Scholarships at The University of Texas at Arlington

The Ballenger family has established a $1,200 scholarship for current active Honors College students majoring in a bachelor’s degree program housed within the College of Business who demonstrate financial need. This scholarship is not renewable. Eligibility Requirements: Full-time active College of Business Honors students who are making sufficient progress toward their Honors degree (generally, this equates to at least 6 hours per academic year); 3.2 cumulative GPA Applicants who do not meet the criteria will not be considered or reviewed.

Honors College The Charles R. Knerr Endowment is established at The University of Texas at Arlington through a generous gift from Mr. Andrew B. Sommerman. The scholarship honors Dr. Charles R. Knerr and his many years of teaching and dedication to students at UTA. The Knerr Scholarship is one annual award of $1000 to be used by the recipient for academic course work. Eligibility: Current, full-time and active Honors College members during the academic year in which the scholarship is awarded; making sufficient progress toward their Honors degree (generally, this equates to at least 6 hours per academic year); have a 3.2 cumulative GPA; must be participating in extracurricular activities. Award Amount: $1,000/year for one year. This scholarship is not renewable. Applicants who do not meet the criteria will not be considered.

This scholarship is available to all qualified graduate students in the education professions regardless of financial need or citizenship status.

The Grace Thornton Leadership Award will be given to incoming freshmen or new transfer students who enroll at UTA full-time (12+ credit hours) and have demonstrated significant leadership and/or earned high level state, national or other awards during their high school or community college experience. Examples of the activities and awards to be considered include national recognition for service, serving as an officer in a statewide organization, or other similar activities and awards. Award Amount: range from $1,000 up to full tuition and fees. New Freshmen: may receive award for up to 4 years total New Transfer: may receive award for up to 2 years total Freshmen students must complete a minimum of 30 UTA hours annually with a 3.0 cumulative GPA to be eligible to renew the award beyond the first year. Transfer students must complete a minimum of 24 UTA hours annually with a 3.25 cumulative GPA to be eligible to renew the award beyond the first year.

The Ida V. Hall and George Kohfeldt Scholarship in Southwestern Studies salutes an undergraduate or graduate student each year, for the student’s interest in and excellent scholarship in relation to the native American heritage of this region. Eligible students will be in Southwestern Studies and/or the numerous related disciplines, including, but not limited to, history, anthropology, political science, art, music, geography, Spanish, English, art history, and the history of cartography. Among the factors considered in the review of applicants are a history of involvement with the Native American community, a strong academic record, and demonstrated financial need. JHG Texas Nursing Scholars will receive $1000 per semester for two semesters. Requirements: Only Campus based students are eligible to apply BSN junior or senior Full time (12 hours course work per semester) maintains 3.5 or higher GPA Must live in the DFW Metro Area Expectations: A schedule of community service and fundraising events will be provided and requested that student volunteer and participate in at least one event per semester. The student will be asked to write a brief testimonial explaining what the JHG Texas Nursing Scholarship means to the recipient. Financial Aid/Scholarships. The President’s Outreach Scholarship recognizes high achieving entering freshmen who have graduated from a public high school in Texas in the top 20% (preferred) or top 25% (considered) of the graduating class. A rigorous academic program of study such as IB designation or AP and/or Honors coursework will also be required. This $2,000 scholarship award may be renewed for up to four years of undergraduate study.

Thanks to a generous endowment recently established by Danny and Margit Stuckler, the Honors College is pleased to announce a new scholarship designated for Honors students. Preference will be given to applicants who have financial need and/or have endured difficult personal circumstances. This scholarship is not renewable. At least one award will be made in the amount of $1000 for 1 year. This scholarship is available to current full-time Honors students in good academic standing. Students must demonstrate a high level of academic aptitude and promise, and must be admitted to the Honors College by the deadline for the application. Applicants who do not meet the criteria will not be considered. Funds will be disbursed to student accounts for the 2022-2023 academic school year.

This very prestigious scholarship is offered through a partnership between Univision and UTA to a determined and resilient student who is committed to make a positive impact in the community after graduation from UTA. This scholarship is open to all incoming freshmen and is renewable for up to three additional years. Applicants must be incoming freshmen who have completed admission to UT Arlington in the fall following high school graduation Applicants must complete the FAFSA or TASFA A recipient must enroll at UTA in full-time status for the duration of the scholarship. Full-time is defined as at least 12 hours or more in fall and spring semesters This scholarship will include a $10,000 annual scholarship generously provided by Univision and a minimum of a $10,000 last dollar annual match from UTA. This match can include federal, state, and institutional grant funds as well as UTA institutional scholarships to ensure recipients receive a minimum of a combined $20,000 scholarship and financial aid package. Two recipients will be selected and notified in March of 2022. Included in the criteria for awarding this scholarship is “demonstrated financial need” which requires the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or The Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA). The Jenkins Garrett Award was established by the children of Jenkins Garrett to honor their father for his generous contributions of Greater Southwestern Studies archival materials to UTA Libraries’ Special Collections Division. The annual award of $500 recognizes the best undergraduate or graduate student paper researched primarily in the Special Collections Division of the UTA Libraries. Application materials will include the essay and a letter of support from the professor of the course in which the essay was written.

Ms. Virginia M. Lepenski has generously provided support for an annual scholarship award of $1,000 to a full-time student majoring in History who has demonstrated financial need. Requirements for this award include a FAFSA submission, junior standing, an overall GPA of 3.5, one or more letters of recommendation, and a personal statement of 500-1,000 words addressing the student’s decision to major in history and their career goals.

The Wayne Watts Scholarship for Aspiring Lawyers is made possible by generous contributions from former AT&T General Counsel and prominent UTA alumnus D. Wayne Watts. This scholarship is designed to provide a full tuition scholarship to students nearing the end of their undergraduate career at UTA who are looking to attend law school and become practicing attorneys. Sophomore, Junior and Senior undergraduate students are welcome to apply. Students who will have only one semester remaining before receiving their undergraduate degree will have the scholarship applied to their final semester only. Students must be able to demonstrate satisfactory academic performance in order to apply for this scholarship. College of Liberal Arts – Music Student scholarships at the discretion of the Director of Jazz Studies at UT Arlington. Recipient must: be currently enrolled at UTA, be a jazz study major, be enrolled full-time (12) hrs – undergrad, (9) hrs – grad, be enrolled in a big band & combo while receiving the scholarship.

Shall be used to award scholarships to undergraduate students who are enrolled in the *pre-licensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) * program and have demonstrated financial need. Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.75 and must maintain that minimum to be eligible for renewal scholarships. The scholarship may cover your entire tuition for one semester. College of Business – Doctoral Scholarship Albert S. Lewie, Jr., earned a BBA (‘68) and an MBA (’69) from UTA and was a faculty member in the Management Department from 1970 to 1982. The fund was established by Albert “Sid” Lewie and his wife Scoot to recognize and reward deserving and academically promising College of Business students.

This scholarship is available to both undergraduate and graduate students who demonstrate academic excellence and financial need with a preference for students who received all or part of their preparatory education in one of the following countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan or Sri Lanka and/or students who take or have taken at least a 3 credit-hour course in South Asian Studies or Urdu Language. Members of the Aligarh Alumni Association of Dallas Fort Worth (AAADFW) work to improve the educational and socio-economic conditions of talented and deserving students in the US and India. Members raise money to support education to assist students in preparing for entrance to Colleges and Universities and in support of scholarships.

College of Science – Health Professions The Allan Saxe Health Related Scholarship is for students enrolled in Nursing or Pre-Med studies. They shall be of a high moral character, have maintained academic excellence, and show promise of success in their chosen health area. Financial need will be considered but will not be the sole determinant. This scholarship will be awarded in the spring 2022 semester and applied to the award recipient’s student account for fall 2022 and spring 2023. The student must be enrolled in fall 2022 and spring 2023 and continue to be in good academic standing to receive the funds from this scholarship. Students graduating in spring or summer 2022 are not eligible to apply.

This is offered through the Scholarships Office. Celebrating family traditions of attending UT Arlington, current students who are directly related to a UT Arlington graduate (child, stepchild, sibling, or grandchild) may apply for this scholarship. The scholarship requires a minimum cumulative UTA GPA of 3.0 and sustained leadership, academic, extracurricular, and community activities.

The Ann H. Benham Endowed Scholarship shall be used for the College of Science to fund scholarships for deserving undergraduate students in the College of Science. This scholarship will be awarded in the spring 2022 semester and applied to the award recipient’s student account in equal disbursements between Fall 2022 and Spring 2023. The student must be enrolled in Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 and continue to be in good academic standing and a COS major to receive this full scholarship award.

College of Liberal Arts – Music Arlington Goodtimes Chorus Endowment shall be used for the benefit of the Department of Music in the College of Liberal Arts to provide awards to students who meet the following criteria: Recipient must be a bass, baritone or tenor vocalist. Recipient must be a Music Major whose emphasis or primary instrument is voice. Awards should be used for tuitions and fees first and remaining balance shall be given to the student.

College of Engineering – Civil Engineering Construction Research Center The Arthur R. Poor Graduate Scholarship was established in January 1991 to honor the memory of the late Arthur R. Poor, Associate Director of the Construction Research Center and Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington. The scholarship provides support for qualified graduate students in the Civil Engineering Department. Recipients must be pursuing a Master’s degree or PhD in CE, have unconditional admission, and be a US citizen or permanent resident. Master’s students must have a 3.2 GPA on their last 60 hours of major undergraduate course work and a 300 GRE. PhD students must have a 3.5 GPA on courses taken during their Master’s program and a 320 GRE.

