or a Northern New York County. Comes from a single parent home or a home where a parent has major physical or mental health problems such as being addicted to alcohol or drugs. Special consideration will be given to an applicant whose parents did not graduate form college. Demonstrated financial need. Student remains in good academic standing, with no violations of the University Code of Conduct.

Ed and Clara Cloce Endowed Scholarship is sponsored by Ed and Clara Cloce and is awarded to technical students whose performance in and out of the classroom demonstrates potential for success. Preference will be given to student admitted to the Automotive Technology program. Financial need may be a consideration.

Edwin Krenceski Memorial Scholarship is sponsored by Irene and Mary Krenceski and is awarded to 2 students in the Electrical Engineering Technology curriculum. Financial need will be the primary consideration.

Elaine Claxton Pidgeon Endowed Scholarship was created by Elaine Claxton Pidgeon and is awarded to a continuing student in the Nursing curriculum who has demonstrated academic excellence and financial need.

This scholarship is in memory of Elsie Lucy (Cole) Norton, a former teacher and resident of Canton, New York. Elsie attended teacher’s training school in Morristown, New York, and taught at a country school in Edwards, New York. She raised nine children by herselft following the death of her husband, Charles Mills Norton. The scholarship was established by the three remaining children. The recipient will be a student from St. Lawrence County pursuing a teaching career. Preference will be for a student from the Canton area. Preferred area of study is the Early Childhood Associate in Applied Science degree program. The student may retain the scholarship for a second year if the grade point average is 3.0 or above.

Elwood J. Nicholson, Jr. Endowed Scholarship was established by family, friends, and alumni and is awarded to an entering student in an Engineering Technology and Science curriculum with preference to Air Conditioning Engineering Technology/Heating and Plumbing Service and demonstrate financial need.

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Scholarship will be awarded to a full-time or part-time student. First preference will be given to an employee who is enrolled in classes at SUNY Canton, If there are no employees enrolled in classes, a spouse or dependent of an employee who is enrolled in classes at SUNY Canton would be considered. If there are multiple eligible applicants, financial need will determine the recipient.

The Engineering Opportunity Scholarship is designed for students who have chosen a major in our Canino School of Engineering Technology and will be awarded based on past achievements and future career goals. Minimum of an 85 or 2.5 GPA to qualify. Students do not have to live on campus, but must maintain a 2.5 GPA as a full-time student. Eligibility is a 4-year maximum.

Ernest C. Krag Endowed Scholarship was created by the family and friends of Ernest C. Krag and is awarded to an entering freshman in a Liberal Arts/Social Science curriculum. Preference is given to a student planning to pursue studies in government and history; second preference is to a student from St. Lawrence or Franklin County; and third preference to a Native American student.

Ethelyn B. Davis Endowed Scholarship was created by Ethelyn’s husband, Charles C. Davis, her colleagues at Canton College, friends, and family and is awarded to a returning student in the Nursing program with special consideration given to the student who has demonstrated compassion, thoughtfulness, and concern for the patient’s well-being.

Eurto Family Endowed Scholarship was established by Joan Eurto and is awarded to a non-traditional (over 21 years of age) student majoring in a certificate, associate, or bachelor degree program.

Evan M. Dana Endowed Scholarship was created by family, friends, and alumni in memory of Evan M. Dana. The scholarship is awarded to an entering or continuing student majoring in Agribusiness Management; 2nd choice Veterinary Science Technology.

SUNY Canton Excellence scholarship. Minimum of a 92 or 3.6 GPA to qualify. Preferred SAT/ACT is 1220/24. Students must live on campus and maintain a 2.5 GPA as a full-time student. Eligibility is a 4-year maximum.

The purpose of this scholarship shall be to provide support to a student who meets the following criteria: Demonstrates leadership in high school or current institution of higher education & Community. Evidence of leadership through demonstrated community engagement must be ongoing in order to retain. Preference given to an out of state student, who is planning on pursuing bachelor’s degree, minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5, remains in good academic standing with no violations of the University Code of Conduct.

Frederick C. and Karen Liebi Endowed Scholarship was created by Frederick C. and Karen Liebi and is awarded to a student in the Construction majors; secondly , the other curriculums in the Canino School of Engineering Technology.

The Frederick S. and Barbara R. `53 & `70 Wilder Endowed Scholarship will be awarded to a non-traditional student from Northern New York who is in their second year of the Associates Nursing Degree Program or a non-traditional student from Northern New York in their third or fourth year of the Bachelors Nursing Degree Program.

Fulton and Anna McAllister Endowed Scholarship was created by their daughter, Sarah Walker, and granddaughter, Mary Monnet, and is awarded to a continuing student in the Nursing curriculum who is a St. Lawrence County resident with financial need.

Garnett M. Lawrence Endowed Scholarship was created by the Estate of Garnett M. Lawrence and is awarded to both entering and continuing students who are graduates of Massena Central High School. Financial need is a consideration.

George and Eileen Fay Endowed Scholarship was created the children of Mr. and Mrs. Fay in honor of their parents and it is awarded to an entering student who is a graduate of either Massena or Canton Central Schools. Preference will be given to students majoring in a Business curriculum. The student must have financial need.

Gerald E. and Corinne C. Rice Endowed Scholarship was created by Corinne Cahoon Rice and her family and friends and is awarded to an entering student in the Canino School of Engineering Technology with preference to a non-traditional student.

The Gerard `65 and Patricia Desormeau Family Endowed Scholarship is awarded annually to a freshman or continuing student in the Electrical Engineering Technology program. Preference is given to a student from the Indian River School District, though students from Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence Counties are encouraged to apply. Students should have financial need and have demonstrated satisfactory academic progress. Gerard, from Theresa and a graduate of Indian River Central School, graduated in 1965 from SUNY Canton’s (then called Canton ATI) Electrical Technology program. After Gerard graduated, he met his wife Patricia, of Tulsa, OK. They married and established their home in Oklahoma where they both had long and successful careers with the Phillips Petroleum Company. Mr. and Mrs. Desormeau recognize the opportunities that a SUNY Canton education can provide and wish to aid a student in achieving those opportunities. The Canton College Foundation is grateful to the Desormeau family for entrusting this endowed scholarship with the Foundation. Gerlach Family Nursing Endowed Scholarship was established by David M. `83 and Lisa K. `83 & `06 Gerlach and supports a student in the Nursing program.

