Scholarships at Austin Community College District

Purpose: To assist students attending ACC. Criteria: • Minimum 2.5 GPA in high school or college or submit a GED. • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office). Terms of Scholarship: 1. May be used for any program at ACC that leads to a certificate or associate degree. 2. Successfully complete a minimum of six hours each semester with a 2.50 GPA. 3. Scholarship applies to tuition, fees and books. 4. Scholarship must be used within one academic year. 5. Re-application necessary each academic year.

Purpose: To provide assistance to students planning to enter the teaching field. Criteria: • Minimum 3.0 GPA in all college work. Students coming out of high school or holding a GED must achieve a 3.0 GPA their first semester to maintain the scholarship. • May only be used by students planning to enter the teaching field through the Austin Community College Associate of Arts in Teaching program. • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office). Terms of Scholarship: 1. Successfully complete a minimum of six hours each semester while on scholarship and earn a minimum semester GPA of 3.0. 2. Scholarship applies to tuition, fees and books. 3. Scholarship must be used within one academic year. 4. Re-application necessary each academic year.

Purpose: To assist full-time students pursuing a certificate or associate degree at ACC. Criteria: • Minimum 2.25/4.0 GPA or equivalent or submit a GED. • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office). It is recommended students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). • Essay should address how the scholarship will assist the student in becoming or continuing as a full-time student. Terms of Scholarship: 1. Enroll in and complete a minimum of twelve hours with a 2.25 GPA each semester while on scholarship. 2. Scholarship applies to tuition, fees, and books. 3. Scholarship must be used within the academic year it is awarded. 4. Scholarship may be renewed upon satisfactory academic progress, submission of a progress report, and application. 5. Scholarship may be awarded in addition to other scholarships or financial aid to assist the recipient in becoming or continuing as a full-time student.

Purpose: In honor of Austin Community College District counselors, this scholarship recognizes students who seek professional guidance in achieving their educational goals. Criteria: • Students who have completed two or more semesters at ACC with a cumulative 2.5 GPA and 75% completion rate. Students who do not have the required cumulative GPA or completion rate, but who meet that standard for each of the last two semesters are eligible for this award. • Received high school diploma or GED prior to entering ACC. • Written recommendation and approved degree audit from at least one ACC counselor. If undecided, may submit counselor recommended plan, such as Core Curriculum courses. • Complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); information can be obtained in the Financial Aid Office. If you cannot submit this application, please explain the circumstances in your essay. • Submit an essay of 300 words or more explaining educational and career goals, and how you have effectively reached out to others for guidance. Terms of Scholarship: 1. Successfully complete at least six hours each semester while on scholarship and earn a semester GPA of 2.5 and completion rate of 75%. 2. Re-application necessary each year. 3. Meet with an ACC Counselor at least twice per semester while on scholarship. 4. Scholarship must be used within one academic year.

Purpose: To assist students in the Continuing Education Fast Track programs at ACC. Criteria: • Enrolling in a Fast Track Continuing Education Program at ACC that leads to a license or industry certification. • Scholarship is open to everyone, however, preference will be given to female applicants so long as such preference does not significantly detract from Austin Community College’s non-discriminatory policies. • Financial need as determined by the Continuing Education Scholarship Committee. Terms of Scholarship: 1. Successfully complete your approved Continuing Education Program. 2. Scholarship applies to the cost of the enrolled program.

Purpose: To assist students attending ACC in a program leading to a certificate or associate degree. Criteria: • Minimum 2.5 GPA in high school or college or submit a GED. • Students must be Pell eligible. Terms of Scholarship: 1. May be used for any program at ACC that leads to a certificate or associate degree. 2. Successfully complete a minimum of six hours with a 2.5 GPA each semester. 3. Scholarship applies to tuition, fees, books, and required supplies. 4. Scholarship must be used within one academic year.