College of Engineering – Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department: The ASME Scholarship is open to all members of the UTA student chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). • Must have a total of 12 ‘active member’ points or more as determined by the ASME officers • Write an essay about their experience in ASME, how they want it to progress, and do they want to become an officer and why (give examples) • Preference to non-officer member, ideally seeking officer role

College of Liberal Arts. The Barbara Jordan Scholarship was established in 2005 by the Greater Arlington/Mansfield Democratic Women. Barbara Jordan, the first woman elected to the Texas Senate and the first African-American elected to represent Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives, supported public education, decent housing, civil rights, gender equality, a living wage and protection of the environment. The scholarship is designed to provide financial assistance to students who meet specific criteria: Junior or Senior classification when they receive the award, students may apply while they are sophomores. Students must take a minimum of 12 hours a semester for the life of the award. Minimum 3.0 GPA Declared major in political science, history, or sociology Leadership potential Demonstrated financial need according to financial aid guidelines following submission of FAFSA Full time status. Application materials shall include a recommendation letter from two faculty, a short essay describing the applicant’s goals, a statement of career/social/personal interests; a vita/resume showing academic and community service achievement; and an essay response to one of the following: What do you consider to be Barbara Jordan’s most significant political and social achievement? How did she effect political change in the US? How has her life and accomplishments influenced you? Additional letters of recommendation may come from employers and/or community leaders. *A student who receives this award may reapply one time.

Eligibility for this College of Business – Accounting endowment is as follows: Be a declared accounting major currently enrolled in a minimum of nine semester hours at the University of Texas at Arlington. Have completed a minimum of fifteen (15) semester hours of accounting courses at the University of Texas at Arlington. Have achieved a minimum GPA of 3.0 overall in courses completed at UTA and a minimum GPA of 3.0 in accounting courses completed at UTA and be judged capable of completing a baccalaureate degree in accounting at UTA; and be a citizen of the United States.

College of Science – Mathematics Scholarship support to students majoring in Mathematics at UTA. The minimum GPA is 3.0, must have graduated from a Tarrant County High School and additional preference will be given to a student who posses a speech impediment.

College of Education The Center for Bilingual Education/ELS Education is taking applications for scholarships to prepare bilingual and ESL teachers. The program is to be funded by the UTA IPAT project. PURPOSE: To prepare junior/senior bilingual and ESL education teacher candidates. Requirements: Candidates will required to donate a minimum of two hours a week to mentor high school students. Minimum Qualifications to Apply: 1.A grade point average of 3.00 on a scale of 4 2.Evidence of the minimum THEA Scores: Reading 270, Math 230, Writing 220 3.Proficiency in Spanish and English interview required 4.Full-time students 12 hours or more per semester 5.Complete Transcript showing an associate degree or equivalent 6.Must qualify to receive federal financial funding

The purpose is to build the capacity of Spanish-speaking and culturally competent mental health providers in our community. Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded. College of Liberal Arts The Bill and Tilley Wasson Endowment for Study Abroad Programs was established by Wallace Dale Wasson and Kimberly P. Van Noort to provide scholarship awards to assist undergraduate students in good academic standing at the time of application with the expense of participating in a study abroad program. Preference will be given to first generation students who demonstrate financial need. Recipients must be full time students pursuing a degree from the College of Liberal Arts and may not be seeking a degree from the Honors College nor have studied abroad via a UT Arlington program. Award levels shall be determined by the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts or his/her designee. College of Business – Accounting The Bill Ross Accounting Alumni Endowed Scholarship was established to recognize Dr. Bill Ross for the significant contributions he made to the University of Texas at Arlington while serving on the accounting faculty. Eligibility: Declared Accounting major currently enrolled or intending to enroll in a minimum of 9 semester hours at UT Arlington Completed 15 semester hours of accounting courses at UT Arlington or have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university. Achieved a minimum overall GPA of 3.2 and a minimum GPA of 3.5 in accounting courses completed at an accredited college or university and be pursuing or intending to pursue a baccalaureate or master degree in accounting at UT Arlington. Be a citizen of the US or a permanent resident.

College of Liberal Arts – Music Scholarship support to students enrolled in the jazz studies program.

To provide financial assistance to College of Business students who are in the Goolsby Leadership Academy.

College of Science. The Bobbitt Family Endowed Scholarship for the College of Science shall be used for the benefit of the College of Science. Scholarship recipients must be full-time graduate students pursuing a Doctoral degree in the College of Science. Recipients must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. This award can be awarded in subsequent years if student reapplies and is selected again by the scholarship committee and does not preclude any other financial aid. All awards will be made according to prevailing University and departmental policies and protocols. This scholarship will be awarded in the spring 2022 semester and applied to the award recipient’s student account in equal disbursements between Fall 2022 and Spring 2023. The student must be enrolled in Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 and continue to be in good academic standing to receive this full scholarship award.

The Brian Shults Memorial Scholarship recognizes a current Shorthorn staff member for demonstrated academic achievement during his or her service to The Shorthorn. This scholarship memorializes Brian Shults, who wrote for The Shorthorn in the early 1990s. Shults maintained a 3.9 grade-point average while writing for both The Shorthorn and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram as a student. Applicants must be current staff members who still will be undergraduate UTA students pursuing an undergraduate degree and who will return to The Shorthorn staff for the following semester. Applicants must also have a 3.0 GPA or higher and have already earned at least 18 hours of academic credit at UTA while holding a Shorthorn staff position. Enrollment this semester does not count toward the 18-hours requirement. A complete application for the Brian Shults Memorial Scholarship must include: 1. The completed electronic application via MavScholarShop. 2. A well-focused, one- to two-page letter addressed to the Scholarship Committee (typed or computer-generated, single-spaced) explaining the student’s contributions to The Shorthorn this semester, what the student hopes to achieve in the student’s career and how the student’s work in Student Publications has helped the student toward that goal. The letter is also a good place to provide a brief explanation and examples of how the student’s work this semester reflected and contributed to The Shorthorn’s digital-first publication strategy. This statement or letter must include information about the student’s career plans. 3. The student’s resume (one page) 4. Samples (no fewer than five, no more than eight) that reflect the student’s work this semester for The Shorthorn. All work samples must be things you did this semester for The Shorthorn. 5. An unofficial copy of the student’s UTA transcript. 6. Information about the student’s academic status, which is pulled from your MyMav account as part of this application. If this is the student’s first semester at UTA and you do not yet have a UTA GPA, include an unofficial copy of the student’s transcript from the student’s previous school. (A photocopy of the student’s transcript is fine. It does not have to be an official transcript.) Selection for this Student Publications scholarship is based on the following: (1) Academic achievement. Applicant must have an overall UTA GPA of 3.0 or higher and must have already earned at least 18 hours of academic credit at UTA while holding a Shorthorn staff position, demonstrating the ability to maintain a high GPA while fulfilling Shorthorn responsibilities. (Your enrollment this semester does not count toward the 18-hours requirement.) (2) Contributions of The Shorthorn. Applicant should be meeting or exceeding requirements for his or her Shorthorn staff position. (3) Financial need. Applicants for the Brian Shults Scholarship must complete the section of the Student Publications Scholarship and Award Application form that asks for financial need information and also must submit an unofficial copy of their UTA transcript with their application. Basic requirements for all scholarships and awards include the following: • You must be in compliance with all requirements for working at The Shorthorn and in Student Publications. • You must be in good academic standing with the university and be eligible to receive a scholarship. • You must have held a staff position this semester that reflects the work being recognized in the scholarship or award. • Priority consideration will be given to applicants who have been on staff the whole semester. • You may apply for more than one scholarship or award, but no student may receive more than one Student Publications end-of-semester scholarship or award in any single semester. • Selection committee members have the option of not awarding any scholarship or award if they conclude performance in that area has not met the level of accomplishment that these scholarships and awards are intended to recognize. Quality of work samples submitted with applications will be a major factor in deciding whether a scholarship or award will be awarded this semester. A recipient will forfeit the full amount of any scholarship or award if: • He or she fails to earn a minimum of 6 credit hours at UTA this semester unless the student completed a degree this semester and needed fewer than 6 credit hours to do so. • He or she is not in good academic standing with the university after grades for this semester are posted.

College of Nursing and Health Innovation BSN Pinning Scholarship is intended for BSN Nursing Students who will be SRII’s during the award semester. This scholarship is financial need based, not GPA based. Eligibility: BSN students must be SR II during the award semester. The Carla Buss Memorial Graduate Fellowship shall be used for the benefit of the College of Business. Scholarships shall be used to support PhD students. Each year PhD students will be asked to nominate a fellow PhD student (no self-nominations) they feel exemplifies both academic excellence and positive community building.

College of Science – Health Professions Scholarships to students who are pre-med majors in the College of Science. Students should have demonstrated academic achievement and have a strong interest in medicine. This scholarship will be awarded in the spring 2022 semester and applied to the award recipient’s student account for fall 2022 and spring 2023. The student must be enrolled in fall 2022 and spring 2023 and continue to be in good academic standing to receive the funds from this scholarship. Students graduating in spring or summer 2022 are not eligible to apply.