Goldie Burgess Endowed Scholarship was established shortly after her death by her fiance’, F. Reginald Douthit, and is awarded to a continuing Nursing student with financial need who has at least a 2.75 cumulative grade point average..

Goolden Family Endowed Scholarship was created by Charles and Linda Goolden and is awarded to an entering student from St. Lawrence, Jefferson, or Franklin County who enrolls in either Mortuary Science or a Business curriculum. Preference is given to students from Madrid or Waddington.

Gordon and Beatrice Lawrence Endowed Scholarship was created by the Estate of Gordon and Beatrice Lawrence and is awarded to both entering and continuing students who are graduates of St. Lawrence Central School.

The Grace Family Nursing Scholarship was established by the members of the Grace Family to honor Margaret Whitney Grace and Anne Grace O’Brien for their years of dedication, service, and love for nursing. It will be awarded to a student enrolled in the Nursing bachelor’s degree program. The student must be enrolled at least 6 credit hours per semester. The student will be recommended by the Nursing faculty. The student must have financial need and be a New York State resident, preferably from St. Lawrence County.

Grace Jones-Vesper Business Scholarship was created by Grace Jones-Vesper `88 and is awarded to a continuing student in the Business Administration curriculum who has maintained a B average. Preference is given to a non-traditional student and financial need is also considered.

SUNY Canton Grasse River Educational Scholarship. Minimum of an 85 or 2.5 GPA to qualify. The FAFSA must be completed, as financial need is a requirement for this scholarship. Students do not need to live on campus, but must maintain a 2.5 GPA as a full-time student. Eligibility is a 4-year maximum.

The Gregg and Anne Coloton Williams `78 Endowed Scholarship was created from donations from family and friends upon Anne’s retirement from SUNY Canton in December 2016. The scholarship shall be awarded to an entering or continuing student who has demonstrated good citizenship by being involved in extracurricular and/or community service activities. There are no curriculum, geographic, or financial need restrictions. The recipient may retain the scholarship as long as the recipient meets the minimum GPA requirements as set by the Scholarship Committee. Anne Coloton Williams graduated from SUNY Canton in 1978 with an associate’s degree in Secretarial Science. She began working at the College that same year in the Word Processing Center. She continued her studies part-time and earned a second associate degree in Business Administration. In 1985, she became the Program Aide in the Admissions Office where she worked for 19 years. She enjoyed assisting prospective students and their families with their paperwork to register for classes. In 2004, Anne became the Assistant to the Vice President for Advancement and began working with the Alumni/Development Office and the Canton College Foundation. She thoroughly enjoyed working with the alumni, current students, and the Foundation Board of Directors. Anne was a very dedicated employee and made many lifelong friendships during her 38 years of employment at SUNY Canton. She was deeply honored by the creation of this scholarship endowment.

The purpose of this fund shall be to provide scholarship support to a student from Harpursville Central High School or Colesville, New York, who is enrolled or planning to enroll in a degree program at SUNY Canton.

Guilford White `68 Endowed Scholarship was established by Guilford White `68 in memory of Ross Hudson and is awarded to either an entering or continuing student in the Canino School of Engineering Technology with preference to Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Technology: Management who has financial need.

Hahn-Kalberer Endowed Scholarship was created by Professor Emeritus Herman Kalberer and is awarded to non-traditional continuing students who will be entering their final year in a two-year degree program with a minimum 3.0 GPA. A special application, essay, and telephone interview is required for this scholarship as the award amount is equal to the cost of tuition. This is a 1-time, 1-year award that is not renewable.

Harold C. Town Endowed Scholarship was created by the Town Family and is awarded to an entering student who is a graduate of Norwood-Norfolk Central School.

Harriett Gushea/Massena Memorial Hospital Nursing Endowed Scholarship was created by Massena Memorial Hospital in honor of longtime staff member Harriett Gushea. The scholarship is awarded to a Massena Memorial Hospital employee who is enrolled in the Nursing program or hospital-related degree areas.

Harry and Ella Winslow Podgurski Endowed Scholarship was created in memory of his parents by Harry D. Podgurski and is awarded to an entering student in the Canino School of Engineering Technology who is a graduate of Massena Central School.

Harry E. King Endowed Scholarship was created by the King Family and friends and is awarded to a student in the Air Conditioning Engineering Technology curriculum or Alternative and Renewable Energy curriculum.

The Henning-Keeler Scholarship was created by a bequest from Professor Emeritus Gerald Roselle in honor of his aunts. The scholarship is awarded to students in the Liberal Arts/Humanities or technical programs.

Henry Lawrence Howe V Endowed Scholarship was created by Cynthia Sanders Howe Runge `77 and is awarded to a sophomore student with a learning disability who is from St. Lawrence County who has achieved a 2.5 GPA or better and who has financial need. Preference shall be shown to candidates pursuing careers in technical fields, especially in computers or electrical/electronics.

Heuvelton Central School Alumni Endowed Scholarship was created by the Heuvelton Central School Alumni Association and is awarded to an entering student who is a graduate of Heuvelton Central School with good academic standing and strong positive relationships with teachers and peers. No history of drug or alcohol abuse. Financial need must be demonstrated.

The Hirschey Family Business and Accounting Endowment will be given to a student in the Business or Accounting curriculum who is a resident of either Jefferson, Lewis, or St. Lawrence County in that preferential order.

The In Gratitude Scholarship was created to support members of the St. Lawrence County workforce who would like to start or further their education. Preference given to applicants who, during the pandemic, are considered either an essential worker, a volunteer, or suffered a financial hardship. Recipients must be St. Lawrence County residents and satisfy one of the following criteria: never attended college and earned a high school diploma or its equivalency no less than 7 years ago, or previously attended college but have not enrolled at a college during the last 5 years. Applicant must complete FAFSA (and be eligible for Title IV funding), TAP, and Excelsior applications. Applicant must meet admissions requirements for program or pre-program indicated on application. Applicant must be enrolled full-time or part time (not applicable to non-degree.)

James D. Bartholomew Endowed Scholarship was established by Rosie and John Bartholomew as a memorial tribute to their son, James `92. The scholarship is awarded to an entering student with preference given to a graduate of Massena Central School or Madrid-Waddington Central School who is majoring in Construction Technology: Management or a related engineering curriculum.

James M. and Charlene Tyler Endowed Scholarship was created by James M. and Charlene Tyler of West Monroe, New York. James Tyler is the president and founder of Northland Associates in Liverpool, New York. The scholarship is awarded to a continuing student who had challenges in high school but has excelled academically during the first year. This is a merit award recognizing the change in the students performance and accomplishments at SUNY Canton. Should the students performance continue to excel, this scholarship is renewable if the student wishes to earn a bachelors degree.

