This College of Nursing scholarship is award to a graduate student (full-time only). Merit based with a GPA >= 3.0. Other criteria as determined by the Health Sciences Fellowship Committee; $3,000 per year per individual. Renewable one time if recipient continues to meet the criteria. Must disburse across 2 semesters – not for a December graduate.

The Brody Scholarship is a full tuition, 4-year scholarship for incoming students to the Brody School of Medicine. Other criteria deemed appropriate by the college scholarship selection committee in accordance with College and University guidelines.

The purpose of this College of Nursing scholarship fund is to establish a scholarship for a full-time honors student that is enrolled in the ECU College of Nursing. Preference will be given to those students who show an interest in a career in maternal/child health. The recipient of this scholarship will receive this award, along with the ECU Honors College Scholarship during their duration of nursing school. The student should receive no less than $2,000 per year from this fund. If the student should drop out of ECU, drop out of the Honors College or change their intended major away from nursing, they will no longer be eligible for this scholarship. If there are available funds, this scholarship may be awarded to multiple recipients.

Recipients will communicate directly with the UNC TEACCH Center Director to schedule arrangements for the professional development prior to accepting the financial award. If the TEACCH program no longer exists, the College of Education can approve an alternate location to complete the PD hours. Professional Development can take place as the recipient’s schedule allows in the window between May (after notice of award) and the end of the following spring semester). Recipient is required to complete at least 10 days of professional development at TEACCH Center in Greenville. Recipient will also be given opportunity to attend one professional development opportunity selected by the SPED area coordinator of training sponsored by division TEACCH or by the Autism Society of NC. In addition, the recipient, along with one faculty member in the Special Education program area, will be given the opportunity to visit GHA in Albermarle, NC for a day of professional development. It is awarded annually to an East Carolina University student with a declared major in Anthropology. The scholarship provides support for incoming students who are intended Nursing majors and who also have been admitted to the University’s Honors College. This is a one-time, non-renewing scholarship. Recipients of this scholarship should have an expressed interest in pediatric nursing and should have a strong service background. In order to receive the disbursement of funds, recipients must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 undergraduate credit hours. The scholarship is disbursed as one-half for the fall semester and one-half for the spring semester. In order to receive the spring disbursement, recipients must have a 3.5 overall GPA at the end of the fall semester.

This College of Business is to provide scholarship support for students in the School of Hospitality Leadership who is a Hospitality Management major rising senior and has a GPA of > 2.5. The recipient must have evidence of engagement in school activities and programs (clubs, volunteer activities, etc. within ECU), and commitment to a career in hospitality. The David J. Smith Leadership award was established in 2010 to honor David Smith, a fallen Marine and proud Pirate. David was killed in action while in combat operations in Afghanistan in January of 2010. As a rising senior at East Carolina University, David pursued a degree in Industrial Distribution and Logistics with an anticipated graduation in 2011. While a student at ECU, David embodied the school motto of “servire” by remaining active in the community and serving in the Marine Corps as a Sergeant. David was very proud to be a member of the ECU family and demonstrated exceptional patriotism for his country. This Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences scholarship is for Biology majors. The purpose of the fund is to provide general scholarship support to undergraduate students enrolled in the Department of Biology. Awarded based upon academic ability. Gerhard W. Kalmus was born in Berlin, Germany. He received his BS from the University of California at Berkeley and his PhD from Rutgers University. He joined the Department of Biology in 1977. His research expertise is in embryology, with a focus on teratological changes resulting from exposure to alcohol. He also served as Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department before becoming the Director of Graduate Studies. In recognition of his service to the Biology Club and to undergraduates, a scholarship award for outstanding undergraduates was established in 1980. His roles as an advisor and as a director of undergraduate and graduate studies demonstrated his dedication and loyalty to the students and to the Department.

The lives of generations of people in the LGBTQ community have gone unrecorded due to homophobia, transphobia, fear, prejudice, and, sadly, shame. The LGBTQ Legacy Project is an effort to capture our stories for future generations who might someday want to know about the lives of our students in the early part of the 21st century. The Dr. Jesse R. Peel LGBTQ Center announces the Fall 2022 essay contest around the theme of coming out. We welcome submissions of personal essays (1000 to 1500 words in length) that tell a story of the coming out experience. Stories might focus on coming out to parents or family members, coming out to allies/friends, coming out on campus to roommates, friends, or teachers – or any important moment in your coming out process, including coming out to and getting comfortable with yourself. The ECU College of Nursing’s Regionally Increasing Baccalaureate Nurses (RIBN) program is designed to improve the health and health outcomes of North Carolinians by enhancing the educational preparation and diversity of the nursing workforce. The program provides a four-year nursing option that concurrently enrolls students in a Community College and a University where they complete both their Associate Degree in Nursing and Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. The Walker Mayo Graduate Scholarship in Psychology is a need-based scholarship awarded to an incoming doctoral student in Psychology with demonstrated financial need and academic excellence who also completed an undergraduate degree at ECU. This College of Health Human Performance scholarship is for rising sophomores, juniors, or seniors majoring in a degree program within the college. First preference will be given to students from the following North Carolina counties: Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Lincoln, Gaston, Iredell, or Rowan. A minimum GPA of 2.75 is required and the student must demonstrate leadership (Examples include: Student Government Association, ROTC, Chancellor’s Student Leadership Academy, ECU Leads, etc.).

The Zaxby’s Access scholarship is open to incoming freshmen in any major. This is a 4-year renewable scholarship awarded to full-time students academic merit and demonstrated financial need.