The Carolyn A. Barros Founding Dean Endowment was created for current, full-time, and active Honors College members making sufficient progress toward their Honors degree (generally, this equates to at least 6 hours per academic year); have a 3.2 cumulative GPA. Eligible Honors Students must have completed at least 60 hours of undergraduate coursework before the academic year in which the scholarship is awarded, at least 12 of which must be Honors credit hours. This scholarship is for one academic year and is not renewable. Applicants who do not meet the criteria will not be considered or reviewed.

School of Social Work Benefactors Santos Hernandez, PhD, was Dean of the UT Arlington School of Social Work from 1998 to 2008. Dr. Hernandez established this scholarship fund as a tribute to his wife Carolyn C. Hernandez, who as a single parent of a two-year-old, went back to school and completed her undergraduate and then her master’s degree while working full-time to support her daughter and assist her aging parents, all the while being the only member of her immediate family to attend college. Basic requirements BSW, MSW, and PhD students Preferred qualifications Preference given to full-time or part-time Social Work students who are: Are first generation college students, Are single parents, or Have overcome personal obstacles in pursuit of their educational goals. College of Liberal Arts – Communication First awarded in 1990, this scholarship was established to honor Charles Arrendell, a distinguished journalist and former chairperson of the Department of Communication from 1981-1989. After his sudden death in 1989, his wife, son, and many friends established this scholarship to be awarded to an undergraduate journalism student in his memory. College of Science – Chemistry and Biochemistry The Chemistry and Biochemistry Society Excellence Award shall be used for the benefit of the UT Arlington Chemistry and Biochemistry Department in the College of Science. Scholarships shall be awarded to junior or senior level students majoring in Chemistry or Biochemistry who intend to pursue Chemistry or Biochemistry as a career.

Graduate Studies Scholarship support for graduate students attending The University of Texas at Arlington who have attained all or a majority of their preparatory education in a country other than the United States. Applicants must be majoring in Music Vocal Performance/Opera concentration, Psychology, of a College of Engineering major. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, be a full time enrolled graduate student, and must not possess any other form of financial assistance offered at UT Arlington.

School of Social Work Donor Information Dr. M. Coleen Shannon was an expert on biofeedback in stress reduction and management, and operated a biofeedback laboratory in the School of Social Work facilities. This scholarship was established in 2002 to honor and recognize Dr. Shannon for her positive influence on UT Arlington social work students and contributions to the profession of social work, and to provide financial assistance for social work students at UT Arlington. For College of Business Accounting Students Only By applying through this scholarship application you are applying for ALL Department of Accounting scholarships for which you are eligible. The Department of Accounting awards over $100,000 in scholarships to qualified Accounting majors annually. These scholarship funds come from a number of sources including endowed scholarship accounts, firms who recruit on campus, professional associations and generous individual donors. College of Engineering – The COSMOS Scholarship is awarded annually to outstanding full time undergraduate or graduate students who conduct voluntary research with a COSMOS faculty member. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic performance, and quality of their voluntary research activities. The student must be in good academic standing when they apply. Established in 2011, the DFWIMA Scholarship is awarded to a student interested in the interactive marketing field who is actively engaged in courses related to the field. The Dan Dipert Family Fund Scholarship is for nursing majors who are members of the Honors College. The scholarship was established by Dan and Linda Dipert of Arlington, in honor of Billye J. Brown. Eligibility: Current, full-time and active Honors College members majoring in nursing; must be incoming junior or first-semester senior during the academic year in which the scholarship is awarded; must be making sufficient progress toward their Honors degree (generally, this equates to at least 6 hours per academic year); have a 3.2 cumulative GPA. Thanks to a generous endowment recently established by Jim and Cheryl Lewis, the Honors College is pleased to offer a scholarship in honor of Dr. Dana Dunn, former UT Arlington Provost and Associate Professor of Sociology. David E. Groner Endowed Scholarship was established to honor the memory of David E. Groner, long-time member of the Department of Communication at the University of Texas at Arlington, serving from 1964 to 1991. This scholarship provides assistance for motivated and academically able students who are pursuing a degree in communication studies.

Financial support to students earning a Bachelor’s of Social Work degree with a minor in African American studies or a minor in Diversity Studies. This scholarship is for a full time BSW student with a declared African American studies (AAST) minor or a declared Diversity Studies (DIVR) minor. Student must have completed at least one required AAST course or one required DIVR course with a B or higher and have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Scholarship recipients may reapply provided they remain in good standing in the School of Social Work and the Center for African American Studies or Diversity Studies. No students shall hold this scholarship for more than two years. Approximate Award Range $1000 depending on available funding

Financial support to students earning a Bachelor’s of Social Work degree with a minor in Mexican American Studies OR a minor in Diversity Studies. This scholarship is for a full-time BSW student with a declared MAS minor or a declared Diversity Studies minor. Student must have completed at least one required MAS or Diversity Studies course with a B or higher and have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Scholarship recipients may reapply provided they remain in good standing in the School of Social Work and the Center for Mexican American Studies. No students shall hold this scholarship for more than two years.

To award scholarships to students pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees in the College of Science. Students should demonstrate academic excellence and promise within their academic major. This scholarship will be awarded in the spring 2022 semester and applied to the award recipient’s student account in equal disbursements between Fall 2022 and Spring 2023. The student must be enrolled in Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 and continue to be in good academic standing and a COS major to receive this full scholarship award.

College of Education – General Scholarships The Dee Dee Dickerson Memorial Scholarship Endowment shall be used for the benefit of students pursuing a career in Education. Preference shall be given to students who are returning to complete their college education after stopping out for a period of 5 or more years. College of Science – Chemistry and Biochemistry To help further the education of an undergrad student in chemistry or biochemistry who is currently enrolled in or has completed Chem. 3322, Physical Chemistry II.

The Department of Political Science honors high achieving undergraduates. Specifically, this scholarship grants a student $500 for the Spring semester if the student earns at least a 3.85 semester GPA in the Fall semester.

The Department of Political Science offers a one time scholarship of $250.00 to students who identify political science as their intended major. The scholarship is payed out in the student’s first semester at UT Arlington.

The Department of Political Science is offering short term funding assistance to undergraduate students who have completed at least 90 hours, who are Political Science majors or minors and who are enrolled in POLS courses for summer 2016.

College of Liberal Arts – Philosophy and Humanities; Classics Program. The Douglas Britt Carvey Classics Award celebrates the memory of “Doug” Carvey, a graduate of Trinity Valley School of Fort Worth who earned his bachelor’s degree from Pitzer College. At the University of Texas at Arlington Doug was a dedicated and enthusiastic student in the Classics Program. Both undergraduate and graduate students are invited to submit scholarly essays on any aspect of Greco-Roman civilization in competition for the award. This year’s cash pool will be distributed to one or more winning entries, which will be announced at UTA’s Adventures in Antiquity symposium. Papers should take as their topic some artifact(s) or aspect(s) of Greco-Roman antiquity, within one of the following areas: literature, mythology, art, archaeology, history, philosophy, cultural studies, or reception studies. The papers should be 2500-4000 words long (roughly 10-15 pages, double-spaced) and may include illustrations if appropriate. Submissions meeting these requirements will be judged by a panel of Classical Studies faculty members. (The word count includes notes but not bibliography.) Please be advised to choose a topic specific enough to be treated adequately in 10-15 pages. We are NOT looking for broad surveys of Greco-Roman literature, myth, art, etc., which would necessarily be superficial and unduly indebted to other people’s scholarship. What we ARE looking for is an original argument (based as necessary in previous scholarship) that addresses a text, artifact, or aspect of the Classical civilizations of Ancient Greece and Rome. College of Engineering – Bioengineering The Dr. Franklyn Alexander Endowed Fellowship for Biomedical Engineering has been made possible by a generous gift by Dr. Franklyn Alexander. This scholarship supports students who pursue a Ph.D. in Bioengineering. (Preference are for those who plan to stay and work in the U.S upon graduation.

Dr. Franklyn Alexander, an Arlington dentist and committed friend of The University of Texas at Arlington was reared in Baird, Texas- a small West Texas community with a population of approximately 1,600. Recognizing the challenges that students from small towns are confronted with in their pursuit of higher education, Dr. Alexander established the Dr. Franklyn Alexander Scholarship Fund to provide financial support to students studying science from communities similar to his own. College of Science undergraduate or graduate students who: are currently enrolled as a full-time or part-time student majoring in Science and demonstrate academic achievement by maintaining a cumulative GPA in Science of an acceptable level, as determined by the College of Science Scholarship Selection Committee are eligible to apply. Preference shall be given to students who have graduated from a Texas high school in a town with less than 150,000 in population. This scholarship will be awarded in the spring 2021 semester and applied to the award recipient’s student account for Fall 2021. The student must be enrolled in Fall 2021 and continue to be in good academic standing to receive the funds from this scholarship.

Dr. June James III Endowed Award Fund awards for undergraduates of any major who are at the sophomore or higher level, have achieved a minimum of 36 hours at UTA, and have a minimum GPA of 2.75. Students must submit a 500-word essay addressing the value of an education as a passport for success, as well as a letter of support from an instructor. Award is given Fall 2022.

College of Engineering – Electrical Engineering Funds distributed from the endowment shall be used to support student scholarships or graduate fellowships in the Electrical Engineering department at the discretion of the Dean.