Jay F. Stone Endowed Scholarship was created by the Stone Family and is awarded to a student in the Air Conditioning Engineering Technology program. Financial need may be considered.

Jean M. Poticher Endowed Scholarship was established by the College Association, Inc., and Mrs. Poticher’s family and friends and is awarded to an entering student from St. Lawrence County who is majoring in a Business curriculum.

Jesse Kaufman Endowed Scholarship is sponsored by the Kaufman Family and is awarded to an entering student in the Electrical Engineering Technology curriculum. If the recipient maintains a 2.75 or better GPA at the end of the second semester, he or she may retain the scholarship for a second year of study.

John A. Goetze Endowed Scholarship is sponsored by John A. Goetze and is awarded to a continuing student in the engineering technologies pursuing a degree in Construction Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, or Engineering Science.

John F. Ruitberg Endowed Scholarship was established the family, friends, and former students of John F. Ruitberg and is awarded to an entering student from St. Lawrence County who is majoring in Business or Liberal Arts-Social Science curriculum.

John G.A. and Chloe Ann R. O’Neil Endowment was created by colleagues, friends, and family of John and Chloe Ann O’Neil honoring their distinguished public service and devotion to education and government. These funds are awarded on a need basis determined by the Canton College Foundation.

John H. and Eunice B. Stone Endowed Scholarship was created by Eunice B. Stone to assist student from Jefferson and Lewis counties and is awarded to a student showing financial need with preference to a part-time student.

John H. Wells Memorial Endowed Scholarship was created by Shirley Wells as a memorial tribute to her husband and is awarded to an entering student who is majoring in the Air Conditioning Engineering Technology or Heating and Plumbing curriculums.

The John L. Halford, Sr., Endowed and Memorial Scholarship shall be awarded annually to four entering students and to at least two (2) graduating seniors from Gouverneur Central School who will pursue a four-year college degree at SUNY Canton. It is desired that 50% of the overall recipients come from the Gouverneur area. Recipients shall be selected based on financial need, academic achievement, and involvement in extracurricular activities. Selection of the particular Gouverneur students will be made by the Gouverneur Central School Scholarship Committee and the recipients will be announced at Moving-Up Day. The award amounts will be calculated and evenly distributed to students for every year they attend the College providing they maintain a GPA of 2.5 or above. Students are eligible to continue to receive the scholarship until the completion of their four-year degree. If the chosen students for some reason do not continue their studies, the scholarship may be awarded to a Gouverneur Central School graduate who has the appropriate GPA and is in a four-year program.

John L. Halford, Sr.,`49 Nursing Endowed Scholarship was created by John L. Halford, Sr., `49 and is awarded to Nursing students enrolled in the four-year Nursing program who are either currently employed as a nurse in St. Lawrence County or are originally from St. Lawrence County.

John P. Ouderkirk Endowed Scholarship was established by family, friends, colleagues, and alumni and is awarded to a continuing student in the following bachelor’s degrees programs: Alternative and Renewable Energy Systems, Civil and Environmental Technology, Electrical Technology, or Mechanical Technology whose academic performance is meritorious. Preference is accorded to students with financial need.

The Joseph and Carolyne Rich Family Endowed Scholarship was established to help students meet their educational goals. The scholarship will be awarded to a non-traditional student who is pursuing a career in the human services field. Preference will be given to students from Jefferson County who demonstrate involvement in community service activities. Financial need will also be a consideration.

Joseph L. and Dine Kennedy Endowed Scholarship was created as a tribute to Dr. and Mrs. Kennedy by the Student Government Association, the College Association, Inc., as well as faculty, staff, alumni, and community members. The scholarship is awarded to a student or students in a four-year degree program. The student(s) will have demonstrated high academic achievement in high school or while attending‰Û¡ÌÝå¢ÌÎÌÝ_SUNY Canton.

Joyce A. MacArthur/CTC Women Endowed Scholarship was created by the CTC Women and is awarded to a returning student who demonstrates exemplary college or community service whose GPA is 3.0 or greater.

The purpose of this fund shall be to provide scholarship support to a student who is enrolled or planning ito enroll in a business-related degree program at SUNY Canton. Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to: Student who is enrolled/planning to enroll in a business related degree program at SUNY Canton, resides in St. Lawrence County, demonstrated financial need, preference to a student who is a single parent, who remains in good academic standing, with no violations of the University Code of Conduct.

Katherine Wyckoff ’77 Scholarship was established by the Wyckoffs and is awarded to either an entering or continuing student in the Nursing program or in a health-related field with preference given to a non-traditional student with financial need.

Kenneth R. McDonald/Howland Pump Scholarship was created by Kenneth R. McDonald and Howland Pump and Supply, Inc. and is awarded to either an entering or continuing St. Lawrence County student in the Air Conditioning Engineering Technology or Heating and Plumbing curriculum.

Kevin Fear `87 Endowed Scholarship was established by Kevin Fear and is awarded to a student who has a learning disability.

Requirements: A. Full-time student in Accounting or a related field B. Second-year student, planning to continue studies at SUNY Canton in a four-year baccalaureate program. C. The student with the highest GPA in Accounting courses, as determined by the Dean of SBLA or appointed faculty.

Lawrence Germain Endowed Scholarship was established in 1995 by Sheila A. Germain as a memorial tribute to her husband, businessman and dedicated humane society volunteer, to foster the education of skilled and compassionate animal health technicians. Scholarships shall be awarded annually to freshmen or continuing Veterinary Science Technology students who are truly in need of financial help and without it would not be able to attend college due to financial hardship.

SUNY Canton Leadership scholarship. Minimum of a 90 or 3.4 GPA to qualify. Preferred SAT/ACT is 1170/23. Students do not have to live on campus, but must maintain a 2.5 GPA as a full-time student. Eligibility is a 4-year maximum.

Leland Blevins Family Endowed Scholarship was established by the Blevins Family and is awarded awarded annually to an entering automotive technology student whose performance in and out of the classroom demonstrates potential for success. Financial need may be a consideration.

Liberty Utilities Scholarship is sponsored by Liberty Utilities of Massena and is awarded to a North Country resident majoring in a Business or Canino School of Engineering Technology curriculum. Financial need is a consideration.