Purpose: To assist students currently serving as a Riverbat mascot. Criteria: • Actively served as an ACC Riverbat mascot for a minimum of one semester. • Minimum of 2.0 GPA in college work or have received their high school diploma or GED. • Enrolled in a certificate or degree program at ACC. • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office). It is recommended students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Terms of Scholarship: 1. May be used for any program at ACC that leads to a certificate or associate degree or college transfer. 2. Successfully complete a minimum of six hours with a 2.0 GPA each semester while on scholarship 3. Scholarship must be used within one academic year.

Purpose: To assist students of Hispanic heritage attending ACC. Criteria: • Reside within the ACC service area. • Have at least a 2.25 overall GPA or GED equivalency as a first-time, former, or current ACC student. • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office). Terms of Scholarship: 1. Successfully complete a minimum of six hours each semester with a 2.25 GPA. 2. Attend the TACHE scholarship reception. 3. Accept an ACC TACHE mentor. 4. Scholarship applies to tuition, fees, and books. 5. Scholarship must be used within one academic year.

Purpose: To assist students attending ACC. Terms of Scholarship: 1. Successfully complete a minimum of nine hours with a 3.0 GPA. 2. Scholarship applies to tuition, fees and books. 3. Scholarship must be used within one academic year. 4. Purpose: To assist students pursuing an Associate Degree in Nursing at ACC. Criteria: • Accepted into and enrolled in the ACC Associate Degree of Nursing program or entering second year of the program. • Minimum 2.5 GPA overall. • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office). Terms of Scholarship: 1. Successfully complete the required semester hours in the nursing curriculum with a minimum 2.5 GPA. 2. Scholarship applies to tuition, fees, and nursing program expenses (immunizations, uniforms, equipment, board exams….) 3. Scholarship must be used within one academic year.

Purpose: To assist students enrolled in an Applied Science program at Austin Community College. Criteria: • 2.5 GPA in high school or college or submit a GED. • Minimum of 12 college credit hours. • Register in an Applied Science certificate or degree program at ACC. • Financial need (as determined by ACC Financial Aid Office). Terms of Scholarship: 1. Accept a mentor from Assistance League® of Austin. 2. Scholarship will apply to tuition, fees, and books up to the designated amount. 3. Submit degree plan. 4. Enroll in and successfully complete a minimum of six hours on degree plan with a 2.5 GPA each semester while on scholarship. 5. Scholarship must be used within one academic year. 6. A student may re-take a course one time while on scholarship. The scholarship will not pay for any course a student enrolls in three or more times. 7. If student is awaiting acceptance to an Applied Sciences program and has completed the required pre-requisite courses, the student may take courses applicable to a baccalaureate degree with the following conditions: a. Student must provide degree plan from intended college or university to ensure the coursework is applicable for their desired 4 year degree. b. Student may take up to two semesters of coursework toward a baccalaureate degree while waiting admission to an ACC Applied Science program. Student will not receive scholarship funds for more than two semesters of coursework not on their ACC degree plan.

