Scholarships at University of Wyoming

Preference for funding from C&I is given to students who are presenting. If funds are sufficient, support will also be given to students who are only attending a conference. $200 to $250 will be awarded once per semester per student, as long as funding is available, and is distributed on a first come first serve basis and funding need. Preference will be given to students who have not received funding within the annual year. After travel is complete, students must submit a receipt for their conference registration before they will receive funds. Please note, graduate students who are presenting may also apply to the Education Dean’s Office and Academic Affairs for additional support of up to $250 each. Please be aware that awards will be made on a rolling basis so therefore students should not wait until the deadline to apply.

Preference for funding from CLAD is given to students who are enrolled in one of the School’s programs and who are presenting at a conference during the semester of the award application. In addition, preference will be given to those receiving funds for the first time during the academic year. The A & S Abroad Scholarship is available to students in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Wyoming. You must study abroad for at least three months and have a minimum of 30 credits to be eligible for this award.

The A.B. and Marian S. Nuss Memorial Scholarship is available to students majoring in engineering at the University of Wyoming. You must demonstrate exceptional financial need to be eligible for this award.

The A.J. "Mike" McGaw Scholarship is available to seniors majoring in civil engineering at the University of Wyoming. You must be a Wyoming resident to be eligible for this award.

The Aaron Lee Yeo Memorial Scholarship is available to students majoring in chemical engineering at the University of Wyoming.

The Ace Alan Cossairt Scholarship is available to students majoring in special education at the University of Wyoming. You must demonstrate financial aid to be eligible for this award. Preference will be given to Wyoming or Idaho high school graduates.

The Albert E. Bradbury Family Graduate Scholarship is available to graduate students majoring in geology or geophysics at the University of Wyoming.

The American Society of Women Accountants, Cheyenne Chapter Scholarship is available to students majoring in accounting at the University of Wyoming. You must have completed at least 60 hours and be a Wyoming resident or a Wyoming student to be eligible for this award.

The Anadarko Scholarship in Geology and Geophysics is available to undergraduate and graduate students majoring in geology or geophysics at the University of Wyoming.

The Anderson and Whitney Scholarship is available to juniors, seniors and graduate students majoring in accounting at the University of Wyoming. Selection will be based on merit and commitment to the accounting profession.

The Anne Kirtland Selden Lowe Geology Scholarship is available to female undergraduate and graduate students majoring in geology or geophysics at the University of Wyoming. You must demonstrate academic excellence, a commitment to the pursuit of a career in geology and geophysics and have financial need to be eligible for this award.

The Arden White Scholarship is available to graduate students majoring in counselor education at the University of Wyoming. You must have a minimum 3.0 GPA to be eligible for this award. Preference is given to students pursuing counselor education as a profession.

The Arthur and Jean Boresi Civil and Architectural Engineering Scholarship is available to seniors majoring in civil or architectural engineering at the University of Wyoming. You must be interested in a university teaching career to be eligible for this award.

The Arthur Gray Janssen Chemistry Scholarship is available to students majoring in chemistry at the University of Wyoming. You must demonstrate financial need to be eligible for this award.

The Arthur L. Buck Mass Communications Scholarship is available to students majoring in telecommunication, print journalism or broadcasting at the University of Wyoming. You must be a resident of Laramie County to be eligible for this award.

The Arts and Sciences Board of Visitors Scholarship is available to undergraduate and graduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Wyoming. Preference is given to entering undergraduate students recruited by Arts and Science departments.

The Attilio and Hedy Bedont Endowment in Recognition of Outstanding Graduate Student in the College of Business Scholarship is available to graduate students in the College of Business at the University of Wyoming.

The Aven Nelson Scholarship is available to graduate students majoring in systematic botany at the University of Wyoming.

The Beavers Engineering Scholarship is available to juniors and seniors majoring in engineering at the University of Wyoming. You must be a U.S. citizen planning to pursue a career in the heavy construction industry to be eligible for this award.

The Bernard Horton Family Memorial Scholarship in Journalism is available to juniors majoring in journalism at the University of Wyoming. You must have a minimum 3.0 GPA in journalism and a minimum 2.5 GPA overall. You must also participate in activities outside of the classroom and demonstrate financial need to be eligible for this award.

The Bill and Mary Lou Heink Engineering Scholarship is available to students majoring in engineering at the University of Wyoming. You must be a resident of Wyoming to be eligible for this award.

The C.W.T. Penland and Nyla M. Penland Memorial Scholarship is available to undergraduate students majoring in botany at the University of Wyoming.

The Cal S. Taggart and Irene D. Taggert Scholarship in the College of Business is available to students enrolled in the College of Business at the University of Wyoming. You must be a resident of Park, Washakie, Hot Springs or Big Horn County to be eligible for this award.

The Carl A. Cinnamon Prize Scholarship is available to current students majoring in physics at the University of Wyoming.

The Carla Egelhoff Engineering Scholarship is available to students majoring in mechanical engineering at the University of Wyoming.