Linda Lahey Fay Nursing Award was created as a tribute to Professor Emerita Linda Fay and is awarded to a senior graduate who has assisted both fellow students and faculty members throughout the Nursing program and will be given annually at the Nursing Program Pinning Ceremony.

Lloyd and Josephine Kingston Endowed Scholarship was created by Sylvia Kingston to honor her parents and is awarded to an entering student in a Business curriculum from St. Lawrence County with preference given to a graduate of Canton Central School.

The Lloyd J. `92 and Paula King `80 Hurlbut Endowed Scholarship will be awarded to a student from St. Lawrence or Jefferson County who demonstrates financial need. Lloyd and Paula Hurlbut were both raised in St. Lawrence County. Both are from farm families and looked for local options to start their college education. Lloyd pursued an Accounting degree while Paula studied Criminal Justice.

Lorence F. Pries Endowed Scholarship was created by Lorence F. Pries and his family and friends and is awarded to a continuing student in the Electrical Engineering Technology curriculum.

Margaret D. Sovie Endowed Scholarship was created by Alfred L. Sovie `58 in memory of his wife and is awarded to a second-year Nursing student who has demonstrated a compassionate outlook and eagerness to become a registered nurse. This award will be chosen by the consensus of the Nursing faculty. A second award will be made to a graduating student of Ogdensburg Free Academy who is attending SUNY Canton in the Nursing or Health Care Management program. This award will be announced during Ogdensburg Free Academy’s Commencement ceremony.

The Marjorie J. Rock Endowed Scholarship is awarded to a non-traditional Nursing student with previous nursing experience and is a resident of St. Lawrence County who desires employment after graduation in the North Country.

The Maurice B. “Mick” Harrington Scholarship was established by his wife, Sheila Harrington `66, and his children to honor Mick’s life. The scholarship shall be awarded annually to a continuing student in Business Administration or Sports Management at SUNY Canton. The student must have a 3.0 GPA to be eligible for the scholarship. Mick Harrington graduated from St. Lawrence University with a Bachelor’s in English and Masters in Education. He taught high school English for five years before joining IDS Financial Services in 1974. He worked as a Divisional Manager with the company until 1988. Mick then took his extensive business experience to SUNY Canton, where he worked as a Business Administration professor for 16 years. Mick brought the Business Administration curriculum to life for his students with lessons and anecdotes from his experiences in the business world. He also inspired them to remember the impact their decisions will make on the lives of others and stressed the importance of ethics in business. A former high school and collegiate athlete, Mick was often found cheering on the SUNY Canton athletic teams. He continued to support SUNY Canton athletics until his passing in April 2015. The Canton College Foundation is grateful for the support received from its alumni and friends for creating this scholarship.

*Merriman Family Endowed Scholarship was created by the Merriman Family: Joel `53 and his wife Betty White Merriman `54, and their children, Charles `79 and Donna `83, and is awarded to a student who is a graduate of Colton-Pierrepont Central School, Norwood-Norfolk Central School, or Potsdam Central School. Modell Family Endowed Scholarship was established by Raymond Modell `62 and is awarded to a continuing student in the Electrical Engineering Technology curriculum with preference given to a student from Onondaga County.

The Myrna F. Thomas ’79 Scholarship will be awarded to an entering or continuing student who demonstrates financial need. Myrna Thomas’ intent in creating this scholarship is to help SUNY Canton students discover their own passion for learning as she did when she was a student. Myrna Thomas, a Plattsburgh native, graduated from SUNY Agricultural and Technical College in 1979 with an associate’s degree in mortuary science. This experience inspired Ms. Thomas’ love of the biological sciences and led her to Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in the field. Ms. Thomas has enjoyed a successful career with several major pharmaceutical companies and presently with a manufacturer that fills and packages products for some of the world’s largest pharmaceutical and consumer products companies. The Canton College Foundation is grateful for the support received from its alumni and friends for creating this scholarship.

New York State Federation of Home Bureaus, Inc., in Honor of Audrey J. Hall Scholarship is awarded to a continuing full-time student in either the Early Childhood or Nursing curriculum who is a resident of counties where there are organized chapters of New York State Federation of Home Bureaus, Inc. Student must have a GPA of 2.85 or better to be awarded.

Nicole Fleury Memorial Endowed Scholarship was created in memory of Nicole Fleury by family and friends. The scholarship is awarded to a student in the Veterinary Science Technology curriculum who demonstrates leadership, compassion, and a love for animals.The scholarship may be awarded to an incoming or returning student in the major. SUNY Canton North Country Educational Scholarship. Minimum of an 87 or 3.2 GPA to qualify. Students do not have to live on campus, but must maintain a 2.5 GPA as a full-time student. Eligibility is a 4-year maximum.

SUNY Canton Part Time Scholarship. This award is intended for students who have previously completed a majority of their coursework and are only able to attend part-time due to the limited number of credits left to complete. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA to qualify. Award amount is issued according to the applicants pre-determined non-federally funded need. Committee will allocate $75-$200 per credit hour. Maximum years of eligibility: Two.

Path for Completion grant is designed for non-traditional students, who have been out of college for a period of time, and have an interest in completing a degree, but are experiencing a financial hardship.

The Pathways Scholars Award Program is a SUNY-initiated program to provide high performing students a gateway to enrollment and support to successfully complete their education at SUNY. Eligible students must have graduated from a high school in New York State with a high school average of at least 80%; and enrolled for the first time as a full-time student in an Associate degree program at a SUNY community college or college of technology. Qualifying students will receive a total of $500 ($250/semester) to use for books, supplies, or other school related expenses during their first year. Pathways Scholars will also receive a $1,000 stipend upon on-time completion of their associate degree at SUNY Canton and enroll in a SUNY bachelor’s degree program.

Paul W. Calkins Endowed Scholarship is sponsored by the Calkins Family and is awarded to an entering student in a business curriculum. Financial need may be a consideration.

Paula Bouchard Jacques Endowed Scholarship is sponsored by Paula Bouchard Jacques and is awarded to a freshman student who has earned a B or better grade in Nursing 101 and has assisted fellow students in learning. The student should demonstrate strong assessment skills, effective communication skills, and respect and caring for the elderly client. The award will be announced at the Nursing Program Recognition Ceremony and awarded during the following academic year or semester.

Peter Nevaldine Endowed Scholarship was established by alumni, family, and friends and is awarded to students in the Engineering Technology or one-year certificate program in the Canino School of Engineering Technology.