Purpose: To assist students enrolled in the ACC Music Program who show musical ability in guitar. Criteria: • Minimum 2.5 GPA in Music courses and 2.5 GPA overall. • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office). • One letter of recommendation from a classical guitar instructor • An essay indicating musical background and future goals. Terms of Scholarship: 1. Scholarship applies to tuition, fees, books, and supplies. 2. Successfully complete a minimum of nine hours with a 3.0 GPA in Music courses and a 2.5 overall GPA each semester while on scholarship. 3. Purpose: To assist graduates of Stephen F. Austin High School attending ACC. Criteria: • Graduation from Stephen F. Austin High School in Austin, Texas • Minimum 2.5 GPA in high school or college. • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office). Terms of Scholarship: 1. May be used for any program at ACC that leads to a certificate or associate degree. 2. Successfully complete a minimum of six hours with a 2.5 GPA each semester. 3. Purpose: To assist students enrolled in the ACC Hospitality Management or Travel & Tourism program. Criteria: • Hospitality Management or Travel & Tourism major. • Successfully completed at least one course in the Hospitality Management or Travel & Tourism program with a grade of C or better. • Currently enrolled at ACC with an overall 3.0 GPA for all college coursework taken within the last three years. • Include maximum 300 word essay addressing your career goals in the Hospitality field. • Provide one letter of recommendation from a school official, professor, or advisor who can discuss your academic status, academic achievements, and personal qualities such as maturity, motivation, leadership, commitment, and potential for future success. Terms of Scholarship: 1. Recipient chosen by the Hospitality Management Scholarship Committee. 2. Maintain at least a 3.0 GPA each semester and overall. 3. Maintain a minimum grade of C in all Hospitality Management courses during scholarship award. 4. Scholarship applies to tuition, fees, and books. 5. Purpose: To assist students enrolled in ACC Automotive programs. Criteria: • Must be pursuing an associate of applied science degree or certificate in the Automotive Technology or Automotive Collision Repair program at ACC. • Successfully passed one semester (12 credit hours) of automotive courses. • Minimum 2.5 GPA in all college work. • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office). Purpose: To assist students enrolled in the Education Instruction programs at ACC. Criteria: • Minimum 2.5 GPA in high school or college or submit a GED. • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office). • Preference given to students intending to continue their education beyond ACC with Texas Tech University through the TechTeach Program. Terms of Scholarship: 1. Must be pursuing an Associate of Arts in Teaching degree program at ACC. 2. Successfully complete a minimum of six hours with a 2.5 GPA each semester. 3. Purpose: To assist students enrolled in the ACC Visual Communication program. Criteria: • Minimum 2.5 GPA in high school or college or submit a GED. • Submit an essay of 300 words explaining significant challenges they have faced and their educational and career goals. • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office). Student must enroll in at least six hours each semester while on scholarship and earn a minimum semester GPA of 2.5. 3. Scholarship must be used within one academic year.

Purpose: To assist Stephen F. Austin High School graduates attending ACC. Criteria: • Graduation from Stephen F. Austin High School. • Minimum 2.5 GPA in high school or college. • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office). Terms of Scholarship: 1. May be used for any program at ACC that leads to a certificate or associate degree. 2. Successfully complete a minimum of six hours with a 2.5 GPA each semester. 3. Scholarship applies to tuition, fees, books and educational expenses. 4. Scholarship must be used within the academic year awarded.

Purpose: To assist ACC students interested in pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering or a related engineering field at a four year college or university. Criteria: • High school graduate with at least 3.0 GPA out of a 4.0 scale and an A/B average in math and science courses in high school, or have equivalent GED scores. • Enrolled in the ACC Engineering degree program, A & E CAD Civil Engineering Specialization or taking core coursework to transfer to a four year college or university. • In good academic standing at ACC. • U.S. Citizen or legal non-citizen resident. • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office). • Preference given to students who have graduated from a Round Rock ISD high school. Purpose: To assist ACC Phi Theta Kappa members. Criteria: • Minimum 3.0 GPA in all college work. • Essay explaining future goals, career goals, and community involvement. Explain what you have gained from your education at ACC. • Member of Phi Theta Kappa ACC Honor Society. • Worked two or more consecutive semesters before graduation. Attach a letter from current or previous employer stating employment period. Terms of Scholarship: 1. Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA. 2. Scholarship applies to tuition, fees and books. 3. Purpose: To assist African-American students enrolling in the ACC Dance or Drama program. Criteria: • Dance or Drama major. • Must have a high school diploma or GED or 2.5 GPA for all college coursework. • Scholarships are awarded on the basis of scholastic merit, artistic promise, and need for financial assistance. Terms of Scholarship: 1. Recipient chosen by Dance and Drama Department Scholarship Committee. 2. Successfully complete a minimum of 2 courses towards a dance or drama degree plan (includes core classes) with a 2.5 GPA each semester. 3. Scholarship applies to tuition, fees, books and required materials. 4. Recipients must sign an agreement stating specific involvement with the Dance and Drama Department for at least one semester. This involvement may be through performance in technical production or in management and administration.