College of Business – Accounting Purpose: When received, the insurance proceeds shall be used to create the Dr. Stanley Seat Family Endowed Award Fund as a permanent endowment to benefit the Accounting Department in the College of Business. Funds distributed from the endowment shall be used to make awards to undergraduate students majoring in Accounting who have financial need and who have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. College of Liberal Arts The Edward M. Kennedy Junior-Senior Scholarship Fund was established by anonymous donors in recognition of Edward M. Kennedy’s lifetime of devotion to the cause of education in America and his willingness to work in a bipartisan way in support of the cause The Edward M. Kennedy Liberal Arts Senior Scholarships will award one student $4,000 during their senior year, $2,000 for each semester of that year, and another student $2,000 during their senior year, $1,000 for each semester of that year. Qualifications: 1. Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.85 at the time of the application and at the end of their junior year. They must complete their junior year of course work at any four-year institution. No preference will be given to UTA or to non-UTA students. 2. Students must be enrolled as majors in a department of the College of Liberal Arts for their senior year. 3. Students must complete a minimum of 12 hours during each of the two successive award semesters to remain eligible. 4. Students must maintain a 3.5 overall GPA in each of the two award semesters to remain eligible. 5. Students will forfeit the scholarship if they do not remain enrolled in and complete 12 hours for each of the two successive award semesters or if they do not maintain a 3.5 GPA in each of the two successive award semesters. 6. Scholarship funds for each of the two successive award semesters will not be distributed to the students until each semester is over and the grades for that semester’s work have been reported, showing that the students completed 12 hours for that semester and earned a 3.5 overall GPA for that semester’s work. 7. Students must demonstrate financial need by submitting a FAFSA form online (www.fafsa.ed.gov), the results of which will be sent to the Scholarship Office. School of Social Work Donor Information Dr. Souflee was an alumnus of the UT Arlington Ph.D. program and joined the School of Social Work faculty after a distinguished career in Child Welfare. He served on the School of Social Work faculty from 1981 until his death in 1998. He was Associate Professor of Administration and Community Practice. He helped establish a dual degree Social Work Ph.D. program between UTA and the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon (UANL) in Monterrey, Mexico, and served as its first coordinator. At the time of its founding, this program was the only Social Work Ph.D. program in Mexico. Dr. Souflee is remembered as a gifted scholar and teacher, an activist in the Chicano movement of the 1970s, a Child Welfare program innovator, and as a pioneer and leader in advancing social work education with an emphasis on work with Chicanos and other Mexican-Americans. Selection of recipients will be based on academic achievement, financial need and participation in extracurricular activities including student honor societies and professional organizations such as the Ft. Worth Branch of ASCE, or the UT Arlington chapter of ASCE.

College of Business Student Majoring in Business, cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a minimum of 24 semester hours, evidence of extracurricular activities and demonstrated financial need. Recipients must attend one monthly NAPM meeting to be presented to and recognized by the donors. Since 1983, GCPA has served Texas and the Gulf Coast as a regional electric power trade organization dedicated to promoting an improved understanding of the issues and opportunities impacting contemporary power. The emPOWERing Women program was introduced in 2013 with the dual goals of offering opportunities for support, development and networking among women working in the electric power industry while also encouraging younger women pursuing technical degrees to consider careers in the electric power arena. The Wolfskill Award was established in 1991 to recognize graduate student academic excellence and to honor the career of the late Professor George Wolfskill. Dr. Wolfskill was a prolific scholar and popular teacher who served UTA in many capacities from 1955 until his death in 1987. For many years he was invaluable as the department’s graduate advisor. The Wolfskill Award is presented annually at the Walter Prescott Webb Lectures in two categories: to the masters graduate student whose overall performance, grades and written work, symbolize the excellence that Dr. Wolfskill encouraged in all his graduate students and to the Ph.D. student whose completed dissertation is deemed to be an outstanding achievement of scholarship, measuring up to the level of performance Dr. Wolfskill expected of UTA students. At the present time, the amount of the awards are $500 for the M.A. level and $750 for the Ph.D. Nominations for the M.A. level award must include one or more letters of recommendation and a writing sample. Nominations for the Ph.D. award will include letter(s) of support from the dissertation supervisor or committee members and an electronic copy of the dissertation.

School of Social Work Glen W. and Miriam S. Rollins Mental Health Graduate Scholarship Donor Information This scholarship was established to honor the memory of Glen W. Rollins and his wife, Miriam S. Rollins. Glen W. Rollins was a dedicated social worker who gained both regional and national recognition throughout his thirty-four-year career in the field of mental illness. A mental health consultant for the National Institute of Mental Health during the last 17 years of his career, Mr. Rollins served as a board member of the Texas Mental Health Association following his retirement. He was also active on the Advisory Board of the Community Services Development Center of the Graduate School of Social Work at UT Arlington and on the Advisory Board of Home Health Services Inc., in Dallas. Glen Rollins began his interest in the field of mental health when he served as the personal assistant to a psychiatrist while in the Army during World War II. In February of 1946, he became a social worker at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Waco, Texas. He received a master’s degree in Social Work from The University of Texas at Austin in 1952. In October of 1960, he became the Executive Director of the Dallas Mental Health Association. Mr. Rollins held a life-long interest in building the self esteem of others and in the use of education to broaden one’s knowledge about self and others. College of Business – Accounting The H. C. and Maxine Foster Graduate Fellowship in Accounting shall be a permanent endowment and shall be used for the benefit of the Accounting Department in the College of Business. Funds distributed from the endowment shall be used to provide graduate fellowships to students pursuing a graduate degree in Accounting in accordance with the following criteria: Recipients must be enrolled or will enroll in the graduate program in the Department of Accounting including but not limited to the Master of Science in Taxation (MST) program and the Master of Professional Accounting (MPA) program. Scholarships may be given to more than one student per semester/year. Recipients just have and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale. Recipients must have worked at least 20 hours a week during the prior semester (unless the current semester is the first semester for the graduate student) and intend to work at least 20 hours a week during the scholarship period with work being defined as employment by independent third parties in the private or public sector. This stipulation is intended to include any students that have been for the prior semester, or will be for the current semester, graduate teaching assistants (GTE) or graduate research assistants (GRE) or other comparable designations as determined by the Department of Accounting. Recipients of this scholarship shall to be denied consideration again for this scholarship in the future solely as a result of receiving this scholarship from a previous semester/year. All determinations under these and all other stipulations in this endowment shall be determined by the Department of Accounting in its sole discretion.

Summer 2021 Semester – College of Engineering – Civil Engineering The Halff Associates Endowed Scholarship supports outstanding students majoring in civil engineering. Recipients must be a freshman in the Civil Engineering program. Class rank, grades, aptitude and achievement scores, strength in course work, worthwhile activities, independence and initiative all factors in selection. The scholarship award is renewable for up to three additional years, as long as the recipient maintains a 3.0 GPA and is enrolled in CE.

This scholarship may be renewed for up to three additional years. Eligibility Requirements: Full-time entering Freshmen, Continuing, and Transfer Honors students *Entering freshmen: * Combined Reading/Writing and Math SAT score of 1270, ACT composite score of 27, OR Graduation in the top 10% of their high school class (U.S. high schools only) Continuing and transfer students: 3.2 cumulative GPA Additional Exceptions and Limitations: You cannot receive this scholarship if you are awarded a General Scholarship/Maverick Academic Scholarship from the UTA Scholarship Office of equal or greater value.

College of Education – General Scholarships Funds distributed from the endowment are to be used to provide scholarships to deserving graduate students pursuing a Master of Counselor Education. Until such time as the master’s degree in Counselor Education is available at UTA, distributions from the endowment are to be used to provide scholarships to graduate students who are enrolled in the Master of Education in Teaching with Teacher Certification program, with a preference for applicants in early childhood certification tracks (early childhood – grade 6 or early childhood – grade 6 bilingual) or the Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction program, with a preference for applicants who choose an approved concentration of courses focused on early childhood education. College of Business – Undergraduate Scholarship The College of Business established the Jack Evans endowed scholarship from proceeds from the College’s annual Spring Dinners honoring area business leaders with the Distinguished Business Leadership Award, of which Evans was a recipient. Requirements: Must be a declared business major, indicate intent to pursue a career involving business and one or more of the following: demonstrated financial need, evidence of a good academic record, or record of involvement in student activities. Student may be required to attend stewardship dinner during the fall semester.