Phi Theta Kappa Endowed Scholarship is awarded to a continuing student with a minimum GPA of 3.75 who has demonstrated leadership qualities and has participated in college and community activities. The candidates must complete an application form, but do not have to be a member of Phi Theta Kappa to qualify for the scholarship.

Plumbing, Heating, and Piping Contractors of Northern New York Endowed Scholarship was created by the Plumbing, Heating, and Piping Contractors of Northern New York, Inc. and is awarded to an entering student from Jefferson, Lewis, or St. Lawrence County in the HVAC Trades curriculum and has financial need.

SUNY Canton Presidential Scholarship. Minimum of a 94 or 3.8 GPA to qualify. Preferred SAT/ACT is 1270/25. Students must live on campus and maintain a 2.5 GPA as a full-time student. Eligibility is a 4-year maximum.

Preston C. Carlisle Annual Scholarship is sponsored by Preston C. Carlisle and awarded to a student from St. Lawrence County.

The Professor Dr. Thomas and Virginia Duda Memorial Scholarship was established by Virginia Duda to honor her husband, Dr. Thomas Duda who was a Distinguished Professor Emeritus of the School of Business and Liberal Arts. He first joined the SUNY Canton family in 1984. He made countless educational contributions and helped many students during his tenure with the College. He was full of life and known for his terrific sense of humor. The scholarship will be awarded to a student in a two- or four-year Business curriculum with a minimum 2.0 GPA. It is intended for a non-traditional student.

The purpose of this scholarship fund shall be to provide scholarship support to an incoming freshman that is self-identified as a black individual with financial need.

The Rachael M. and Leon E. Bagley Scholarship was established in 2000 as a memorial tribute to Rachael’s mother and Leon’s sister-in-law by Rachael M. and Leon E. Bagley (deceased 2006). The scholarship will go to graduates of Madrid or Edwards/Knox Schools, preferably two from each school district. If there are no suitable candidates, preference will be given to students from St. Lawrence County.

Richard C. King Endowed Scholarship was created by Dori K. Lyons in memory of her late father and is awarded to an outstanding continuing student in the Veterinary Science Technology program. Financial need may be considered.

Richard W. Miller Endowed Scholarship was established by Professor Emeritus Richard W. Miller and is awarded to both entering and continuing students in the Electrical Engineering Technology curriculum or another technology curriculum.

The Richard W. Miller Excellence Award is presented to a continuing student from the Canino School of Engineering Technology who has demonstrated academic excellence.

Robert A. Noble, Sr. Endowed Scholarship was created by Robert A. Noble, Jr., and is awarded to a continuing student in an Engineering or Nursing curriculum.

Robert W. and Helen Flanders Farmer Endowed Scholarship was created by Helen Flanders Farmer and Robert W. Farmer and is awarded to an entering student who is a graduate of Tupper Lake High School. Financial need is a consideration. If there is no qualified freshman, the scholarship may be awarded to a second year student (sophomore).

The scholarship is awarded to a first-generation college student who enriches their education by becoming a leader on campus while pursuing their studies. Recipients may be enrolled in any major or degree program. The recipient will demonstrate the leadership criterion by serving as an officer or member of the board of a campus club or organization, including Greek organizations, or a campus-wide advisory board. Preference will be given to an individual who continues to be involved in various capacities in other organizations while holding a leadership position in at least one organization. The recipient must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 to be awarded with this scholarship. The scholarship recipient may receive the scholarship for consecutive years provided the recipient continues to meet the scholarship requirements.

Rosa Dixon Allied Health Endowed Scholarship was established in 1998 in memory of her mother by Mrs. Dine Dixon Kennedy, wife of SUNY Canton’s third president, Dr. Joseph Lane Kennedy. The scholarship shall be awarded annually to an entering or continuing student in an Allied Health curriculum who demonstrates financial need and evidence of commitment to community service.

Rosanna Mae Moser Endowed Scholarship was created by Professor Emerita Moser and is awarded to an international student majoring in Business with financial need.

The Saguaro Endowed Scholarship was established by Donald H. Biele `73 and is awarded to a student with financial need.

The Scozzafava-Dier Scholarship shall be awarded to a graduating senior with the highest GPA from Gouverneur Central School who will be attending SUNY Canton.

The SeaComm FCU Financial Literacy Endowed Scholarship is awarded to a deserving student from St. Lawrence, Franklin, or Clinton County who actively studies and participates in a field of financial literacy. The scholarship recipient shall be a student who excels in the classroom and demonstrates a willingness to help teach and lead others along the way. The student must have and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 to earn and retain this award. The student must major or minor in a business related field, with a preference to: Finance, Accounting, Business Administration and Management. The ideal recipient demonstrates his or her ability to balance college academics with community outreach, by sharing the financial knowledge learned in classes with the greater college and local community. This may be done through participation in the Financial Literacy Center, or other similar endeavor. SeaComm Federal Credit Union was founded in 1963 by ten employees of the General Motors Corporation in Massena, New York. Each of the ten founders invested $5 to obtain a share in the credit union. In its over 50 years of operation, SeaComm FCU has expanded across Northern New York, with branches in Massena, Potsdam, Canton, Ogdensburg, Malone, and Plattsburgh. SeaComm FCU strives to be a leader in the financial sector, but also a leader in community engagement and philanthropy. The Credit Union wishes to honor a student who exhibits these qualities. The Sheila Smith ’82 Endowed Scholarship for Women in STEM was established in 2016 in recognition of the opportunities an education from SUNY Canton provides students studying science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. it is awarded annually to a freshman or continuing female student in a STEM-related program. These programs include, but are not limited to: all programs in the Canino School of Engineering, Veterinary Science, and Veterinary Technology.

The Simona Szafran Endowed Scholarship is awarded to a deserving SUNY Canton student in any year and any program at the college, with preference to a student enrolled in the Early Childhood Development Program. Simona Szafran was a teacher of 1st and 2nd grade children at the Syracuse Hebrew Day School for many years. She strongly believed in the power of education to help all students have a brighter future, and dedicated herself to helping students be successful. She would have wanted to help any college student in need to pursue and complete a college degree.

The St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union Scholarship is awarded to a deserving student from St. Lawrence County who actively studies and participates in any field of study at SUNY Canton.

St. Lawrence State Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship was created by the St. Lawrence State Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association and is awarded to a returning senior Nursing student who has demonstrated empathy, leadership, and patient advocacy.