Purpose: To assist students enrolled in ACC’s Dental Hygiene program who exhibit clinical experience, leadership skills, and a focus on teamwork. Criteria: • Minimum 2.50 GPA in all college work. • Financial need as determined by ACC Office of Financial Aid. • Essay should address why the student has chosen to enter the field of dental hygiene. Terms of Scholarship: 1. Enrolled in required curriculum for the Dental Hygiene program. 2. Maintain a 2.50 GPA overall while on scholarship. 3. Scholarship must be used within the academic year awarded.

Purpose: To assist students enrolled in the ACC Government program. Must be pursuing an Associate of Arts degree program in Government at ACC. 2. Successfully complete a minimum of six hours with a 2.5 GPA each semester. 3. Purpose: To assist students enrolled in the ACC Emergency Services Professions program. Criteria: • Minimum 2.5 GPA in all college work. • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office). Terms of Scholarship: 1. Successfully complete a minimum of six hours with a 2.5 GPA. 2. Scholarship applies to tuition, fees, books and educational expenses. 3. Scholarship must be used within the academic year awarded.

Purpose: To assist students enrolled in ACC’s Computer Studies or Computer Information Technology programs. Criteria: • Minimum 3.0 GPA in all college work. • Pursuing a certificate or associate degree in either program. • Must have completed at least 12 credit hours from the Computer Studies or Computer Information Technology curriculum. In essay, please address your career goals. Terms of Scholarship: 1. Successfully complete a minimum of six hours with a 3.0 GPA each semester while on scholarship. 2. Purpose: To assist students enrolled at ACC. Purpose: To assist students attending ACC who are pursuing a career in Education, Computer Technology or Nursing. Criteria: • Minimum 2.5 GPA in high school or college or submit a GED. • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office). Terms of Scholarship: 1. Successfully complete a minimum of six hours with a 2.5 GPA each semester. 2. Scholarship applies to tuition, fees and books. 3. Scholarship must be used within the academic year awarded

Purpose: To assist students who have an interest in Creative Writing and submit pieces for review. Criteria: • Overall 2.75 GPA and 3.0 GPA in English 1301, English 2307, English 2341 • 15 hours of completed ACC coursework • Successfully completed English Comp. I (ENGL 1301) • Completed at least one ACC creative writing class (English 2307 or English 2341) Terms of Scholarship: 1. Successfully complete courses with a 3.0 GPA. 2. Scholarship applies to tuition, fees, books, and educational expenses. 3. Scholarship must be used within one academic year. To apply: • Attach a cover letter – this is your opportunity to expand on your ambitions as a creative writer and describe what you hope to achieve at ACC and beyond (limit 750 words) • Include a creative writing sample (one prose piece, five to ten pages of screenplay or play, or three poems; limit 3,000 words).

Purpose: To assist students assisted by an organization in the Austin College Access Network (ACAN) attend ACC. Requirements: • Hold a GPA of at least 2.5 in all college work or have earned a high school diploma or GED. • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office). Terms of Scholarship: 1. May be used for any program at ACC that leads to a certificate or associate degree or transfer to a four-year college or university. 2. Successfully complete a minimum of six hours with a 2.5 GPA. 3. Scholarship must be used within the academic year awarded.

Purpose: To assist first generation college students who are focusing on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) programs. Criteria: • First generation in college • Received high school diploma or GED prior to entering ACC • Enrolled in a STEM program at ACC that leads to a certificate, associate degree or transfer to a four-year college or university. • Minimum 2.50 GPA if a continuing student. • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office). Terms of Scholarship: 1. May be used for any STEM program at ACC that leads to a certificate or associate degree or transfer to a four-year college or university. 2. Successfully complete a minimum of six hours with a 2.5 GPA each semester. 3. Scholarship applies to tuition, fees, and books. 4. Scholarship must be used within the academic year awarded.