The Carlton R. Barkhurst Writing Fellowship is made possible by a generous gift from the late Irene Ahlbom Barkhurst. The Carlton R. Barkhurst Writing Fellowship is intended to help PhD and master’s candidates finish their dissertation/thesis in a timely manner. Up to eight Barkhurst Writing Fellowships will be awarded each academic year. Awards will be limited to a single semester of funding, either fall or spring. The single-semester awards will comprise of the following: Fellowship of $8,919 1 Credit Hour of Tuition Optional Student Fee Package Student Health Insurance (if selected) Eligibility requirements: Ph.D. candidate (preliminary exam passed within four years prior to Anticipated Date of Graduation). Other graduate or professional students are not eligible. Master’s student in their last semester, completing thesis. Other graduate or professional students are not eligible. Must be an U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen (see: studentaid.gov) Eligibility Requirements with unmet financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Information on how to submit a FAFSA can be found here: uwyo.edu. Anticipated Graduation Date form must be on file with the Office of the Registrar. o For fall awards, student must be graduating in December of the current year. For spring awards, student must be graduating no later than August of the current year. Must be eligible for the Optional Student Fee Package (an approved Optional Student Fee Package form must be on file with the Office of the Registrar before the Fellowship begins). Must be in good academic standing. Selection criteria: Degree of unmet financial need. Academic record and advisor’s recommendation. Likelihood of completing degree by end of Barkhurst Fellowship semester. Barkhurst Fellows may not hold any form of employment with the University of Wyoming during their fellowship semester. Furthermore, as fellowship recipients, Barkhurst Fellows are not employees and will not have any work expectations associated with their fellowship other than conducting their own research and writing their dissertation/thesis. A nomination of an eligible student ideally should come from the student’s dissertation/thesis advisor, but could come from another faculty member. The nomination must include a letter of nomination and recommendation. Fall semesters: Applications and a faculty submitted letter of nomination and recommendation must be completed by June 30 for Barkhurst Fellowship consideration. Spring semesters: Application will be available later in the fall semesters.

The Carlyle E. Weiss Honorary Scholarship is available to students at the University of Wyoming. You must be a member of the Collegiate Chorale at UW to be eligible for this award. An audition is also required.

The Cassie A. Parish Memorial Scholarship is available to students majoring in business at the University of Wyoming. You must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA and be majoring in marketing to qualify for this award. Preference is given to students from Goshen, Niobrara, Platte or Converse County.

The Charles S. Hill Memorial Fellowship is available to graduate students majoring in geology at the University of Wyoming.

The Chemistry Scholarship - E.R Schierz Scholarship in Chemical Sciences is available to students majoring in chemistry, biochemistry or chemical engineering at the University of Wyoming. You must have completed at least one year of the appropriate prescribed program at UW to be eligible for this award.

The Chuck Newcomb Engineering Scholarship is available to students majoring in engineering at the University of Wyoming. You must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and demonstrate financial need to be eligible for this award.

The Chuck Vaughan Memorial Pharmacy Scholarship is available to professional pharmacy students at the University of Wyoming.

The Clarence D. Jayne Scholarship is available to graduate students majoring in adult education or an educational program furthering the educational resources available to adults at the University of Wyoming.

The Clatterbuck Fellowship is available to undergraduate or graduate students majoring in American studies at the University of Wyoming. You must demonstrate an interest in viewing American culture from a perspective outside of the University to be eligible for this award.

The Clay Unger Business Endowment Scholarship is available to students enrolled in the College of Business at the University of Wyoming. You must demonstrate financial need to be eligible for this award. Preference is given to Wyoming high school graduates and students with a minimum 3.5 GPA.

The Cody Education Association Scholarship is available to juniors and seniors majoring in education at the University of Wyoming. You must be a graduate of Cody High School in Cody, Wyoming, have attended Cody High School for at one year and have a minimum 2.5 GPA to be eligible for this award.

The Coe Fellowship in American Studies is available to undergraduate or graduate students majoring in American studies at the University of Wyoming. You must demonstrate an interest in the arts, humanities or social science and a primary commitment to the study of American culture and institutions to be eligible for this award.

The Coe Scholarship Honoring James M. Boyle is available to undergraduate or graduate students majoring in art at the University of Wyoming. Selection is based on academic achievement and a portfolio review.

The Community College Scholarship Provided by the Paul Stock Foundation Endowment is available to community college students transferring to the College of Business at the University of Wyoming.

The Conrad Schwiering Memorial Scholarship is available to undergraduate or graduate students majoring in art at the University of Wyoming. Preference is given to residents of Wyoming who display an interest in traditional western landscape art.

Scholarship for college juniors and seniors, majoring in Agriculture who are enrolled in courses on cooperative principles and cooperative business practices at eligible universities within the Cenex market area (participating universities listed below). The university selects recipients based on scholastic achievement and class work in cooperative studies. Recipients are selected in the spring and receive the award in the fall. Awards given to juniors are renewable for their senior year. The Curtis A. Cramer Scholarship for Excellence in Economics Undergraduate Education is available to undergraduates or students earning their second bachelor degree in economics at the University of Wyoming. You must be in good academic standing to be eligible for this award.

The Daisy M. Walters Scholarship is available to undergraduate and graduate students majoring in music or family and consumer sciences at the University of Wyoming.

The Daniel Lee Dolan Memorial Scholarship is available to students majoring in business administration at the University of Wyoming. You must be a graduate of Laramie High School to qualify for this award.

NOTE: This opportunity is accepting applications for the Academic Year 2022-2023 (Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters). Fund shall be used to provide need-based scholarships to one or more of the following categories of non-traditional undergraduate students: 1) adult learners age 25 or older, 2) military veterans of any age, or 3) female or ethnic minority students in UW’s ROTC program. It is preferred that recipients be enrolled full-time and the average annual award is $2,000. The Director of Student Educational Opportunity (SEO) will make award decisions.

The Herbert H. Bush Memorial Scholarship is available to students majoring in engineering at the University of Wyoming. You must be a graduate of a Wyoming high school and demonstrate academic achievement to be eligible for this award. Preference is given to students from graduating high school classes of fewer than fifty students.