College of Liberal Arts – Philosophy and Humanities; Classics Program The Jack Thomas and Janice N. Holmes Scholarship for Classical Studies was established to honor the memory of Jack Holmes, a graduate of the North Texas Agricultural College and in recognition of the positive experience provided members of the Homes family through the study of the Classics. Eligibility requires a minor in Classical Studies at UTA, with a minimum of 6 hours completed in its component disciplines (including the Classical languages); at least 12 student credit hours in residence completed at the time of application; and minimum overall GPA of 3.0. Preference will be given to full-time students scheduled to graduate in December 2021 or later. It is recommended that if the minor is incomplete scholarship winners take at least 3 credit hours applicable to the Classical Studies minor during the year of the award. School of Social Work Jeanette Coburn Scholarship Donor Information The Jeannette Coburn Scholarship is named for Jeannette Coburn and recognizes her commitment to The University of Texas at Arlington. Jeannette received her undergraduate degree in Psychology in l972 and her Masters in Social Work in 1975. She and her late husband, Tom McMahon, met on the UT Arlington campus and married in 1971. Tom received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration in 1968, served as an officer in the Navy during the Vietnam conflict, then returned to UT Arlington and received his MBA in 1972. Throughout their successful careers, Tom and Jeannette maintained contact with and interest in UT Arlington. They created an Endowed Professorship in Business Ethics in 1990, and sponsored two Ethics colloquiums, one in 1998, the other in 2000. Jeannette also created The Tom McMahon Memorial Endowed Scholarship in Business Administration in his honor. College of Liberal Arts – Art & Art History The Jeffrey A. Leuschel Endowed Scholarship for the College of Liberal Arts provides scholarships for graduate students who meet the following eligibility preferences: College of Liberal Arts graduate students in the Masters of Fine Arts program, with preference going to students who are not Texas residents at the time of admission into the graduate program; and have demonstrated academic achievement by having graduated with an undergraduate degree and having achieved a cumulative minimum GPA of a 3.5 on a 4 point scale. If no applicants qualify from outside the state of Texas, MFA students from inside the state of Texas will be considered.

Summer 2021 Semester – College of Engineering – Civil Engineering The John J. Haynes Endowed Scholarship was established to honor Dr. Haynes for his longstanding service to the UTA Department of Civil Engineering and supports outstanding students pursuing an undergraduate degree in civil engineering. Recipients must be a US citizen or permanent resident and must have unconditional admission to the Civil Engineering program. The scholarship award is renewable for up to three additional years, as long as the recipient maintains a 3.0 GPA and is enrolled in CE. ELIGIBILITY Students eligible for the John J. Haynes Endowed Scholarship: 1. Must have demonstrated an aptitude for academic success in engineering. 2. Must have unconditional admission to the Civil Engineering program and be pursuing an undergraduate degree. 3. Must remain in the Civil Engineering program. 4. Shall be a U.S. citizen or have a permanent resident visa at the time the scholarship is awarded.

The John J. Haynes Scholarship is available to civil engineering students at the University of Texas at Arlington. You must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and demonstrate aptitude for success in engineering to be eligible for this award.

The Joseph and Barbara Penshorn award recognizes exceptional students majoring in the academic field of History. This award is granted to a student who has demonstrated an outstanding track record of success within the major. Selection is based on GPA, credit hours, one or more letters of recommendation, and a sample of written work. The award amount in recent years has been $1,000.

School of Social Work Joseph, Lucille and Rebecca Hegar Endowed Scholarship Fund Donor Information This scholarship was established by Professor Rebecca Hegar in 2013, in memory of her parents, Joseph and Lucille. At UT Arlington since 1997, Dr. Hegar teaches social policy, as well as courses in Community and Administrative Practice. She has received Social Work’s Torgerson Teaching Award (2003) and been nominated for the university President’s Award for Teaching Excellence (2012). In 2013 she was inducted into UT Arlington’s Academy of Distinguished Teachers. College of Science – Health Professions The Julia and Dale Martin Pre-Dental Scholarship shall be used to benefit the College of Science to provide scholarship support to students enrolled in the College of Science who have the intention of pursuing a career in dentistry. This scholarship will be awarded in the spring 2022 semester and applied to the award recipient’s student account for fall 2022 and spring 2023. First awarded in 1996, this endowed scholarship was established by former students of the award-winning emeritus professor of Speech Communication, Karin McCallum. This scholarship is given to outstanding students majoring in Communication Studies in her honor. Eligibility: Applicants must be a communication studies major at UTA, be a junior or senior, be a full-time student for the fall semester. College of Business – Accounting Distributions from the endowment will be used to make annual scholarship awards to outstanding undergraduate and graduate students majoring in Accounting at UT Arlington. Eligibility: Be a declared accounting major currently enrolled or intending to enroll in an accounting degree program at UT Arlington. Completed a minimum of 12 semester hours of accounting courses (9 semester hours for graduate students) or have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university. Achieved a minimum overall GPA of 3.25 and a minimum accounting GPA of 3.25 in courses completed at an accredited college or university. Established in honor of Kathryn Head, Director of the former SOAR Learning Services, upon her retirement in 2009 from UT Arlington after thirty-one years of service. This scholarship is for McNair Scholars who are currently engaged in (or have completed) the program’s summer research internship.

College of Nursing, Honors College Eligibility Requirements: Full-time active Honors students who are making sufficient progress toward their Honors degree (generally, this equates to at least 6 hours per academic year); Junior-level active Honors Nursing student during the academic year in which the scholarship is awarded; student must be in good standing in Nursing and in the Honors College; 3.25 cumulative GPA with particular emphasis upon coursework related to Nursing. Award amount: $1,000 for one year. This scholarship is not renewable. Applicants who do not meet the criteria will not be considered.

College of Engineering – Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering Funds distributed from the endowment shall be used to make scholarship awards to deserving, employed undergraduate students who are majoring in Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering and are in good standing at UT Arlington.

This scholarship is offered by the College of Science. This chemistry scholarship is offered for a Doctoral student in their final semester whose research involves discovery, development, and applications of novel supramolecular systems in proteomic and lipidomic research.

School of Social Work Lila B. Hagins Scholarship Donor Information Lila B. Hagins was the first of seven faculty members assembled to initiate the master’s program for the new Graduate School of Social Work at UT Arlington in 1968. Assistant Professor Hagins was a native Texan with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma, a MSSW from UT Austin, and experience with the Texas Department of Public Welfare in child welfare services. An experienced social work educator, she had chaired the social welfare policy and services sequence at Florida State University. She later served as Assistant Dean, Graduate Advisor, and Admissions Director before retirement in 1989. Center for Mexican American Studies The Manuel Gamio Endowment was established for the benefit of the Center for Mexican American Studies at The University of Texas at Arlington. Students eligible for the CMAS scholarship will be UT Arlington students engaged in Latino studies with satisfactory progress toward a degree or students in a non degree program sponsored by CMAS. Recipients may continue to receive this award for subsequent years. Factors to be considered in the selection process will include: student will pursue a degree program in Mexican American or Latino Studies or Latin American Studies; student may pursue a non degree program sponsored by CMAS; academic performance; student will have exhibited leadership; student will have demonstrated a commitment to serving the Latina/o/x community; demonstrated financial need. Named Texas play-by-play sportscaster for the year eight times, and elected to the Texas Baseball Hall of Fame in 1990, Mark Holtz was the Texas Rangers’ lead radio announcer for 13 years. He passed away on September 7, 1997. To honor his memory, the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation awards two scholarships to students at UTA pursuing careers in Broadcast Journalism. Applicants must: be enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours for fall semester and continue on to enroll in 12 hours in spring semester must maintain a 3.0 gpa, Note: Prior Mark Holtz award recipients are ineligible to apply for an additional award. In order to apply, you must submit the following: an application provide an unofficial transcript two letters of recommendation from UTA Department of Communication faculty 500 word or less essay on “Why I Want a Career in Broadcast Journalism.” Scholarship recipients are recognized on the field at a Texas Rangers game held over the summer or early fall. Scholarships shall be provided support for dissertation research to selected doctoral students who meet the following requirements: • Must be enrolled in the UTA College of Nursing PhD Program • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. • Must have completed all course work for the doctoral degree, be admitted to candidacy, and be ready to initiate their dissertation research Students who have met the above requirements will be given additional preference for the following: • Earned high school, undergraduate or graduate degrees in the State of Texas • Intend to continue their practice in the State of Texas • Are the first in their family to achieve a graduate degree • Have worked in geriatric, hospice, or palliative care nursing • Have served on institutional ethics committees Selection Criteria The award(s) will be selected by an advisory committee consisting of CONHI faculty appointed by the Program Director and/or Associate Chair. Selection will be based on the quality of the proposed research projects and importance to nursing practice and education.

College of Nursing The Mary Lou Bond Fellowship provides support to doctoral candidates in UT Arlington’s College of Nursing for their dissertation research. Eligibility: Must be enrolled in the UT Arlington School of Nursing PhD program Must have completed all course work for the doctoral degree, be admitted to candidacy, and be ready to initiate the dissertation research Students who have met the above requirements will be given additional preference for the following: Doctoral candidate from an underrepresented population Intent to pursue a career focusing on improving the health care of Hispanics First in their family to achieve a graduate degree Have previous work experience with underrepresented and/or vulnerable population

The McNair Scholars Program works with qualified undergraduate students who aspire to attend graduate school immediately after graduation, acquire a Ph.D., and ideally teach at the university level. Please contact McNair Scholars Program staff if you have questions regarding eligibility and the application. Program components include regular seminars/workshops, the McNair Research Institute (a series of research-related meetings prior to the summer internship), the McNair Summer Research Internship (a mentored summer research experience), participation in undergraduate research conferences, and assistance with the graduate school application process.

The Maverick Mentors program is only made successful through the dedication of our student mentors and the great relationships they build. Each year, Maverick Mentors thanks our mentors through our Mentor of the Year Scholarship available to mentors involved in the program who have shown qualities of exemplary mentorship. Mentees are asked to nominate their mentors by filling out the nomination form available in the spring semester. Once a mentor has been nominated we will contact them and request they continue the application process.