Stanley Cohen Endowed Scholarship was created as a tribute to his basketball coach, Stanley Cohen, by Robert C. Rogers `60. The scholarship is awarded to students in the Sports Management curriculum who have demonstrated exemplary academic achievement, demonstrated financial need, and are United States citizens.

The Stitt family would like this scholarship to support a North Country resident who desires to continue his/her educational pursuits at SUNY Canton. The recipient of this scholarship should be a graduate of Heuvelton Central School or Ogdensburg Free Academy who reflects and embodies the qualities that Wes brought to the North Country – energy, commitment to higher education and a desire to improve the lives of those around him. If no eligible candidate from Heuvelton or Ogdensburg school district can be found, preference will be given to a student from St. Lawrence County.

Stuart B. Dragon Endowed Scholarship was established by Mr. and Mrs. Stuart B. Dragon and is annual scholarship awarded to an entering student from Clinton County.

This scholarship is sponsored by the SUNY Canton Veteran’s Association and John L. Halford, Sr. `49. It will be awarded to a veteran or spouse/child of a veteran who has received an honorable discharge from any branch of the United States Armed Forces. The following is the priority ranking for awarding the scholarship: (1) Purple heart recipient; (2) combat veteran wounded in action; (3) spouse or child of veteran killed in action; (4) combat veteran; (5) veteran who served overseas but did not see combat action; (6) veteran who served in the continental United States; or (7) direct spouse or child of a veteran.

SUNY Canton/Empire State Diversity Honors Scholarship is awarded to both entering and continuing students who are Native American, African American, Hispanic, or economically disadvantaged. Participants must be NYS residents. Eligible students must be enrolled in a degree program and demonstrated high academic achievement. Continuing/returning students must maintain 2.75 GPA and entering students must have 85 or higher to obtain.

The SUNY Canton/Empire State Diversity Honors Scholarships are awarded annually to students of a diverse background who have a high school average of B or better, who have participated in extracurricular activities, and have been recommended by high school officials. To receive the scholarship for a second year, the student must be attending SUNY Canton full time and earn at least a 2.75 grade point average.

Susanne Connick Merritt Endowed Scholarship was created by Mr. and Mrs. Paul E. Merritt and Mrs. Merritt’s students and is awarded to a continuing student in a Business curriculum who has completed at least two semesters of full-time study at SUNY Canton. Preference is given to students who participate in extracurricular activities, on and off campus..

T. J. Toyota and Cloce Family Endowed Scholarship was created by the Cloce Family and their company, T.J. Toyota of Potsdam, and is awarded to an Automotive Technology student.

Student will be enrolled in the Funeral Services Administration B-Tech degree program in the School of Science, Health and Criminal Justice. The recipient must be the first in his/her family to pursue Funeral Services as a career. Recipient must be in good academic standing.

The Arthur Grabowski Memorial Annual Scholarship in Mortuary Science was established with a gift by J.T. Sprock in August, 2020 to support students who might not otherwise have the financial ability to attend college to earn their degree. The Annual Scholarship will be awarded to two non-traditional students and/or have demonstrated severe financial need; Be enrolled or planning to enroll in the Mortuary Science degree program; Have submitted a letter to the Mortuary Science Department Scholarship committee applying for the scholarship and describing his/her financial need.

The purpose of this scholarship shall be to provide support to qualified students that meet the following criteria: Resident of Oneida, Verona, Vernon, or Sherrill, NY. Demonstrated financial need, student remains in good academic standing, with no violations of the University Code of Conduct.

The Dale Major ’70 Annual Scholarship was established by Dale Major to provide scholarship support to qualified, deserving undergraduate students from the Oneida and Verona, NY areas.

Established in August, 2020 by David and Susan Penepent to support students who might not otherwise have the financial ability to attend college to earn their degree. The annual scholarship will be awarded to a non-traditional student and/or have demonstrated severe financial need; enrolled or planning to enroll in the Mortuary Science degree program; have submitted a letter to the Mortuary Science Department Scholarship committee applying for the scholarship and describing his/her financial need.

The David V. Guccione Annual Scholarship was created by The Guccione Family to honor (their brother) Professor Emeritus David V. Guccione. The scholarship will be awarded annually to a senior Criminal Justice or Criminal Investigation student who enrolls in the David A. Sullivan Police Academy in the final semester of study. Secondary consideration will be given to a student who enrolls in the Correction Academy. A recipient will be recommended for the scholarship by the Criminal Justice Faculty. The scholarship provides $500 in financial assistance for expenses excluding tuition up to the cost of attendance.

The Day & Nite All Service Annual Scholarship was created by Day & Nite All Service to assist a student enrolled in the HVAC Engineering Technology, Air Conditioning Maintenance and Repair, Heating and Plumbing Service, or Mechatronics curricula. The purpose of this scholarship is to promote and encourage the study of, and provide access to, the HVAC field.

The Denice Glascock Button Women in Accounting Endowed Scholarship was created by Dave Button to honor the positive effect SUNY Canton has had on their lives and to provide that opportunity to other students. The scholarship will be awarded to continuing female students who are enrolled full-time in an Accounting program at SUNY Canton, who are making satisfactory academic progress, and who are committed to building a better community.

The Fergal I. `80 and Colleen Foley Endowed Scholarship was created by the Foleys to assist a student in the Emergency Management curriculum. Preference will be given to a student in this major who is also a United States military veteran.

The Foundation Partners Group Mortuary Science Annual Scholarship was created by the Foundation Partners Group, a leading provider of innovative funeral and cemetery experiences. Foundation Partners Group is committed to supporting mortuary science education – the future of our profession. The Scholarship is awarded to a Funeral Services student who demonstrates our Five Unique Truths of Partnership, Relationships, Innovation, Compassion, and People-Focused.

The Haig Family Scholarship Endowment was created by Walter ’89 and Elizabeth ’88 Haig to honor the positive effect SUNY Canton has had on their lives and to provide that opportunity to other students. The scholarship will be awarded to continuing students who are enrolled full-time in an academic program at SUNY Canton, who are making satisfactory academic progress, and who will benefit from the scholarship. In endowing this scholarship, the Haig family’s intent is to provide assistance to worthy individuals who will appreciate the value of a college education.

The James ’77 and Susan Waters Endowed Scholarship was established by the Waters family to provide funds to help students receive a technical and experiential education at SUNY Canton. The scholarship may be awarded to a new or continuing student enrolled in the Civil Engineering Technology A.A.S. program, or the Civil and Environmental Engineering Technology B. Tech. program. The scholarship recipient should also demonstrate financial need. Should a student meeting these qualifications not be found, the scholarship may be awarded to a student enrolled in another degree program at SUNY Canton who also demonstrates financial need.