Criteria: • Dance or Drama major. • Must have graduated high school within the last two years of application and not transferring from another college or university. • Minimum 2.5/4.0 GPA or equivalent in high school. • Awarded on the basis of scholastic merit, artistic promise and need for financial assistance. Terms of Scholarship: 1. Recipient chosen by Dance and Drama Department faculty. 2. Successfully complete a minimum of 2 courses towards a dance or drama degree plan (includes core classes) with a 2.5 GPA each semester. One course must be a dance or drama studio course. 3. Recipients must sign an agreement stating specific involvement with the Dance and Drama Department for at least one semester. This involvement may be through performance, in technical production, or in management and administration. 4. Award must be used within the academic year awarded.

Purpose: To assist students enrolled in the ACC Dance or Drama program. Criteria: • Dance or Drama major. • Minimum 2.5 GPA for all college coursework. • Completed 12 credit hours at ACC, including two courses in drama and/or dance. Awards are based partly on prior involvement with the Dance and Drama Department for at least one semester. • Awarded on the basis of scholastic merit, artistic promise, and need for financial assistance. Secondary Criteria: • When scholarship selections are made, students with GPA’s of 3.0 will be awarded first. Student with GPA’s lower than 3.0 will be awarded if there are remaining funds. These students will be prioritized by the selection committee. Terms of Scholarship: 1. Recipient chosen by Dance and Drama Department Scholarship Committee. 2. Successfully complete a minimum of 2 courses towards a dance or drama degree plan (includes core classes) with a 2.5 GPA each semester. 3. Scholarship applies to tuition, fees, books and required materials. 4. Recipients must sign an agreement stating specific involvement with the Dance and Drama Department for at least one semester. This involvement may be through performance in technical production or in management and administration.

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to students pursuing a degree in nursing. Criteria: • Be accepted into and enrolled in the ACC Associate Degree of Nursing program. • Minimum 2.5 GPA overall. • High Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office). Terms of Scholarship: 1. Successfully complete the required semester hours in the Nursing curriculum with a 2.5 GPA. 2. Scholarship applies to tuition, fees, and other educational expenses. 3. Scholarship must be used within one academic year.

Purpose: To assist students enrolled in the Engineering Technology program under Design, Manufacturing, Construction, and Applied Technologies. Criteria: • Minimum 2.5 GPA in all college work. • Students must be a high school graduate or have a GED. • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office). Terms of Scholarship: 1. Purpose: To assist students attending ACC. Criteria: • Based on applicant’s academic achievement, community involvement, personal statement, leadership, and financial situation. • Reside within the ACC taxing district. • United States Citizen. • Have at least a 2.25 GPA or GED equivalency as a first-time, former, or current ACC student. • Preference is given to first time college students. Terms of Scholarship: 1. Successfully complete a minimum of nine hours with a 2.25 GPA. 2. Scholarship applies to tuition, fees, and books. 3. Scholarship must be used within one academic year.

Purpose: To assist students enrolled in the ACC Music Business, Performance & Technology (MBPT) Program. Awarded to a student enrolled in the ACC Associate Degree of Nursing (ADN) Program. Purpose: To assist students attending ACC who are majoring in Psychology, Sociology or Human Services. Purpose: To assist students enrolled at ACC who have completed at least one developmental course. Criteria: • Completed at least one developmental education course at ACC with a grade of B or better. • Minimum 3.0 GPA in all college work. Terms of Scholarship: 1. Successfully complete a minimum of six hours with a 3.0 GPA. 2. Scholarship must be used within one academic year. 3. Re-application necessary each academic year.