College of Science Scholarship awards to graduate students in the College of Science. Recipients must be full-time graduate students pursuing a master’s or doctoral degree in the College of Science and majoring in either Mathematics or Physics. This award may be renewed in subsequent years and does not preclude any other financial aid.

College of Business – Accounting Distributions from the endowment are to be used to provide graduate fellowships to students pursuing a greaduate degree in Accounting.

Financial Aid/Scholarships. Established to honor the community outreach and partnership efforts of Michele Bobadilla, the Bridge to Excellence Scholarship encourages deserving students to bridge the gap between dreams and reality through education. First generation entering freshmen (graduate of a DISD high school in the top 25% of the graduating class, with a minimum test score of 1000 SAT/22 ACT) may apply.

The Mid-Cities Association of CPAs Scholarship was established to award a College of Business – Accounting scholarship annually to an outstanding full time student majoring in accounting and at least 15 hours in accounting at The University of Texas at Arlington.

The MSMR Alumni Association established this scholarship to encourage and reward the students who best represent the program by exemplifying the qualities of leadership, academic achievement, and a commitment to a career in marketing research. Scholarships are awarded from available funds to continuing students based on a rank ordering of eligible students. Financial need is considered and the opportunity is only open to students enrolled in the MS in Marketing Research program who meet the stated criteria.

MSMR Alumni Association Scholarship for continuing students of the MSMR program. This scholarship is awarded to continuing students in the Spring semester based on a rank ordering of eligible students. Students must meet the following criteria when applying: Current GPA at least 3.5 (verified with submitted unofficial transcript) Completion of at least 9 graduate hours of MSMR program courses (excluding general marketing courses) AND enrollment in at least 9 graduate hours of MSMR program Spring term (or 6 hours if graduating) MSMR program involvement and extracurricular activities Other sources of funding or other scholarships will be considered in scholarship application. This scholarship was established by the Poston’s, world travelers who spent 20 years traveling and writing articles for the travel industry and various news organizations. In 1979, at age 66, Mrs. Poston graduated from UTA with a journalism degree. Established in the Poston’s will, this award provides support to future journalists. Eligibility: Applicants must be a journalism major at UTA, must be a sophomore/junior/senior full-time student in fall must maintain a 3.0 gpa, and should demonstrate extant or potential skill for writing. A scholarship to attend as a nursing student representative of the College of Nursing and Health Innovation to the 47th NAHN ( National Association of Hispanic Nurses) Annual Conference from July 12-15, 2022 in Miami. The award covers travel (airfare and transportation to/from hotel), hotel room, and conference registration fee. Maximum scholarship amount is $1500. Eligibility Criteria Applicants must be an active, current member of the Hispanic Student Nursing Association (HSNA) at UT Arlington College of Nursing and Health Innovation. DO NOT APPLY IF YOU ARE NOT A HSNA MEMBER. Selection of the recipient will be based on application review; however, an interview may be held with a student if additional information is needed. Eligibility Conditions for Scholarships: • Open to UTA Students: Juniors, Seniors, and Graduate Students with an undergraduate major or degree in any STEM field** • Students must enroll in and complete one of the following UTA programs to earn teacher certification: UTeach Arlington OR COED Post-Baccalaureate program Computer Science Students: The UTeach coursework is similar to the coursework needed for a minor and includes teaching practice and preparation to certify as a high school mathematics teacher. Once certified, CSE dept. majors can apply for certification to teach HS CS, game development, robotics, or digital forensics. *STEM recognized fields include sciences (biology, chemistry, physics, geology, environmental science), technology (computer science), engineering, and mathematics. Terms of this scholarship require students to complete the UTA program and earn certification, then teach in a high need district for two years (for each year of scholarship support) as noted above. Recipients also agree to attendance at Learning Academy Seminars, participation in mentoring and continued communication with the NSF Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program at UTA while completing requirements, including during first two years of teaching. Failure to do so requires the recipient to repay the scholarship funds in full to The University of Texas at Arlington. Acceptance of the scholarship requires agreeing to these terms. High need districts include Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Irving, Cedar Hill, Hurst-Euless-Bedford, and others. This scholarship was established to honor the memory of Neva McMurray Riedel, a student of journalism at the University of Texas. Mrs. Riedel’s sister became aware of the excellence of the journalism program at UTA, and in 1987 created this annual award to recognize an outstanding journalism student. Eligibility: Applicants must be a journalism major at UTA, have earned at least 60 hours of college credit completed by end of spring semester completed at least 15 hours of UTA college credit by the end of spring semester provide evidence of commitment to pursue a career in print journalism, provide evidence of financial need, have an excellent academic record, and must maintain full-time status for the fall semester. In order to apply, you must submit the following: application statement of career goals and financial need evidence of journalistic ability/experience (i.e. clips, outstanding class work, etc) an unofficial transcript

This award can be used for transformative educational opportunities that provide pre-professional experieinces. These can include Travel, workshops, festivals, conferences, etc. Students may not use this award to attend a political convention, political think tank, or political action committee at any time.

HRSA Nurse Faculty Loan Program General Information Purpose: The purpose of the Nurse Faculty Loan Program (NFLP) is to increase the number of qualified nursing faculty by providing funding to accredited schools of nursing to offer loans to students in graduate education nursing degree programs who are committed to become nurse faculty. Eligibility Requirements: Eligible borrowers must be: ● Enrolled full-time or part-time in an advanced education nursing degree program; ● In good academic standing (as determined by the institution), and; ● A citizen of the United States, a non-citizen national, or a foreign national having in his/her possession a visa permitting permanent residence in the United States, the District of Columbia, Guam, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau. Loan Disbursements The loans are to cover the cost of tuition and fees only. NFLP borrowers are not eligible to receive NFLP loan support beyond the maximum five years. Funds are subject to availability and the borrower must maintain good academic standing. NFLP borrowers may receive support from other federal programs, in addition to NFLP support, if the funds are not used to cover the same costs during the same academic year. Leave of Absence from Program: Institutions may approve and grant a temporary leave of absence to borrowers of NFLP loan funds according to their internal student enrollment and leave policies, upon a determination that there is a reasonable expectation that the borrower will return to the institution. Students who do not return from a leave of absence will enter repayment status according to institutional policies. An approved Leave of Absence should not be considered a breach of the NFLP Promissory Note by the borrower. Ceasing NFLP Loan Disbursements: CONHI will cease disbursements of NFLP Loan Funds to Borrowers in situations including: ● Withdrawal from the institution/course of study ● Failure to meet the academic standards of the institution ● Request to terminate NFLP participation ● Maximum of five years of NFLP loan support

School of Social Work Peter G. Gaupp Endowed Award Fund Donor Information Peter G. Gaupp, PhD, was a co-founder of the UT Arlington School of Social Work. He also founded and directed the School’s Community Services Development Center from 1980 until his retirement in 1994. He was named Social Worker of the Year in 1992 by the Tarrant County unit of the NASW Texas chapter. He received a Commendation Medal from the Assistant Surgeon General of the United States in 1991. In 1995 he was awarded the title of Professor Emeritus at UT Arlington. A 1980 graduate of UTA, Phillip Lynn Hall loved music, literature, and journalism. Following his unexpected death in 2001, his family established this scholarship to be awarded to outstanding undergraduate and graduate students majoring in Communication at UTA in his memory. Eligibility: Applicants must be a communication major at UTA, be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, have a commitment to print journalism, completed a minimum of 12 hours in communication courses (9 hours for grad students) or have a B.A. degree, have a minimum overall and departmental gpa of 3.25, at least 9 hours of study remaining to complete communication degree, and be a full-time student for the fall semester. The Potratz Family Scholarship provides five, $1000.00 scholarships for undergraduate students in STEM or business majors. To be considered for the scholarship you must meet the following criteria: Must be enrolled full-time (12+ credit hours) Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 Must have a declared or intended STEM or Business major Must have DEMONSTRATED FINANCIAL NEED BASED ON THE FAFSA

College of Engineering – Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering Funds distributed from the endowment shall be used to provide scholarships to undergraduate students who are: 1) taking a minimum of 9 hours; 2) in the Industrial Engineering (“IE”) professional program; 3) in good standing; 4) majoring in Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering; and 5) U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Preference will go to students who are working or volunteering in UT Arlington manufacturing laboratories such as Micro-Manufacturing, automation, or working in industry manufacturing. Application requires a one page essay describing their manufacturing interest, experience and plans. Awardee is encouraged but not required to take at least one IE manufacturing elective. GPA and SAT scores are not to be considered in the selection.

College of Engineering – Civil Engineering The Professor Dayle M. Clark Endowed Scholarship Fund provides financial support for civil engineering students, with a preference given to graduate students. Recipients must be a member of ASCE.

Funds distributed from the endowment shall be used to award scholarships to undergraduate nursing students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program who are single parents with demonstrated financial need. College of Engineering – The RAID Scholarship is awarded annually to outstanding full time undergraduate or graduate students who conduct voluntary research associated with the RAID Labs. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic performance, financial need, and quality of their voluntary research activities. The student must be in good academic standing when they apply. Must be enrolled in Fall courses.