The Joel Lynde – Strive for Excellence Award was established with a gift by Chris Morrissey, Class of 1994, as a living tribute to Joel Lynde, Delta Kappa Sigma fraternity brother. Joel Lynde was one of four Delta Kappa Sigma brothers who were killed in March 1994 in a tragic car accident. Joel was from Gouverneur and came to SUNY Canton to study Air Conditioning Engineering Technology. Mr. Morrissey was a fraternity brother as well as a classmate in Air Conditioning Engineering Technology. The Joel Lynde – Strive for Excellence Award will be given to a student in a two-year Engineering program with preference to the Air Conditioning Engineering Technology.

The purpose of this scholarship fund is to honor the lives of John A. and Shirley Ann Spellacy, the loving parents of SUNY Canton Professor Karen Spellacy. In recognition of Mr. and Mrs. Spellacy’s long and varied careers and their spirit of entrepreneurship and stewardship for their community, the fund shall provide scholarship support to qualified, deserving undergraduate students enrolled or planning to enroll at SUNY Canton in the School of Business and Liberal Arts. Demonstrated financial need. Evidence of leadership and community engagement, as demonstrated through participation in campus organizations or events, and/or volunteer work on campus or in the students’ home community. Student remains in good academic standing, with no violations of the University Code of Conduct.

The purpose of this scholarship is to provide support to a student that meets the following criteria: Preference given to a student who demonstrates an entrepreneurial spirit or creative business mind, a student interested in entrepreneurship, and a student that has remained in good academic standing, with no violations of the University Code of Conduct.

Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to undergraduate students who are enrolled or planning to enroll in any program at SUNY Canton who meet the following criteria: A. Enrolled or planning to enroll at SUNY Canton in the Canino School of Engineering Technology. B. Demonstrated financial need. C. Evidence of good citizenship and community engagement, such as participation in campus organizations or events, and/or volunteer work on campus or with events or organizations in the student’s home community.

This scholarship is intended to support SUNY Canton students who have shown great character, determination, and a strong sense of purpose through overcoming adversity and are committed to improving the lives of others, as evidenced through their volunteer activity, community involvement, and civic engagement, either on campus or in events and activities in their home communities.

The purpose of this scholarship fund shall be to provide scholarship support to qualified, deserving undergraduate students enrolled in the Nursing A.A.S program at SUNY Canton.

The Massena High School Alumni Endowed Scholarship is awarded to a Massena High School graduate with financial need enrolled in any two or four-year program at SUNY Canton. The recipient will be selected by the campus Scholarship Committee / Scholarship Administrator from a pool of applicants recommended by the Massena High School Guidance Department.

The purpose of this scholarship shall be to support a student who is enrolled or planning to enroll in a Nursing Program at SUNY Canton, who demonstrates financial need.

The purpose of this fund shall be to provide support to deserving undergraduate black students from New York City’s five boroughs who have participated in extracurricular leadership opportunities while enrolled in a degree program in their first year at SUNY Canton.

This scholarship will provide support to a non-traditional student who is enrolled or planning to enroll in an A.A.S. or B.B.A program at SUNY Canton, preference given to a student in Nursing or Healthcare Management, with financial need. Preference given to a student who is a single parent.

Robert McKenty and Family Scholarship is sponsored by Robert McKenty and is awarded annually to two students: one student is to be enrolled in Construction related programs, and one scholarship is to be awarded to a student with financial need.

The Rosella Todd Valentine ’68 Endowed Scholarship was created by Rosella Todd Valentine to assist other students in obtaining a first-class education at SUNY Canton. Preference will be given to a student enrolled at SUNY Canton in a business degree program (For example, Business Administration, Management, or Accounting) and who is a resident of the North Country.

The Rosser Family Endowed Scholarship will be given to someone currently in or entering one of the following curricula: business, health-related, education-related, construction-related or public service. Additionally, the student must be from either Western New York or Northern New York. Further preference will be given to a student from any of the following school districts: Orchard Park (NY), Hugh C. Williams Senior High School (Canton, NY), or St. Lawrence Central (Brasher Falls, NY), but is open to all qualified traditional and non-traditional students. This scholarship may be re-awarded annually to the previous year’s recipient, dependent upon maintaining the required minimum GPA. This scholarship should based on merit and character

Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to undergraduate students pursuing a degree in Business Administration at SUNY Canton who meet the following additional criteria: A. Enrolled in Business Administration A.S. or A.A.S program. B. Priority is given to a student who attended Belleville Henderson Central School, if that is not possible, then a student who is a resident of Jefferson County, NY. C. Has and maintains a 3.0 GPA. D. Demonstrated financial need.

The SUNY Canton Jefferson County Endowed Scholarship will be awarded annually to a student from Jefferson County. The recipient may keep the scholarship for up to four years, provided he/she remains in good academic standing and is not found guilty of academic dishonesty or violating the University Student Code of Conduct.

The p urpose of this scholarship fund is to provide scholarship support to qualified, deserving female undergraduate students enrolled or planning to enroll at SUNY Canton, pursuing a four-year degree in engineering. Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to: An incoming female freshman or transfer student, who displays evidence of community engagement such as participation in campus organizations or events, end/or volunteer work on or off campus. This scholarship is retainable for up to 4 years.

The Tiberio Family Endowed Scholarship in Memory of Lena Chadwich was provided by Mark Tiberio `83. It will be awarded annually to a student studying business (including finance, management, etc.) at SUNY Canton and whose high school cumulative grade point average is 3.0 or greater. Preference shall be given to students who plan to major in accounting and financial need is a consideration.

Timothy M. and Mary Lou Ashley Family Endowed Scholarship is sponsored by Timothy and Mary Lou Ashley as a tribute to the Ashley family. The scholarship shall be awarded to an entering student from St. Lawrence County. Students entering in one of the following areas will be given first preference for the award: Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or Liberal Arts.

The Tod Flanagan Scholarship shall be awarded annually to a deserving student demonstrating financial need, who is enrolled in the HVAC Engineering Technology curriculum, Electrical Engineering Technology curriculum, or HVAC Trades.

Tougher Industries, Inc. Endowed Scholarship was created by Elizabeth and William Tougher and Tougher Industries, Inc., and is awarded to an entering freshman student who enrolls in the Air Conditioning Engineering Technology curriculum and who demonstrates financial need.