Purpose: To assist students with dyslexia at Austin Community College Criteria: • Minimum 2.5 GPA in high school or college or submit a GED. • Must be enrolled in a certificate or associate degree program or planning to transfer to a four year college or university. • Submit an essay of 300 words explaining the challenges they have faced with dyslexia and their college and career goals. • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office). Secondary Criteria: Priority will be given to students who have dysgraphia in addition to dyslexia. Terms of Scholarship: 1. May be used for any program at ACC that leads to a certificate or associate degree. 2. Student must enroll in at least six hours each semester while on scholarship and earn a minimum semester GPA of 2.5. 3. Scholarship must be used within the academic year awarded.

Purpose: To assist students enrolled in ACC’s Art program. Criteria: • Majoring in Art at ACC. • Minimum 2.75 GPA overall. • Successfully passed at least 6 credit hour in Studio Art at ACC. • Must have a completion rate of at least 70% on attempted course work at ACC. • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office). • Submit a letter of recommendation from a recent art instructor. If you provide their e-mail address on the application, they will receive an e-mail with a link to provide the recommendation letter online. • Submit up to 10 digital images of your works of art. Provide clear, well-lit jpegs, photo size to be 5 × 7 inches up to 12 × 18 inches at 72 pixels per inch. • Include a word.doc list of images with: • Your name, student ID number, email, and phone number. • Title, media, date, and size of each image, numbered to correspond to digital images. Purpose: To assist students pursuing a degree in nursing and a career in providing quality health care. Criteria: • Accepted into and enrolled in the ACC Associate Degree of Nursing program. • Minimum 3.0 GPA overall. • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office). Purpose: To provide recognition and financial assistance to ACC students enrolled in the Architectural and Engineering Computer Aided Design, Architectural Specialization associate degree program. Criteria: • Registered in the Architectural Specialization Associate Degree program. • Minimum 3.5 GPA in all college work. • Completed DFTG 1405, Technical Drafting and DFTG, 2431 Advanced Technologies in Architectural Design and Drafting with a minimum grade of a B. • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office). Criteria: • Minimum 3.0 GPA in high school or college or submit a GED. • Essay should explain what led you to pursue your educational path and the characteristics you possess to make you successful. It should also express what you have gained from your education at ACC and your goals once you graduate or transfer. • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office). In essay, please explain how your abilities, talent, and character will help you in your journey to achieve your goal. Terms of Scholarship: 1. May be used for any program at ACC that leads to a certificate or associate degree or to transfer to a 4-year institution. 2. Purpose: To assist second year students enrolled in the ACC Visual Communication program. Criteria: • Minimum 3.0 GPA overall. • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office). • Must have successfully completed Visual Communication coursework equal to 20 hours toward a degree or 12 hours toward a certificate. • Demonstrated participation in extracurricular activities in the visual communication field, such as Viscom Creatives Art Club. Terms of Scholarship: 1. Maintain a 3.0 GPA overall while on scholarship. 2. Enroll and complete a minimum of nine hours each semester. 3. Scholarship applies to tuition, fees, and books only. 4. May only be used toward a degree or certificate in Visual Communication at ACC. 5. Awarded for one academic year. 6. Re-application necessary each academic year.

Purpose: To assist full-time students pursuing an associate degree at ACC. Criteria: • Minimum 2.25/4.0 GPA or equivalent or submit a GED. • Financial need. (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office) It is recommended students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) • Involvement in the ACC Student Government Association and/or a passion for public service is preferred. Terms of Scholarship: 1. Enroll in and complete a minimum of twelve hours with a 2.25 GPA each semester while on scholarship. 2. Scholarship must be used within the academic year it is awarded. 3. Scholarship may be renewed upon satisfactory academic progress and a new application. 4. Scholarship may be awarded in addition to other scholarships or financial aid.

Purpose: To assist students at ACC who have been in the foster care system and are focusing on an Associate of Applied Science certificate or degree. Criteria: • Enrolled in an Associate of Applied Science program at ACC that leads to a certificate or associate degree. • Minimum 2.5 college GPA. • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office). Terms of Scholarship: 1. May be used for any Associate of Applied Science program at ACC that leads to a certificate or an associate degree. 2.