College of Education – Center for Bilingual Education Undergraduate students majoring in Bilingual Education/ESL; Must maintain cumulative GPA of 3.0 and demonstrate financial need. Included in the criteria for awarding this scholarship is “documented evidence of financial need.” This is interpreted as “demonstrated financial need" which requires the completion of the free application for federal student aid (FAFSA). Scholarships for Campus Based RN to BSN students through the College of Nursing and Health Innovation are only offered to students who are currently enrolled in upper division nursing courses. RN-BSN students must have more than 12 hours of Nursing courses to be awarded and a 3.0 GPA. May apply during first semester to be awarded in the following semester. GPA and credit hours will be verified.

This scholarship is for Fall 2022 entering freshman Honors College students only. The Robert D. Riley Scholarship Fund is established at The University of Texas at Arlington to support full-time undergraduate students. The scholarships will be awarded and administered through the Honors College at The University of Texas at Arlington. The Honors College Scholarship Committee shall award these scholarships to students who show both academic promise and financial need. College of Science One award per year will be awarded to a sophomore, junior or senior level student. Requirements include demonstration of high academic achievement, 30 credit hours of coursework completed at UT Arlington, and demonstration of service to the University and community.

The Roger C. Dycus Award is awarded for newsroom excellence, productivity, team approach, attitude and dependability. It was started in the 1980s with a $100 donation from a Shorthorn staff member and is named for the father of John Dycus, Shorthorn Newsroom adviser 1970-1998. In addition to being one of The Shorthorn and Student Publications’ highest honors, it is also Student Publications’ largest scholarship. Applications will be sent to committee members to review. Depending on the number and quality of applications, committee members have the option to interview all applicants or select finalists from the submitted applications and interview only those finalists. Committee members have the option of awarding one scholarship, two scholarships or no scholarship. Eligibility • The scholarship will be awarded to a current Shorthorn Newsroom staff member who holds a major editing, reporting, photography, production, graphics or design position (print or online). • Applicants must have been on Shorthorn staff at least one long semester (fall or spring) prior to the current semester. • Applicants must have a cumulative UTA GPA of 2.5 or higher. The committee will not consider any applicant with UTA cumulative GPA lower than 2.5 or any applicant who does not yet have a UTA GPA that reflects at least one long semester as a UTA student prior to the current semester. • All current Shorthorn staff members, including graduating seniors, who meet stated qualifications may apply. A committee composed primarily of former Shorthorn staff members chooses the recipient each fall. Dycus Scholarship or Dorothy Estes Scholarship are ineligible to apply for the other in the same year.

School of Social Work Roy and Betty Dulak Endowed Scholarship Award Roy E. Dulak spent thirty years of devoted service as Executive Director of the Community Council of Greater Dallas. Following his retirement in 1979, Mr. Dulak began additional public service as an advisor and consultant to the Trustees of The Hillcrest Foundation. He played a principal role in spearheading the creation of The University of Texas at Arlington School of Social Work. As the Executive Director of the Community Council, he assigned his staff, first Dr. Peter Gaupp and later Ed Protz, to provide the necessary staff services for this effort. Basic Requirements: MSW students 1st semester MSW students can list undergraduate GPA Preferred qualifications: First and second year Master’s students who are entering the field of Community and Administrative Practice. College of Engineering – Civil Engineering Construction Research Center This scholarship is open to undergraduate juniors or seniors and/or Master’s degree graduate students in Civil Engineering. Scholarship requirements stipulate a full or part time student in good standing at UT Arlington majoring in CE area of Construction Engineering and/or Construction Management. Preference is given to permanent residents in Dallas County, Tarrant County, or adjoining counties.

College of Liberal Arts – Music The Royce H. D’Arcy Music Education Endowed Scholarship for the Department of Music shall be used to provide scholarships for undergraduate students who are majoring in music education. The scholarship may be renewed each semester until graduation, provided the student maintains a cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0. Priority will be given to recipients with Tuba, Euphonium, Baritone, and Sousaphone instrumentalists first, followed by brass trombone if one of the first four instruments does not qualify.

College of Nursing – The Ruby B. Dean Endowed Scholarship shall benefit the College of Nursing and Health Innovation. Scholarships shall provide support to nursing students including tuition, fees, books, and supplies for not more than two students per year who are pursuing a course of study leading to a Registered Nurse rating. The choice of the students to receive assistance from the Fund shall be based upon financial need and academic ability. Eligibility: Follow instructions specifically. Two letters of recommendation. Must be a pre-licensure (BSN) student and have completed the first semester of the nursing program (Junior II students). Scholarship will be renewed one time, dependent upon GPA maintained at 3.0. HIMSS Doctoral Fellowship has been instituted by the DFW Chapter of HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society) to promote education and research in healthcare IT. The fellowship will be awarded each Fall to an eligible Information Systems doctoral student engaged in healthcare IT research. It carries a stipend of $1,000 and an invitation to participate in the HIMSS regional meeting.

College of Business – Information Systems and Operations Management To assist students in the Department of Information Systems and Management Sciences in pursuing doctoral degrees. Eligibility: Qualified and enrolled in the PhD program. Demonstrated potential for substantial scholastic contribution as determined by the Oversight Committee.

College of Business – Information Systems and Operations Management This scholarship fund was established by various faculty and friends honoring Suzanne Sparvero, a beloved staff member in the department. The scholarship will assist undergraduate students majoring in Information Systems and Operations Management in purchasing textbooks.

Scholarship is reserved exclusively for students unconditionally accepted in the College of Business BBA program concentrating in Operations Management. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA as computed by the UTA Registrar’s Office and have completed a minimum of 3 Operations Management courses and BSTAT 3321. The proceeds of the scholarship should be used to assist in the payment of tuition and required fees or for institutional equipment, materials, and books.

Appeals for undergraduate students that received a scholarship through the Scholarships Office that has been cancelled for fall 2019 will be accepted now through August 12, 2019. Appeals made after the deadline will not be considered. The scholarships that are included in this appeal process are the renewal of the National Merit Scholarship, the Presidential Scholarship, the Maverick Academic Scholarship, the Transfer Honors Scholarship or the Academic Achievement Scholarship. For other scholarship appeals please reach out directly to the department that offered the scholarship. You may expect to receive an email with decision regarding your appeal within a week of submission. We cannot guarantee that the process will be completed and the change will be reflected on your account by the fall 2019 payment due date of 8/15/2019. If you are in this group and your scholarship has been cancelled for fall, we recommend you make payment arrangements prior to the payment due date to ensure your classes are not dropped for non-payment.

Student Affairs – Office of Int’l Education – The scholarship is to support a full-time undergraduate student who received all or part of their preparatory education in a country other than the United States. The student must demonstrate academic excellence and an ambition to obtain higher level education. Preference shall be given to students who have financial need based on a written statement as to how they will benefit from receiving this scholarship. To the extent applicable by law, the Regent’s Rules and Regulations and UT Arlington policies and procedures, preference shall be given to female students who meet the above criteria.

Provides for an annual scholarship of $1,000 to MSW Students in Social Work. Criteria includes academic accomplishment and/or financial need (based on a written statement by the applicant as to how he or she will benefit from receiving this award).

Student Affairs – Office of Int’l Education The Society of Iranian American Women for Education Endowed Scholarship shall be used for the benefit of the Office of International Education. Applicants must meet the following criteria: 1. Applicants must be full-time undergraduate or graduate students with priority given to undergraduate students enrolled during the fall and spring semesters. 2. Recipients must have lived or matriculated from Iran or currently be or have been the dependent of individuals who have lived in Iran for the majority of their lives. 3. Applicants should have a current GPA of 3.75 for graduates and 3.0 for undergraduates at the time of the award and maintain these GPAs to receive the Spring portion of the award. 4. Applicants must have financial need. 5. Applicants must submit a 300 word essay in English conveying personal information the applicant wishes to be considered for evaluating need and qualification for receiving the award. 6. Must have a signed degree plan on file with the Office of International Education, if applicable. This scholarship will pay for tuition, fees and books only.

Student Affairs – Leadership Center The UTA Leadership Center offers scholarships for current UTA students interested in becoming more involved with the Leadership Center. Scholarship recipients are granted the opportunity to gain professional skills and leadership experience within the Leadership Center and its programs. This scholarship program is open to full time enrolled UTA undergraduate and graduate students. The Student Leadership Fellow is a competitive, non-academic scholarship. Ideal candidates will want to enhance their leadership skills and abilities. The Student Leadership Fellow for the Leadership Center is housed in the E. H. Hereford University Center. Award recipients serve as a resource and assist with forwarding the mission of the Leadership Center, the Division of Student Affairs, and The University of Texas at Arlington. The Student Leadership Fellow for the Leadership Center will shadow peer leaders within the Leadership Center learning about different programs and gaining leadership skills. The Student Leadership Fellow program is overseen by the Assistant Director of The Leadership Center.

College of Business – Accounting Distributions will be used to make annual scholarship awards to outstanding undergraduate and graduate students majoring in accounting at The University of Texas at Arlington. The purpose of the awards is to provide a permanent vehicle through which to honor Terry J. Witt.

College of Nursing Conditional Application – The Texas Graduate Nurses Association Scholarship and Loan Fund provides scholarships or loans to RNs who are graduates of diploma schools & wish to take additional work leading to a Bachelor’s degree.

College of Engineering – Computer Science & Engineering Funds distributed Scholarships from the endowment shall be used to provide graduate scholarships to Computer Science and Engineering Senior Design students seeking a graduate degree in computer science and engineering.