The purpose of this scholarship shall be to provide scholarship support to a student who is enrolled or planning to enroll in an associate’s or bachelor’s degree program at SUNY Canton. Consideration for this scholarship will be given to a student who meets the following criteria: Demonstrate a financial need, underrepresented student, strong evidence of volunteer work on or off campus and/or participation in campus organization or events. Preference given to students with challenging circumstances, and the student shall remain in good academic standing, with no violations of the University Code of Conduct.

SUNY Canton Transfer Merit Scholarship. Student must be a transfer with a minimum of a 2.5 GPA to qualify. The FAFSA must be completed, as financial need is a requirement for this scholarship. Students do not have to live on campus, but must maintain a 2.5 GPA as a full-time student.

Varick A. Chittenden Book Scholarship is sponsored by Distinguished Faculty Emeritus Varick A. Chittenden and is awarded annually to a continuing student from the North Country enrolled in their 2nd year (sophomore).

Virginia McAllister Endowed Award for Excellence in Nursing was created by Virginia McAllister and is awarded annually to a returning nursing student who has demonstrated academic and clinical excellence. The award is presented at Honors Convocation in the spring.

The W. H. Swart `51 – Veteran Recognition Endowed Scholarship will be awarded to a veteran who has received an honorable discharged from any of the armed forces of the United States. There should be a priority ranking in case more than one person qualifies for the scholarship. The following are priorities for awarding the scholarship: Combat veteran wounded in action or a child of a veteran killed in action; Unwounded combat veteran; Veteran who graduated from Deposit Central High School, Deposit, New York; Veteran who served oversees but did not see combat action; Veteran who served in the continental United States; or Direct child, nephew, or niece of a veteran.

W. Stanley and Alice E. Richardson Endowed Scholarship was established by W. Stanley Richardson as a memorial tribute to his wife and business partner, Alice McIntosh Richardson. The scholarship is awarded to a continuing student from St. Lawrence County who is enrolled in a Business curriculum.

Walter R. Kingston Scholarship was created by Dr. William Kingston and his wife, Dr. Anne Moss, in memory of Dr. Kingston’s father, Professor Emeritus Walter R. Kingston. The scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman who has been accepted into the Automotive Technology program, has demonstrated financial need, and exemplifies Walter’s commitment to hard work and education. Preference shall be accorded, but not limited to, candidates from Canton and St. Lawrence County.

William & Beatrice Schermerhorn Endowed Scholarship was established by Beatrice Schermerhorn and is awarded to a continuing student majoring in a Veterinary Science Technology curriculum who demonstrates a humane ethic and a personal commitment to animals.

William C. Cooper Endowed Scholarship was created by the College Association, Inc., family, and friends in memory of William Cooper. The scholarship is awarded to an entering student in Business or Computer Information Systems who is a resident of Otsego or St. Lawrence Counties. Financial need may be a consideration.

William C. Vining and Dr. Judson R. Vining Endowed Scholarship was created by Professor Emerita Margaret Vining in tribute to her husband and father in-law and is awarded to an entering student in the Nursing program.

Bill and Kathleen Demo and Family Endowed Scholarship was created by Bill and Kathleen Demo and is awarded annually to both an entering and returning student who is a graduate of Brasher Falls Central School or if no qualified candidates, a student from St. Lawrence or Franklin Counties. Financial need may be a consideration. May retain if student meets the GPA requirements.

William J. and JoAnne M. Fassinger Endowed Scholarship was created by Dr. and Mrs. Fassinger and is awarded to a transfer student from a New York State two-year learning institution who wants to major in Criminal Investigation and has demonstrated financial need.

The William J. Pacacha Annual Scholarship is awarded annually to two students. A student who demonstrates financial need is preferred. The students must be majoring in any of the following areas: Finance (B.B.A.), Management (B.B.A.), Accounting (A.A.S.), Business Administration (A.A.S.), or Sports Management (B.B.A.). The Donor prefers that one recipient is on track to receive an associate’s degree, the other, a bachelor’s degree. If no student’s credentials match the criteria for this award, a student may be chosen from another major. William J. Pacacha enjoyed a successful college career at SUNY Canton, receiving an A.A.S. in Banking, Insurance and Real Estate in 1969 and playing basketball under Coach Stan Cohen. Mr. Pacacha credits his undergraduate experience for much of his professional achievement in the banking industry and wishes this scholarship award be given to two students each year with similar academic interests in business.

Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to undergraduate students who are enrolled or planning to enroll in an associate’s or bachelor’s degree program at SUNY Canton who meet the following additional criteria: Demonstrated financial need, excellence in Math or Chemistry. Preference given to a student enrolled in an engineering related program. Secondary preference is given to a health science or business major. Student remains in good academic standing, with no violations of the university code of conduct.

The purpose of this fund shall be to provide scholarship support to a female student who is enrolled or planning to enroll in an Electrical Engineering Technology-related degree program at SUNY Canton.

Woodcock Family Endowed Scholarship was created by Ronald L. `59 and Blanche K. `06 Woodcock and is awarded to both entering and continuing students with financial need, with first preference to candidates from St. Lawrence County and second preference to student from Onondaga County. Two scholarships are restricted to those enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering field and the two others will be awarded to students enrolled in any curriculum, with special preference to women. Financial need will be the primary consideration.

Woodside Family Endowed Scholarship was established by Thomas and Claire Woodside and is awarded to either an entering or continuing student in the Air Conditioning Engineering Technology curriculum. Second preference would be to a student in either the Sustainable Energy Technology or Mechanical Engineering curriculum. First preference given to students from St. Lawrence County with second preference to Erie County. Financial need is considered.

The Zachary R. Tartell ’15 Nursing Scholarship is awarded annually to a nontraditional student entering his or her second year in the Associate’s Degree in Nursing program demonstrating an interest in critical care and cardiac medicine. Preference will be given to a student with a minimum 3.0 GPA. This is one year award.

The Zeta Alpha Phi Fraternity established this endowment in order to provide students the opportunity to further their leadership potential. The Zeta Alpha Phi Fraternity Student Leadership Initiative Endowment will support a student scholarship for an individual who has exhibited leadership qualities. Preference given to students who have or plan to be involved in campus activities, must have/maintain a 2.5 cumulative grade point average, and have financial need.

Canton Area Zonta Club Scholarship is sponsored by the Canton Area Zonta Club and is awarded to a returning senior student who is a single parent with potential for success who resides in St. Lawrence County. Must have financial need.