Funds distributed from the endowment shall be used to support outstanding undergraduate or graduate students in the Department of Industrial, Manufacturing, and Systems Engineering. Its purpose is to provide encouragement for US citizens or permanent resident students to select programs in Industrial, Manufacturing and Systems Engineering. Selection of candidates for the scholarship will be determined by 1) The ISME scholarship committee with flexibility to grant the scholarship at any time 2) Awarded to multiple candidates within the limitations of the available endowment. Transfer students from other universities, community colleges and from other programs within UTA, are encouraged to apply.

The Toni Hillenbrand Memorial Scholarship is established through a gift from Steve and Pam Hillenbrand. The scholarship honors Toni Hillenbrand who practiced nursing in Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Toni held many different nursing positions over the years and retired as a clinical supervisor at Milwaukee County Medical Complex in 1990. Toni enjoyed mentoring nursing graduates who were just starting their careers with all her knowledge and experience. Toni was a compassionate facilitator and instructor who treated patients and staff the same way she would like to be treated. Requirements: Full-time undergraduate nursing students Minimum GPA of 3.5. Two letters of recommendation (It is your responsibility to ensure both letters were submitted before this application closes. Applicants will be required to submit a personal essay describing their role in the military, why they want to become a nurse, what they plan to do when they are an RN, how they plan to give back to the profession, and what they will do to help other veterans who want to become RNs. College of Engineering – Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Open to students currently enrolled full time as undergraduate or graduate engineering students and have a GPA of 2.5 or greater in the semester of the award. Must participate in a student design competition and have contributed to the design elements of the competition, with preference to electronic and automotive programs. The student must submit a written statement including specifics of the systems the student has designed and it must be accompanied by a letter of support from a faculty associated with the design project with knowledge of the student’s work. The award can be granted to the same student for up to three times.

Funds distributed from the endowment shall be used to support an outstanding graduate student’s research specifically related to Pediatrics or Geriatrics. Preference shall be given to nursing students in the PhD or DNP program. The Dean will administer the selection and award process. The graduate student must meet the following criteria: be enrolled full-time; maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA on graduate courses; submit an application essay that is specific to the applicant’s field of research (what is the significance of the research being pursued and the impact that it will have on society in the next ten years).

College of Liberal Arts – Music Scholarships to full-time students currently enrolled in the UTA Band w/a minimum 3.0 GPA; for awards to recipients who will be chosen by the Directors of the UTA Band Program; & for supplemental discretionary funding for the UTA Band Program. Discretionary spending requires a report to the Board of UTA Band Alumni in August of each year.

UTA Executive MBA Scholarship program for Non-profit executives and Community Service Leaders One of the key benefits that students derive from participation in an Executive MBA program is the peer to peer learning that happens in a diverse classroom. An optimally constructed executive MBA cohort contains students from a broad variety of industries and functional specialties. The students expand their knowledge of management through exposure to these other industries and specialties. This exposure allows students to begin to consider their own management challenges through a variety of different lenses and management practices that expand their understanding of business. Increasingly, non-profit managers and community leaders have increasingly started to seek the education that an Executive MBA provides. The UTA Executive MBA program seeks to encourage these managers and professions to seek the education that an Executive MBA program provides. NOTE: Application is open from March 1, 2021 until September 31, 2021 or until all scholarships have been awarded whatever comes first. Qualifications: Applicant must meet all UTA EMBA admission and selection standards. Students must maintain good academic standing throughout the program. Academic achievement (previous undergraduate or graduate GPA). Preference will be given to applicants from the categories below who preferably plan to remain in the non-profit/community focused sector after the completion of the Executive MBA program (listed by priority order): Applicants working in a managerial role in any qualified 501( c)3 organization/non-profit or charitable organization. Applicants working in a local government entity or quasi-governmental entity such as a Chamber of Commerce. Applicants holding local public office. Applicants with experience in teaching and/or supporting the educational mission of the community. Applicants who are members of organizations who mission is significantly dedicated to serving the community e.g. Rotary, Lions, the Junior League, religious organization, charitable boards, school boards, health advocacy groups etc. Applicants who work within a for profit organization and contribute to their company’s community outreach programming. Applicants who contribute to the community during the time of pandemic as a medical practitioner.

The Native American Student Association at the University of Texas at Arlington is considered Texas’s longest-running Native college group. A critical part of our mission is ensuring academic success for both Native and Native-supporting students who attend or will be attending the University on a full or part-time basis. Eligibility Requirements: Applicants must be enrolled at UT Arlington at least half time (6 hours for undergraduate, 3 hours for graduate per full semester) with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5. The applicant must demonstrate a measurable commitment to a Native American community through volunteerism, philanthropy or other involvement. Please note that American Indian descent is NOT necessary to be considered for the scholarship. Entering admitted high school and transfer students as well as current UTA students may apply. This is a yearly, non-renewable award that will award $750 each long semester (Fall and Spring). Former recipients who have a cumulative 2.5 GPA each long semester and demonstrated commitment to the UTA Native American Student Association may reapply to continue the scholarship.

The UTA Pathway to Graduation Scholarship is open to undergraduate students who will graduate from UTA no later than Summer 2020. Scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis. There are a limited number of scholarships available. This scholarship is not open to Accelerated Online students. To be considered for the scholarship: *Must have at least 3.0 cumulative UTA GPA *Must have completed at least 30 credit hours at UTA *Must be enrolled full-time (12+ hours fall/spring) *Must meet requirements to graduate no later than Summer 2020 *Must complete the application

The UTA Residence Hall Scholarship provides a one-time, scholarship toward the cost of a UTA residence hall (minimum of $2,000/year). Preference is given to new transfer and freshmen students (admitted Summer 2019 or Fall 2019). The scholarship will be awarded on a competitive basis. There are a limited number of scholarships available. Richard and Yesenia Watters have generously established the Watters Scholarship for Higher Education- Engineering which awards $1000 for active and current Honors College undergraduates in the College of Engineering. This scholarship is not renewable. Eligibility Requirements: Full-time active undergraduate Honors College Students majoring in Engineering who are making sufficient progress toward their Honors degree (generally, this equates to at least 6 hours per academic year); 3.2 cumulative GPA. Applicants who do not meet the criteria will not be considered or reviewed.

Richard and Yesenia Watters have generously established the Watters Scholarship for Higher Education- General which awards $1000 for active and current Honors College undergraduates who demonstrate financial need. Through this fund, Richard and Yesenia, an Honors College alumna, hope to help other students lift the financial burdens they may be experiencing, and succeed toward their Honors degree. College of Engineering – Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering The Weiss Family Endowed Scholarship in Industrial Engineering was established by Keith Weiss, an IE graduate from UT Arlington, with the purpose of providing financial assistance to engineering students at UT Arlington who demonstrate potential for success in their field of study. The award is intended to be used for tuition, fees and books for the awardee(s). The eligible person must be a working student that demonstrates applying what he/she has learned on the job, and applying principles of the IE curriculum. Persons eligible for the award must: Be enrolled full-time at UT Arlington, with a declared major in Industrial Engineering. Be either a full time junior or senior undergraduate and a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application which must be maintained if the applicant wishes to reapply the following year. Preference will be given to working students applying Six Sigma techniques to their work, and current and future Alumni Association members. Factors in consideration for selecting the awardee will be based on financial need, demonstrated focused career goals, and good standing with the University. One page essay is required.

College of Science – Health Professions Scholarships for students desiring to pursue a medical education. In making the selection, students should be a college of science major on a pre-medicine track. Consideration will be given to total academic record, financial need, and other related criteria pertaining to the students’ declared intention of pursuing a career in medicine. This scholarship will be awarded in the spring 2022 semester and applied to the award recipient’s student account for fall 2022 and spring 2023. The student must be enrolled in fall 2022 and spring 2023 and continue to be in good academic standing to receive the funds from this scholarship. Students graduating in spring or summer 2022 are not eligible to apply.

College of Science – Biology Eligibility: Must show a potential for outstanding achievement and qualify for admission to one of the degree programs of the Department of Biology at UTA. Factors in the selection of the awardee include: Students who show the potential for outstanding achievement in their work as a Department of Biology major. Students who express intention to pursue a career in a field of biology or a medically related profession. Student’s potential for achievement will be of primary importance in the selection process.

College of Liberal Arts – Art & Art History The Wishful Wings Foundation was established in 1998 by Kyong Ju, Jesse and Mia Barnett as a memorial to their late husband and father, James S. Barnett Jr. The intent of the foundation is to support and motivate student-artists, helping them recognize that the ideas they conceive are just as significant as the finished works they output. Awards will be used to provide scholarship support to student-artists who meet the following eligibility requirements and have been identified by a panel of judges: • minimum 2.75 GPA • full-time student • all classifications eligible • all majors eligible Student-artists must submit a minimum five-page proposal consisting of: brief description of student-artist; detailed description of their concept – inspiration, intent, process, materials, and meaning. Illustrations/visual aids must be included in the proposal consisting of: visual history of any or all art created in support of student-artist’s concept; any images that form a “visual illustration” as to how the student-artist predicts the completed project to appear; any work that has inspired the student-artist to their concept.

The Youth Financial Education Program Scholarship was created in honor of Jim Ashworth. Requirements: Must be a College of Business undergraduate student with demonstrated academic accomplishment and financial need. Minimum 3.0 GPA.
